    Day 3:

Woke up around 8 am again through another night of bad attempted sleep. Got ready and went down to the casino and got my $40 free play that came with the room as well as my $20 birthday free play and turned that into $65 cash on the Sex and the City slot machine. Decided to only play with that $65 for the rest of the morning before I walked to PH. There's a difference of 40 minutes between my picture on Sex and the City and one of me on the walk so the money did not last long lol.

But instead of going right to PH, I decided to go to Park MGM to get my $25 birthday free play added there too. This walk may not have been the best idea in hindsight because I really didn't know where I was going. I ended up walking around the employee parking garage at Excalibur and eventually past T-Mobile Arena.

There was nobody at all in line at the player's club so I got the free play and lost it all on Mega Vault. I was cutting things close on time but decided to go to Cosmo for breakfast and got a bacon/egg/cheese kolache from District which was great.

Mom had went to Earl of Sandwich for breakfast today and got a bacon/egg/cheese also which she really enjoyed.

All of us who were going to the Scientific Games showroom tour were going to meet at Treasure Island and then leave from there so we got a Lyft to TI. We got there at maybe 11:30 and the tour was scheduled for 1:00 so I managed to lose $75 in the meantime, most of that on a $1.50 max Quick Hit machine where the top progressive was almost $40,000 or something like that.

We all made our way to the SG showroom and got our visitor nametags (we were all on a list beforehand), and were met by a few SG game designers. I am terrible at remembering names and unfortunately I don't remember theirs but they were so nice to the 5 of us. They had bottles of water and a box of donuts for us, were willing to answer any questions we had about specific games or game design in general, and all the games in the showroom were available to play and a majority of them had demo modes where you could trigger bonuses or wins automatically.

I was having so much fun that I forgot to take more pictures or videos than these, but these are the games I remember seeing in the showroom. If you have any questions about a game I would be happy to answer as best I can. I don't remember a lot of the games exact names so I'm just using new.

New Monopoly (in Jackpot Party cabinet with big top screen, already in casinos)
New Dragon Spin (already in casinos)
Cash Wheel with a wheel you physically spin yourself. I can't wait to see how people break this.
Ultra Hot Mega Link (already in casinos)
    Quick Hit Reel Version
    Dancing Drums Reel Version (pictured)
    The Hobbit
New Quick Hit (you pick for a number of reel sets to be active in bonus and you can unlock more)
New Power Strike (top prize was a Cruise valued at $10,000)
    New Sword of Destiny
New Wizard of Oz 3 reel (already in casinos)
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (already in casinos)
Willy Wonka Everlasting Gobstopper (already in casinos)
    James Bond 007 Goldeneye
A sort of Lightning Link variant where you collect values during free spins and if you fill a column vertically you get a multiplier.
Bartop machines that included video poker, keno, and several slots including Lock It Link, Quick Hit Super Wheel, and more
A bunch of electronic dealer games, Blackjack/Baccarat/a few more I believe. Didn't play any so not sure

After playing the games there for about an hour and a half we decided to leave and as we were about to, the SG representatives gave us each a gift bag full of goodies to thank us for coming. The little unicorn from Cash Wizard World smells like cotton candy and I love it so much!!

We were then asked if we wanted to see the vintage area in the back, which of course we replied yes to. There was a giant poster along the wall highlighting the history of the company along with some extremely old slot machines I, and probably many of you, haven't seen before.

After thanking the SG representatives for everything again we made our way back to our hotels to drop off the goodies we received and were going to meet at Cosmopolitan to play for a while since our friends who had set up the showroom tour had to leave that night.

I had a first spin feature and then a bonus on The Godfather. The new Willy Wonka was being active too.

Mom and I were getting hungry around this time so we got some chicken from Hattie B's in the food court, hers was without spice and mine was medium spice (pictured). The fries were nice and crispy and had a good seasoning too so we liked it a lot.

After eating I went to play Britney and she kept bonusing but not paying much.

Played various slots with our friends including Lightning Link and some new ones with no luck but we all got some bonuses on Lock It Link shortly before they had to leave for their flight!

