We have a place here that is a valley INSTITUTION. When we first got here we were skeptical. Cheese cheese cheese cheese cheese and oh cheese. But they make killer beef soup on Thursdays, the chile verde and carnitas are bueno, and the gringo shredded beef tacos with cheese cheese cheese cheese cheese and oh cheese are sheer ecstasy.

Very grateful to have ---what seems anyway-- a secure job in the bread biz. Been doing this 20+ years and have never seen it this busy over a extended period of time. I'm also grateful my mother and oldest sister are retired and youngest sister works from home so they're not exposed to the virus.

I tend to shop almost daily, cook-for-that-evening decision-making. I went out for the first time in five days and was pleased to see people calm and while there were some of the usual shortages/outages -- eggs, paper products, dried goods, bread -- there was dairy and meat, plentiful fruit/produce and of course booze. ;) Paper bags are back in vogue as they don't want folks brining in their reusable bags, which makes sense. I called in an order to our awesome bakery downtown, paid over the phone and grabbed a few sweet treats, too. We're in for the long haul, people, so please accept that.

Asparagus has shot back up but artichokes are a buck each!

I'm grateful I live in a small community. We have one community hospital. We have many people without primary doctors. Many people just use walk in clinics because they don't feel the need for a primary doctor. We have an aging population here and it is harder to get into a doctor as a new patient. Currently our community is testing people through a drive through testing clinic at the hospital. The doctors in our community are screening over the phone and calling in orders if a patient needs one. If you don't have a doctor a phone number is provided for one of the hospital's clinic and they screen over the phone. If they need a test the clinic can get a doctor's order and that person is given an appointment for a test no primary doctor or insurance needed. Elective surgeries have been cancelled but those employees are being utilized in other areas such as the drive through testing area, manning the hotline that is open during the day to answer questions and direct patients to get telephone screened etc. There are some benefits living out here in BF Egypt. Our town is around 10,000. I don't know everybody. But everybody knows someone who knows someone else.... So everybody eventually knows your business.

Oh and they just opened up a Starbuck's and they are giving out free Coffee to hospital employees.

15,000 here. 30,000 in the next town over. We have a big one to the north but the valley is very rural outside the urban nodes. It's different, indeed.

I am patiently (not) waiting for my first try at Schwan's. I've had a few of their products in the past. Personally never ordered from them. They must be doing great. Their facebook page says they are hiring!! I'm just trying to minimize my grocery trips. I was used to going in about every 2-3 days. Now I feel like I am running the gauntlet every time. If you want the good stuff you have to get in line an hour early. It's like a Star Wars premiere night every morning at the Butt Brothers -- that is really their name. I do love my HEB. They are doing a great job. I just want eggs, pasta, and a bag of sugar. -- But these are the little things and remain eternally grateful for what I have.

You hit the mother lode. Sometime this week I'm going to run the gauntlet and try to get regular spaghetti pasta, rice, and a stinking dozen eggs.

Last night local churches got together and had a parade in our hospitals parking lot. They wanted to show their support for the staff. Numerous cars flashed their hazard lights and parked their cars in our front lot. They say there for over 30 minutes. It brought tears to my eyes. I’ve been doing this a long time. Usually visitors and family tell us how much we suck. It is nice to hear us appreciated. We just had a Starbucks recently open and they sent us two big jugs of coffee.
