    Hi Everyone,

I thought this would be a fun topic for posts as we all know casinos make mistakes whether it is with payouts, game rules or simply the small stuff that doesn't matter once 5 minutes have past. I hope it is appropriate to discuss this as there will be some people who might think it is unethical to take something that is not yours. But then again, the casinos have no problem taking our money so..... yeah, I'll leave it at that. With that aside, I'll start with some errors I've experienced in the past that lined my pockets.

    1. I once threw in two $500 chips to get change at a craps game and for some odd reason, the box man, pulls out one stack of black chips ($2000), $400 in green and a stack of $5 ($100). He did this in front of both craps dealers on his side and the stickman who all said nothing! I just got $2500 in chips for $1000. I didn't say a damn thing, played the game, started winning and slowly pocketed chips periodically in case. I later colored up and walked away with no issues.

    2. I bought in a baccarat table with $2000 cash and the dealer gave me two stacks of blacks ($4000). This happened in front of a full table of players and they didn't say a thing! The dealer who called for the pitboss check didn't catch it either and ok'd it. LOL. The whole table was awesome to have kept quiet and afterwards the person next to me whispered that I should leave after a few bets before they discover it. I did exactly that and cashed in with a nice win.

    3. This was a classic Vegas last bet story. Back in the early days of my gambling days, I was in Vegas and on my way back to the airport. I stopped at a "local" casino on the way to McCarran and decided to buy in for $200 to play blackjack. There was a lot of back and forth and when it came time for me to leave to catch my plane, I place my last $150 all-in bet. I got a A,4 for my first two cards against a dealer 10. I hit and got a face card to total 15. I hit again and got a 7 to bust with a 22. But the dealer didn't collect my $150 chips and busted hand and started dealing herself and busted. She paid my $150 bet and once again, whole table didn't say a damn thing. I colored in and scuttled off to the cage and then off to the airport!

Couple of weeks ago at Bally's I was playing craps at a slow table...maybe 3-4 others. Shooter rolls a 12 on the come out roll and the dealer paid me and the guy next to me on our pass line bets. I look at the guy next to me to see if he notices the error and he obviously does. Both of us wait a few seconds to see if the dealer catches it, but she seemed to think it was an 11. After 4-5 seconds, we both pick up our "winnings".

Several years ago at a craps table at Cosmo I got paid an extra $20 cause there was a dirty old green chip in the stack of reds.

You are one lucky person. Personally, it depends on my mood. If I'm in a righteous mood I'll correct the mistake. If not, I rationalize it with my famous saying...
Caesars pays these people to watch their money. I have to watch my own money. When Caesars starts paying me to watch their money, I'll do just that.

Back decades ago, in the coin dropper days, I hit a pretty good jackpot on a nickel slot, a couple hundred nickels.

This was, of course, when payouts happened immediately, click-click-click and while it was clicking away this obnoxious bell on the side of the machine kept ringing.

Well, it kept going on and on and on and on, obviously longer than it should take to pay out my jackpot. I realized that it was "stuck" in payout mode.

Eventually it stopped, I guess because the hopper was empty. I just STFU about it, shoveled it all into buckets, and cashed it in. IIRC it was between $40 and $50.

The thing is, nobody paid any attention, either as it was paying out or when I cashed them in.

At a free bet table once, the dealer wasn’t pushing when she got 22 and paid it out as if she busted

About 15 years ago my brother and I were playing blackjack at Treasure Island. Our dealer was paying out our wins in the next denomination higher chips--$25 on a $5 bet, etc. It seemed obviously intentional and made us a little nervous that we'd somehow be accused of colluding. Dealer was obviously disgruntled about something. Lasted half and hour or so, and didn't happen on every single hand. Paid off pretty well and the pit never noticed.

We've had this conversation before....and it got surprisingly heated. LOL I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Personally, I don't say anything, but I also don't take the money quickly. I give the dealer a wide berth to fix their mistake. When they move on to the next hand, roll, then i pick up the money.

