I've been considering just popping up to a Primm hotel for a quick weekend stay for a while. Tonight I read a lot of reviews from Tripadvisor that make the Las Vegas Club hotel from 2012 sound like the pinnacle of luxury in comparison. I'm skeptical about negative reviews because so many people expect 5 star amenities everywhere they go, but it's hard to disbelieve in so many horror stories.

This is a partial list of the complaints I've read about (and seen from guest's pictures):

    - Completely uncleaned rooms full of previous guest's trash.
    - No maid service.
    - Room amenities were ancient, filthy, peeled wallpaper, dirty carpets full of stains and scars, air vents clogged with dust bunnies and grime.
    - Mold and mildew in showers and sliding door tracks.
    - No maintenance personnel to help with malfunctioning utilities.
    - Old school CRT TVs.
    - Most restaurants, pools, and the monorail are shut down.
    - Employees that resemble zombies who are powerless to provide any kind of help.
    - No manager(s) to be found, or they're stubbornly shielded from guests who have complaints.

Has anybody been there lately? If they have, are the hotel's conditions really this bad?

Interesting. I was looking at possibly booking a cool looking boutique, inexpensive, Victorian hotel near a casino in my neck of the woods and started scrolling through the reviews. The first few were promising, but as I dove in deeper they started getting weirdly more and more negative. Like no not water, terrible service, dirty rooms, no toilet paper, even ghosts! Mixed in were absolutely glowing endorsements. I'm generally pretty good at parsing these reviews, being able to sniff out the seemingly obvious bogus ones, either good or bad, but I'm passing on this mystery for the time being. I might have to check out those ghosts next Halloween though:D. I wish I could help with direct info to your exact question, but I would personally be a little reluctant to pull the trigger unless somebody else here can vouch for it. I seldom second-guess my initial gut feelings. Best of luck in your quest!

It's been probably 10-15 years since we stayed in Primm. I think it was at Buffalo Bill's. That was back in the days when the three hotels there charged about $19 a night during the week. I just looked up some random mid-week nights in February and Buffalo Bill's was asking $150 a night! What a joke! Primm Valley and Whiskey Pete's want $39 and $42 for those same nights. Back in the day all three were about the quality of a low-end Holiday Inn. Unless they've done some incredible renovations, Buffalo Bill isn't worth over $50 a night for ANY night of the year.

We've put in a number of nights over the years, Buff's or Primm Valley. That was many moons ago and then they were on the way down. We still drive by, of course, stop at the outlet once in a while and everything still looks, well, rode hard and put up wet. Of course, that doesn't mean we've seen the rooms lately. But it obviously shown little love. Same thing has happened at that once top-tier golf facility.

I stayed at one of them (I believe it was PVR) as part of a large group trip about a decade ago. I was 21 with little gambling experience and hadn't developed a taste for hotels yet, so little about the room stands out in my memory-- except for the McDonalds trash on the floor and hair in the shower drain of our room when we arrived. Even then, it was a shithole.

I've noticed that too! Whomever came up with $149 per night during the week at Buffalo Bills in February had to be stoned out of his mind. Plus a resort fee on top of that. From the Tripadvisor reviews that I've read, there are no amenities that justify a resort fee.

Multiple reviews have said that more than half of the outlet stores are closed and vacant. Sounds like whoever owns those places are running them into the ground. Unless I hear otherwise from someone who's visited lately, I won't be going.

My SIL stays out there all the time. Will drive all the way there to stay at one of those places from orange county. The one with the mall in it.

She loves it and they treat her right,. never heard any complaints. She doesnt even bother to drive into vegas.

Outlets might not be half empty, but there is plenty of air in there. Funny thing is, when we were last there -- in November -- two of the few shops that always appealed to us were still open, W-S and Bahama. As for the resort, just say no. Life is too short.

I stayed 1 night at Buffalo Bills about 8 years ago. The room was dated, but fine. No issues. The restaurants closed very early compared to Vegas. The casino was pretty dead after dinner as well.

We visited Nov 2019, It wasn't empty, but there were more than a few coming soon posters that seemed to have been there some time. The stores we wanted to visit were open, so it was worth our short side trip from LV.

Stayed there many times at all three sites. Usually only one night—sometimes stop there after leaving Vegas too late in the day and too tired to make it home. Whisky Pete's is awful. But the last time I stayed at Primm Valley, about a year and a half ago, some of it had been remodeled and the casino itself opened up a bit on one end. Not bad, with a decent William Hill race and sports book. And outlets still worth a look, I think. Of course, you never know what you might get right now.

During our last two moves we were amazed recalling all the stuff we bought at Williams-Sonoma there over the many years.

My wife and I like to make a pitstop at Primm to and or from Vegas. Our tradition is stopping by Buffalo Bills and having a drink or two at the Tree Bar. Don't know why, but I love that bar. Bartenders are always nice and are not zombies. The fast food Mexican restaurant across the way from it is actually good. From what I have seen, Whisky Pete's has renovated their rooms over the last year. None of the Primm hotels should have CRT TVs anymore. Now Terrible's in Jean is another story.

The rides seem to be shut down all the time, the casino is dead, feels like it is shutting down in a few minutes no matter when we go. I have always wanted to stay there just for a night though. Wouldn't expect Vegas anything, but a few drinks and a hot streak on video poker and I'd be happy.

Our summer golf trip spent a couple of the nights there in maybe '99 or 2000. Room and golf deal was off the hook. Rooms were so so at Primm Valley, but dinner one night at Whiskey Pete's great. Stopped by the outlet mall the first day and was totally underwhelmed. Casino was nothing exciting. Went back to play the Lakes course a few more times, but no stays.

We stop here only for potty breaks, a little outlet shopping & lottery tickets. I’m superstitious so that incident turned me off to doing anything more here.

Good call on the Tree Bar. As someone who enjoys themed casinos, I love hanging out there.

The sad part is, if Buffalo Bills, Whiskey Pete's, Primm Valley replaced say San Manuel, those properties would be packed, literally 24/7. It's unfortunately that such cool casinos are located so close to Vegas and yet so far from everything else. Heck, even in Reno, Tahoe, Laughlin, or Wendover they would do better.