They planned on leaving to get ready at 7:30, and at 7:25 he went to play Tarzan as one of the last slots.. on the 3rd spin betting $3 he got 3 minor progressives and a bunch of other credits for over $300!
After that we said our goodbyes and mom decided to go back to PH to relax.

I had a date with the giant Walking Dead slot machine from the previous night so my destination was NYNY. Had some decent hits on Ocean Magic Ultra, Fu Stacks, and this super old game I had never seen before called Empire. By landing bonus symbols King Kong climbs up towards the bonus at the very top of the Empire State Building. Unfortunately Walking Dead was terrible.

The progressives on this Hot Shot game are crazy for only a $1 max bet. This kept me playing for a while.

After a little losing I left NYNY basically even and moved on to Excalibur to get my birthday free play there of $20 and lost that in Live and Let Die quickly. Was not a fan of Excalibur so I quickly left and went to make my way to Luxor via the indoor walkway.

Along the way a hooker tried to get me to buy her a donut from the donut place in the little food court area between Excalibur and Luxor (lol). To which I declined and kept on moving. Had a nice bonus on Hexbreaker at Luxor.

Decided to then make my way to Mandalay Bay through the shops inside since that was the only casino in the area I hadn't visited yet. Sadly I got there at 12:04 am, 4 minutes too late to get the MyKonami free play added there.

Donated $100 to Mandalay Bay and wasn't really impressed with their casino either. On the way out I put a $20 in a quarter Monopoly game and got a good wheel bonus to get most of that back.

Walked through the shops again to get back to Luxor and was hungry so got some food from Backstage Deli which was good. The workers were super friendly. I got a cuban sandwich and BBQ fries using part of my $50 food credit, took it upstairs to eat and watch the news coverage about what had happened on Super Tuesday before going to sleep.

All we had planned for the next day was dinner at Aria buffet since we had a MyVegas BOGO, before going to Bellagio to see Cirque du Soleil O.

Getting carded is a hassle...but many of us wish we still looked young enough to get carded...

Unique/good info on the SG tour. Did they think of you as just casino visitors going for a tour, or did they offer this to you because your occupation was such that they thought a sales pitch was in order? We have a friend that works at a non Nevada SG office. Might be worth seeing if she can get us into one of those tours.

We had a 2 bedroom Luxor suite, much the same as yours, and it did have a layer of black out curtains. I can only guess that the ones in your room were removed for cleaning or something, and they didn't follow up with reinstalling them.

Love the King Kong game at NYNY. Does you mom like the vibe at PHO?

I hear that all the time and heard it from a security guard at Paris, but when it leads to people not treating you with respect or like everyone else since you "look like a kid", it gets very annoying after a while.

Both the friend who set the tour up and myself have YouTube slot channels which may have contributed to making the tour happen, but the other 3 of us do not. Definitely had nothing to do with our occupation as they never asked. They encouraged us all to take as many pictures and videos as we wanted. I definitely recommend seeing if your friend can make it happen.

I figured something like that probably happened with the curtains but it didn't really interfere with my sleep at all so I didn't bother to try moving to another room.

She seemed to like it, she would gamble there in the mornings while I was asleep and managed to play for a long time on not much money. I didn't get her opinion of the pleasure pit dancers though lol.

    Day 4:

I actually got some decent sleep this morning, maybe my body was taking pity on me for all the previous suffering or it just couldn't handle it anymore. Managed to actually sleep until maybe 10 am when for some reason there were like 5 school buses in the bus unloading area with hundreds of kids screaming and running around. Not a big issue since I was going to wake up then anyway but I wondered why it was happening lol.

The previous night before going to sleep I hit my knee/leg pretty hard on the corner of the bench at the foot of the bed and it had swelled up and bruised so I decided to not do any major walking (like a mile+ at a time) today at all. It's actually still bruised and hurts a little when touched as I write this now, 7 days later.

Got a Lyft and met mom at PH and we crossed the street to Aria through Crystals so I could activate the BOGO buffet and $25 Konami free play rewards.

Did that and I was hungry so we went to Five50 Pizza Bar per friends' recommendations. Both of us got a slice of the Gotham and it was great. They did have a lunch special for $18 for a soup/salad plus a personal pizza but we just wanted something quick.