At the MGM, the whole table bet on Banker (including me, $500 bet) at a baccarat table in the Mansion. The cards were dealt and the highest bettor was handed cards for her to peek at. What happened though was the dealer accidentally handed her the Player cards instead of the Banker cards (yes I did see this but didn't say anything). The cards showed natural 9 and it was winner for all of us at the table. However, the card machine that automatically scans and tracks the cards dealt showed that Player won with the natural 9 so this instantly created a halt to the payout and the pitboss got involved. The pitboss ruled that the machine was wrong and said to pay the bets. His reasoning was that it wouldn't be the first time that the machined malfunctioned. Yeah baby!

I had an ambitious 1k bet playing paigow tiles and my hand was 3/wong. The dealer was new and had a 5,7 and mixed pair of 8's. Properly set house way I would have pushed. For some reason she broke the mixed pair and made the hand 3/5. She asked the floor to check and he said it was good. Free win:woohoo:. There was only one other guy at the table and we were both just smiling.

There's a lot of gambler camaraderie if you call it that when the casino pays you in your favor... no one says a word . However when you're short changed usually someone notices and points it out.

Not in Vegas, but back when Indian casinos were starting, a buddy and I went to a brand new casino a few days after it opened. We hit a blackjack table with our coupons. The introductory coupon was "first winning bet pays double." We won, got paid double, and the coupon stayed out there. Long story short, we had a good run of cards, increased our bets until we lost and then they took the coupon. Then it was off to craps.

My buddy was just learning craps. The new dealers were chatting at this slow table and having a grand old gossip session. My buddy established a point, then we made a come bet that was a 9 and took full odds. He made his point and a few others back-to-back, and when he tossed the dreaded seven-out, they left our 9 bet up and gave me the dice.
"Hey!" He said to me, "Shouldn't we have …" "Yes," I hissed. "Now shut up." The crew kept on chatting and we got paid when that 9 hit.

Forgetting to take down come bets on a seven when the button is off is, in my experience, the #1 mistake dealers make in players' favor.

When a dealer makes an error even in my favor I reflexively point it out.

Although that is usually at blackjack and dealing in much much smaller amounts than op is talking about.

But I have stayed at Cal on basically an error comp for a couple weeknights (there was a thread about it a couple years ago). And my biggest one is the ongoing CET Wyndham tier match debacle, which basically takes advantage of how little information CET and Wyndham seem to share, as well as Wyndham and other hotel loyalty programs, as well as those programs in Amex.

And I like those sorts of mistakes better as there isn't someone getting **** later based on it.

I think the luckiest I've ever been is the occasional "win" at BJ. Where I have an 18 and the dealer has 19 and pays me. It's usually with just a couple cards too, not like a 5 card 18.

Not nearly as major of those preceding, but years ago at a small casino in Deadwood, SD, I was playing Blackjack, sitting at first base. The elderly dealer, when he dealt his cards, allowed a full view of them. Made for a much easier way to play ...

I just want to point out that the casino doesnt actually take your money. You willingly hand it over.

Also, I think MOST people understand that it is unethical to take something that isn't yours. At any rate, this subject has come up over and over again here, and always ends off of the rails.

Once at the old O'Sheas a buddy of mine cashed in $38 at the cage.An Asian women counted out $38 in cash and then slid the cash and chips back to him.
We're like wtf?? for a few minutes outside..I went back in and waited for another teller and cashed them in again..
I've been on the wrong side also...Borgata AC I cashed out a lot of green roulette chips and also a couple quarters got mixed in so $48 profit for the casino..
One time in AC a BJ table and the dealer pushes my 17 vs her multi-card 18..full table and the cards are swept away and some old bird speaks up that the dealer missed my loss...The whole table was like why the F bother doing that??.Dealer and pit boss replay the cards and my $15 bet is taken...wish I had a tip playing for the dealer at the time but I did not.

One of the managers sent me to bed at 3am one night @ Claude's Bar.

Saved me an unknown amount of money, and my liver untold punishment.
