Not sure on all the details, but it was announced in the merger that they would take on the "Caesars Rewards" name for the new combined players club.

Perfect. Thanks! After thinking about it longer, CET basically runs Virginia Street, so it's ok to sell one off

    So? Confused?

Uh, maybe I'm just going prematurely blonde here, but does this mean that CET will be abandoning the legacy both-sides-of-the-street Harrah's and moving the action to the row up the street?

I would think it would be a safe bet that they will at some point merge the two players card systems.

Yes. If you've seen the condition of the rooms at Harrahs lately, both towers need complete renovation. I spoke with a friend of mine who was the GM at Harrahs Reno. He said that he could never get funding to renovate even the floor of suites in the West tower. I'll have to post pictures so you can see exactly how dated they are.

The three properties (Eldorado, Silver Legacy, and Circus Circus) are definitely in "better" shape.

Has been maybe 5 years since we were out there. We would usually do a night or two downtown and rest at Tahoe. When visiting the other casinos down the street in Reno, it was like night and day how nice they were compared to Harrahs. That had to be one of the most depressing CET casinos we have been in. Can not imagine what it is like now.

These pictures are from Thanksgiving 2017, from the "Suite Floor" at Harrah's Reno West tower:

The 24th floor of the West tower. The floor has a card key activated door.

Very 70's looking. Clean and quiet, just OLD.

I wonder if this sale gives us any clue about their approach to Atlantic City once the merger is completed. Of those four properties, Bally's is getting long in the tooth itself—although not as rundown as Harrahs Reno apparently.

Yes, arguably dated. Some might say that "Retro" is the style. :)

    But, clean and quiet.

That sums up my room at Harrah's Reno last summer.

As I've stated before, my only issue was the extension cord with the plug peeking out from behind the headboard. It looked makeshift and rinky-dink, and was most definitely a code violation.

If Montbleubeing the next victim is correct, I hope someone who knows slot people at the D can pass it on. They had 2 sigma derby games in excellent condition two years ago. They could be combined and have a triple crown race format in the future. 24 seats = —-a small slot tournament.

An end of an era. My mother and her nieces and cousins lived to go to Reno and Harrah's. I fondly remember when downtown was an amazing, happening place. In my mind, I can still walk out the back of Harold's Club (my all-time favorite casino), enter the alley, and then enter Harrah's or the old Nevada Club.

One night in my late twenties—early thirties, I was in Reno during an off time and saw Harrah's reader board being changed. For one night only, B.B. King. I had to go. I doubt there were 50 people in the venue and I sat at the stage, right in front of B.B. King for something like $20. Pretty cool.

@dmr, I stayed there a couple of nights in 2018 in a room that had the extension cord running behind the headboard and there were not enough outlets for my CPAP near the bed. Their remedy was go give me another extension cord to plug in across the room, behind a dresser.

I'm headed to Reno next week with a 3-night stay booked at Harrah's. I'm conflicted on whether to keep the reservation or switch to Tahoe. On one hand, I've been looking forward to being on Virginia St. and being able to quickly walk to other casinos. On the other hand, with the impending closure and the comments here about the rooms, it feels like the property and the casino workers will be on coast mode knowing the end is coming. I think I'll keep my reservation, but I've spent a lot of time thinking about it...

I did! Changed the trip last minute to be two nights at Harvey's in Tahoe, one night at Harrah's in Reno. When the trip was over, I actually wished that I had stayed in Reno the whole 3 nights. My room at Harrah's was not bad at all--they gave me a balcony room on the 19th floor. My only complaint about the room was the shower head being at chest height. Otherwise, I really enjoyed playing craps up and down Virginia St. Really liked the Row casinos and the Cal-Neva. Harrah's casino was fine, but the dealers lacked engagement or enthusiasm. Not sure if this was due to the impending closure or just their general demeanor. I also realized that I would not go back to Tahoe solely for a gambling trip. On a Friday afternoon, only one craps table was open among all 4 casinos in Stateline, that being a $10 table at Harrah's.

Tahoe rocks during the summer. Clearly right now it is not so fabulous.

Reno is no Vegas but it is kinda fun in its own way as far as doing a crawl in and around the downtown casinos. Often I have trouble getting out of Atlantis if I start my gambling there because I like it so much more than anyplace DT. But is is fun to casino hop.
