Which CET lower-tier hotel do you think will be first to open?

If it's rainy, the potpourri from the Linq parking garage wafts over that way.

 

You know it's bad withdrawals when you even miss the nasty Vegas sewar smell. I will gladly smell Venetian's, Harrah's, and Caesars sewar smell if it meant reopening safely.

 

I'm gonna guess the Linq, seems more roomy in the Casino to me so people can spread out more,

 

I have seen rumors on Twitter that it's gonna be Flamingo, and that they are going to open up the Linq Promenade, too. Of course, they're just that...rumors.

 

Having not read every single comment, my guesses were Harrah's and Flamingo, with a slight leaning toward Harrah's. And my reasoning for the two is both room inventory and larger more spreadable slot floors, which I havent seen mentioned. I think Harrah's has a slight edge in that department because a lot of the Flamingo floor is really crammed in to alcoves and corners and areas with low ceilings whereas Harrah's seems, in my casual observation, to have a lot more cubic footage per slot, which might make it a better choice for distancing. My other thought is they just finished a complete property wide remodel and again, in my totally uneducated casual opinion, might make it a prime candidate for easier sanitization. All that said, all the rationale behind Flamingo is solid as well. And *if* Flamingo wanted to move some table games and slots around, they have quite a bit of square footage there as well, but it stood out to me in all my visits last year how crowded and cramped the slots seemed to me compared to other properties, and how a lot of them are shoved in to corners and little outcroppings, and how close together the rows of machines are. Seems like they were already a little more spaced out at Harrah's prior to the shutdown even when part of the slot floor was blocked for construction.

And in closing, Harrah's Las Vegas smells. Hilariously enough, I watched one of the 4k strip walk videos last week (dude lost his job and just doing like daily Vegas strip walks on youtube) and when he walked by Harrah's he said "Even with the doors shut and locked and just walking down the sidewalk, it still smells. I can smell it out here, but its maybe not as bad as it was"

Edit - one more thought behind my leaning toward Harrah's I forgot to mention - I got a new offer during lockdown for a millionaire qualifier slot tournament there 2nd or 3rd week of June, and that offer is still active in my account whereas other offers involving canceled festivities and shutdown properties were removed.

Well I called Ballys and she told me they were scheduled to open May 22, but it was pushed to the 29th. Don’t know if that is going to hold though.

 

Was this a host or call center? Maybe call center is just going off script and aren't as aware on inside knowledge such as what the CEO said about Caesars and one more property only opening.

 

The Call Center. I was inquiring about a June reservation and she decided to let me know about the May dates.

 

Flamingo would be my guess for lower level CET property. Close to Caesars and Bellagio. Large gaming floor, but not dependent on shows. Could see Cromwell opening early as a boutique place that is cheap to run. Then, Bally's/Paris, rounding out the Flamingo Ave. corner. Alternative is to go Flamingo and Linq so they can re-open the Linq promenade.

Saw the comment on MGM Detroit. Considering the difference in how things hit Detroit and Las Vegas, it's easy to see Detroit casinos not opening for a very long time. Wayne County is one of the most hard hit places in the US.

 

Agree with Cromwell. There is an article about Downtown Casino's possibly doing well when they open for their small overhead. Cromwell is fairly small and smaller than some downtown properties so is a great mini open candidate. It may act as a relief valve to reduce the crowds of other properties.

 

Probably safe bet that The Rio is the last to re-open?

 

I figured they would open the Linq as a “value” option since it is a newer concept and the promenade is, well, outdoors. It seems like they are still trying to get people in there to check it out and this would be a way of doing it.

Flamingo is a fair guess due to size and location, but it just isn’t a very nice property and I would think if only 2 CET props were open they would want to represent the brand as strongly as possible.

It seems like CET is taking bookings for all of the properties. They will wind up dumping everyone into CP or the “value” property depending on who you are and where you have booked. Can’t imagine that will go smoothly, and CET will invent ways of screwing it up that I can’t even think of, but there it is.

 

Without a doubt lol Station Casino's would also agree with their assessment of holding back on the Palms

 

I feel like Flamingo has higher ceilings and larger casino floor to handle the capacity and social distancing. Also connected to Linq promenade which makes me feel it is a good candidate more so than Linq. We'll see.

 

Will Rio ever reopen?!?

 

Flamingo makes a lot of sense. After CP it has 500 - 1,000 more rooms than the other CET properties, which I never realized.

 

Flamingo would be it. It's the right price point and the number of rooms means it can be the only low end hotel for a long time until demand ramps up. I don't know if it's possible to reopen pools this summer but tht would be another reason to pick the Flamingo.

 

For some reason I have noticed that exact same smell at all Harrah's properties which I have visited (Nola, Gulf Coast, LV, Philly, and AC). It smells like they are dumping some combination of floral scents with chlorine into the HVAC system.

 

I would love Bally's to be the first but I doubt that's the case. Hopefully it will be open end-of-August when I go, but if not, I would imagine more than 2 resorts are open then (fingers crossed rather).
