American Airlines expands relationship with Alaska Airlines

    Got this in an email this evening. Sounds like a nice boost for folks in the Seattle area. Probably offer more connections through Seattle as well.

    Yeah, the (likely) ability to use miles better across the network and potentially to credit more Alaska or American flights to the other airline, if that's what you fly, could be good.

    I'm concerned for AS fliers that the move to OneWorld means the end of their very generous international partner award charts, but if you're a domestic traveler, this could be great.

    I'm not a fan of American's product, but we've been codeshared on to American a few times. Hopefully there's more transparency and as you note cleaner booking.

    There will definately be a devaluation of AS miles. Most likely a move to revenue based earnings. It will be nearly impossible for me to earn MVP if they do that. Currently I can do it with monthly $59 flights to Vegas. If those flights start earning 59 miles instead of 800, a lot less MVP fliers.