Used my free play and got a first spin bonus on The Voice which was terrible and paid like $5. Lost the rest of the FP plus some more money with no pictures to show for it.

Took the indoor walkway to Park MGM and played a few slots. Mom got a decent line hit on the wager saver bet for $22.50 on a Wizard of Oz game. I did nothing but lose here too.

Went through Eataly, looked around (but didn't buy anything), stepped outside to go to NYNY since Mom had never been there before. We each put in a $20 on Empire and got a good bonus for $80 to more than double our money!

After playing here for a while, me losing some more, we got on the tram from Park MGM to Bellagio since Mom wanted to see the conservatory.

Unfortunately it was the same theme with a lot of the same decorations as last year when we visited, for Chinese New Year, but it was still fantastic to see. I just would have liked to see a completely different design but I guess I would have to visit at a different time of year. However, I did notice something I did not last year – an offering area where many people had left coins and slot tickets. I found a ticket for a few cents from a couple days ago and added it to the collection to hopefully change my luck.

After the Conservatory Mom and I each had a $25 Konami FP to use at Bellagio but neither of us got anything from that. A little more play here and we decided to head towards Aria at around 3:45 to go to the dinner buffet. We had gone to the brunch buffet last year and really liked it. On the way to the buffet, I saw a Block Bonanza game with a huge credit prize in the front, which is rare, and decided to take a chance going for it. I stuck in a $100 and was devastated by this spin, which would have paid huge if i had landed a block on reel 1.

But with only $15 left the good luck from the offering came through and I landed the block with a boost, boosting the value of that block alone to $325 for my biggest hit of the trip so far!

Very excited after that we both headed to the buffet but I'm sad to say it was a little disappointing. A lot of the meat was way too salty and I'm not someone who normally complains about that. We each ordered water and coke to begin the meal, the server brought a pitcher of coke but no water, didn't come over until halfway through the meal and when we asked for water then she only brought 1 glass.

The pork belly at the top of the picture was the best thing I ate there. The warm cinnamon roll for dessert was good too. It cost $40 + tax after the BOGO and most of that was covered by the remainder of my food credit offer so that made it a little better because I would have been disappointed had we paid full price.

But the food was good enough and we filled our stomachs and then slotted a little after dinner before going to Bellagio for O. Mom wanted to go back to Planet Hollywood and get a sweater first, though, since it was a little windy and getting colder out. Somehow we ended up going up an elevator for no reason and having to walk down a flight of stairs, going all over the place. I was in a bad mood because my leg was hurting from the unnecessary walking so I waited outside of PH for Mom. Plus we were cutting it close on time, wanting to get to Bellagio a half hour before showtime as the ticket suggests. But getting to Bellagio a little later than intended allowed us to go right into the theatre with no waiting so it worked out. When I saw Mystere at TI the line was ridiculous and went halfway down the casino. I only have a couple pictures to share, 1 from the pre-show entertainment.

After that an announcement was made to please not take photos or video to ensure the safety of the performers so the only other picture I have is from the bow at the very end. I did see a few people in the crowd taking pictures during the show and that got me angry. The performers are risking their lives doing these stunts and you choose to ignore a simple request to help keep them safer.

Mom and I both liked the show, but we both liked Beatles Love better. I realize they are different kinds of shows and hard to compare directly. Next time we might see Michael Jackson One and see how that is. Went back to PH with Mom and she stayed in her room while I left for MGM Grand, another casino I hadn't been to. I stopped briefly last year just to pick up a show ticket but never gambled. I did get super lost inside then so I made sure to take pictures of the entrance/exit I needed to use this time.

Had a fun run on Rolling Stones including a $47 bonus betting 50 cents. After playing some more here I decided to go to Mandalay Bay to get the final free play loaded. This seems like so much walking as I'm writing it up now, I must have just been ignoring the pain in my leg. I had $25 free play to use and it ended up being AMAZING.

I put $1 in the machine to use the $25 free play at $1 bets on 5c denominations, got 4 bonuses within my first 20 spins including one on the first spin, and landed this on the 3rd bonus!!

