... and I'm out. My conference was cancelled due to the global health situation. Now I have to plan for 2021 since I won't be putting myself at risk this year.

Mega bummed right now.

I will have a May/June crossover. Will be there at Ballys May 28th-June 4th for a part solo-part mother daughter trip.

 

Which conf was cancelled?

I am headed to LightFair May 4-7, it is still on but wondering if they too will get cancelled

 

Dell Technologies World. It was a bigger conference with around 15,000 attendees expected each year. At least the biggest I would have attended. I'd guess size of conference played into their decision.

I just checked out LightFair and it's bigger and no announcement yet. I'd be really cheesed if LightFair went on while mine was cancelled.

 

How many years has Dell World been in Vegas? I went in 2014 when it was still in Austin.

I don't know. I first learned of it in 2018 when I was at Interop at Mirage and Dell World was across the street at Venetian. Interop moved to Austin this year, and moved to September too. It is cheaper for my company to send me to a conference in Vegas than Austin (both for Airlines and Hotel) so I decided to try out Dell this year. Looks like next year I'll try it out instead.

Edit: You made me curious. I looked it up and the last Dell World in Austin was 2016. It became Dell EMC World and moved to Vegas in 2017. Last year it became Dell Technologies World, still in Vegas.

 

Golden Gate offers for May just showed up yesterday so all booked for May 1st, 2nd, 3rd!

Haha good to know. I was eyeing Interop as well.

Assuming the entire city of Seattle isn't quarantined at that point

 

I liked Interop. I'd go back if it returned to Vegas or went somewhere that is cheaper for me to travel and stay. I think it is going to die out though. I used to go to IT/Dev Connections and the got smaller (as Interop was doing) and then it moved away from Vegas and died off.

But now, I wait and see when I get to return to Vegas.

 

Ever the optimist I just rebooked my flight home. Same exact flight but saved 13,000 points on SWA. Now they just need to open everything back up in the next few weeks. I want to help them recover so let May 29th get here quickly.