I cashed out $350 on free play!! The last of my friends in Vegas at the time was at Cosmo today so I got a Lyft to meet up with him after the Fire Link run since the MB casino didn't impress me much.

Got to Cosmo, didn't see him and decided to play Ruby Slippers in the meantime and I had an incredible Glinda feature right away betting 80 cents!

After that I raised the bet a little and immediately got the free spins betting $2, and it was a good one!

So that ended up being about a $900 profit in 15 minutes of gambling! Elated from this I went a little crazy and started betting max on everything, losing a couple hundred and bringing me back to Earth. We both went to play the new Price is Right game, he got 2 bonuses and I got nothing.

He went to the room and I put in $100 on Britney trying to double or nothing, moving the bet up and down each spin and I got to play for about 45 minutes that way, ending up cashing out with my original $100.

I was getting tired so got a Lyft back to Luxor for the night. Lost about $200 on Hexbreaker but then came across a wonderful screen on Wheel of Fortune 4D at $4 bet. Someone left 3 guaranteed wild reels and I made back most of that loss here.

Got some more BBQ fries from Backstage Deli and headed up to the room to eat and sleep my final night at Luxor. On day 5 I switched hotels to Cosmo and we go see Barry Manilow at the Westgate. I was so glad to have some great wins this night.

And you had a chance of making 4 or 5 reels wild! Man, I wish I could stumble across plays like that at my local casino. People aren't usually that dumb.

    Day 5:

BBQ fries were evidently not the best thing to eat at 3 am because my stomach let me know that upon waking up. I woke up at 8 and planned to just shower, pack, and take a Lyft to PH to store my luggage in Mom's room until my room at Cosmo was ready. But my stomach kept me in the room right until my 11:00 check out time and I hoped it wouldn't be a problem the rest of the day.

I wanted to stay at Cosmo all day excluding our trip to Westgate for Barry Manilow at night. Put my luggage in Mom's room at PH and we went to Cosmo to gamble. I was very sad to see that Jackpot Party had been replaced with the new Monopoly game we had seen in the SG showroom 2 days earlier.

The Monopoly game is fun but I loved Jackpot Party and this was the only casino any of us had seen it in on this trip. So I think it's gone for good now. Played Monopoly and got an okay bonus. Decided to go to the desk around 1:00 while Mom kept playing and see if there was a room ready. The only thing I asked for was a quiet room. The front desk worker was so nice, she gave me some bottles of water and made a call to her manager to get a room released for me right away. Boulevard Tower, 59th floor.

My stomach was feeling better so I ordered some more Hattie B's chicken to take up to the room for the both of us. Mom and I went up to the room and I loved it instantly. The bed was way better than Luxor, I really liked the couch, shower was enormous, 2 big TVs, and of course the balcony. Tablet to control the room was nice too.

We ate, watched some TV, and Mom decided to stay up in the room while I headed down to play more. Got some more bad bonuses on Britney, and a decent one on this weird Pachinko style slot.

Rght before we were set to leave for Westgate I had an amazing little run on Hexbreaker at $4 bet. Got a good line hit and 2 bonuses for a massive profit. The ticket was down to $32 and I cashed out at $811!

Showed Mom my ticket to her disbelief and we got our Lyft to Westgate. Knowing nothing about it the Sportsbook was super impressive.

Crossing through there to the casino, we made our way to the showroom and our seats in the balcony. The aisles are ridiculously narrow, if someone had to cut across you to get out of the aisle whether you stood or not there was no place for your legs to go. Thankfully we were seated near the aisle with nobody on our right side.

Show was scheduled to start at 7:00 and the theater was decently full. A video started playing around 7:10 and he was on stage before 7:15. He isn't the kind of show I would have chosen to see myself but I kept an open mind.

The first song had a lot of echoing, was a bit too loud and very hard to hear his singing over the instruments. Thankfully an adjustment was quickly made and the rest of the show sounded great. He was very impressive, holding the notes and moving around good especially for someone 76 years old. There were about 10 accompanying musicians, including 3 backup singers, drums, guitar, trombone, and Barry himself would play the piano for several songs.

A giant staircase and elevated stage appeared during his last song Copacabana, which put him right near the balcony where we are as he finished the song, danced down the stairs and off the stage. My mom loved the show and that was all I cared about. He definitely put on a good show and if you like his music you would probably love the show too.

Mom bought a few things at the gift shop and we got a Lyft back to Planet Hollywood. Since we had only eaten lunch she was a little hungry and got some Chick-Fil-a to take to her room for the night. I walked back to Cosmo to eat my own chicken leftovers from Hattie B's.

Got up to my room, took the food out of the fridge, turned on the NBA game, and right as I sat down I got a phone call from a weird number in Idaho. I know nobody in Idaho and never answer calls from numbers I don't know so I dismissed it. They left a voicemail so I decided to listen anyway. My voicemail box said I had 2 new messages. The first message was my mom, saying she went to get a bottle of Pepsi from the machine in the hallway and now her keycard wouldn't work and she couldn't get back in the room. The second message was a spam message.

Voicemail would not tell me what time those messages were left, or what number they came from, so I had no idea if the message from my mom was just left from the Idaho number or if perhaps it happened another day, she got the keycard working and never mentioned it.

I called her cell phone twice with no answer. I figured that guaranteed she just called me now from that other number, so I put my food away and hurried across the bridge to PH. She was standing in the hallway and for whatever reason the keycard just stopped working and her phone was locked in the room. Through sheer luck the people staying in the room next to hers were just getting back to the room and they let her borrow their phone to call me. And I was very glad I had decided to take the other keycard with me even though I never had plans to go up to the room on my own.

We got into the room, she got settled and I left her the working keycard as I headed back to Cosmo to finally eat. Got a milkshake from Milk Bar to take up to the room and it was ridiculously small, nothing special and I had eaten half of it by the time I got up to the room. Was not impressed at all. Leftover chicken was good though.

Met my friend down in the casino after. 2 other friends were just getting into town and staying at Cosmo too so we waited for them and then walked to Park MGM where we played Rolling Stones and caught up. No luck there so we went to NYNY because 1 friend wanted to play the old Alice slot machine.

I had a great bonus on that and a few other games and was up $200 fairly quickly. Was livestreaming on Facebook for some friends when a security guard told me I could not record.
I asked why and he just said it isn't allowed. To which I asked the reason why because there has to be one, and he couldn't give one. I then said that several other casinos allow recording (Cosmopolitan being one) to which he replied “No, they don't”. I named a few other casinos that do and he again said they do not. I asked him why he was lying and he just said again not to record and walked away.

If NYNY does not allow filming for security reasons that is fine. I stopped recording as soon as he told me not to. But the guard should at least be able to articulate that much to me and not either flat out lie to my face, or act like he knows what he's talking about in regards to other casino's policies when he has no clue. So I cashed out with my $200 profit and immediately left, going back to Cosmo where I played (and recorded) there with no hassle (unfortunately no wins either) before heading up to the room, spending some time on the balcony before going to sleep.

It made me a little sad because I really liked the NYNY casino but that is the great thing about Vegas. If your luck, vibes, or whatever else isn't working out at one casino you can be at another in 5 minutes. If they don't want me recording that's fine and I respect that, they just won't get my money. So that was the last time I visited NYNY.

Day 6 was our last day in Vegas as both Mom and I moved to Wynn.

    Day 6 and aftermath:

Woke up after a great night's sleep, checked out of Cosmo reluctantly, and took my luggage across the bridge to meet Mom at PH and we got a Lyft to the Wynn, our final hotel for the trip. This was a comped night from the Wynn slot app which I am super glad to have used considering what they did to the app since then. Neither of us had ever been there before, not even to gamble.

Went to the desk to see if I could check in (it was about 11:00) and the desk clerk said no rooms were ready at Wynn but there was a 2 queen room ready at Encore if I wanted to pay a $40 upgrade. I declined and he said I would get a text when the room was ready. Left our bags with the bell desk and went to play some slots. Got my card from the Red Card desk and they said if I earned 300? points I would get a wheel spin and 750 would get 2 buffets. Those numbers might be a little off, I really don't remember. I really liked all the flowers and decorations around. We played Dragon Link together and Mom got a decent bonus quickly.

I had no luck on it and went to explore. Went into the high limit room and found a Magic of the Nile game with all 3 features needing just 1 more symbol to trigger. It was a $15 bet but I put $100 in to see what would happen, and a lot happened!

So that was a great way to make $500 right away. I could have continued playing to try and trigger another feature but I decided to cash out and run since that game can be very mean, especially on such a big bet.

This is the view looking out the back of the high limit room.

They also had a $1000 Top Dollar machine. Imagine getting the $1,000,000 offer.

Found Mom who was playing a China Shores machine and she got a bonus for about 60 spins and I got one for 120!

It didn't pay a ton but it was great to have such luck early and at a new casino.

During the bonus I got a text that the room was ready so I got the keys and we headed up. The room was very nice and Mom said it was her favorite of all the hotel rooms on the trip. We saw the dinner buffet was a seafood buffet for Friday nights and neither of us like seafood much so we decided to go to the brunch buffet instead. Which meant we had a lot of playing to do to get those 750 points. Got my wheel spin and won $10 free play. The Red Card desk worker said since I earned over 500 points I should go to Encore and sign up for their slot tournament. I went to go do that while Mom continued playing. On the way back she texted a picture of a great hit.

We continued playing those machines, and she kept winning, until I had enough points to get the buffets and we got there around 2.

Everything was great and we see why people love the buffet there so much.

I had a made to order pancake that was amazing but no picture sadly. We finished eating and headed to Encore as my slot tournament time was at 4.

Played for a while on Dragon Link and cashed out my original $100 before the tournament.

I've never placed or won anything in a slot tournament ever but I was doing good in this one. Sadly I finished in 4th place, super close to 3rd, and only the top 3 received any prizes. $250/$100/$50 free play. Was disappointed in coming so close.

Mom headed up to the room and I went to Essence Dispensary. Lyft driver tried to get me to go to Planet 13 instead presumably because he gets a higher kickback from them. But I liked Essence so that is where I went. Got a live resin vape there. Went back up to the room and watched the news for a while. This was when the coronavirus news was just getting started in Vegas. I think the first case in Clark County was confirmed on this day. Played a little more in the Wynn casino and managed to lose a majority of what I had won in the morning. But it should be enough to get a good teaser offer so it's fine.

Got a Lyft to Cosmo to gamble with my friends for the last time. They went to eat while I still wasn't hungry after the buffet and I got this amazing bonus while they were gone!

Played a little more Britney for the last time, got some more Hattie B's chicken for a snack, said my goodbyes, and went back to Wynn to sleep at around 11. During the middle of the day I just sort of hit a wall and was ready for the trip to be over so I didn't feel like gambling much or staying up all night like I had originally planned.

    Day 7 and post-trip:

Woke up around 6 since our flight was at 9:20. Made sure everything was in the luggage, got an interesting Lyft ride to the airport (the driver's car had decorations for every single holiday at once inside). It took a decent while to get through security. Our friend was departing a couple gates away from ours so we met him to say goodbye. Flight home only took 3 hours and 30 minutes. Uneventful.

Overall on the trip I ended up winning about $1000 gambling. Which basically paid for the airfare, show tickets, food, resort fees, and the 1 night at Cosmo. Mom wasn't a winner but came home with a majority of her budget and we both have great memories. Before the trip I had a feeling 6 days might be a little too long and it was. Our other trip was 3 days which was too short so maybe 4 or 5 is the magic number.

Very thankful that we managed to get this trip in considering everything going on right now. If our trip was to be today or this week we would be cancelling 100%. I saw that an employee at Luxor has tested positive for the coronavirus but I left there on the morning of the 5th so I have nothing to worry about from that.

I really have no idea what's next for Vegas or my plans to go there. With all the chaos going on with people getting fired from every casino, they are probably going to be super desperate for business and giving great offers once things calm down but my health and the health of my loved ones will always come first. A few other friends of mine had very tentative plans to visit Vegas in the summer. I would love to still do that but all I can do now is wait and see.
