I’m looking for some ideas for Christmas gifts for my sister, her husband, my uncle and his girlfriend. We’ll all be going to Vegas for the Super Bowl, so I would like to get them each something in the $25-$50 range that they would use on our January/February trip. Some background. My uncle has been to Vegas numerous times, and is my usual Vegas partner. He would definitely fit in with some of the other so-called “degenerate” gamblers on this board. He lives nearby. My uncles girlfriend and my sister have never been. I imagine they’ll be more interested in the attractions and people, over the gambling aspect of Vegas. I’m not sure if my brother in-law has been. He is a big fan of football and sports in general, and is probably a frugal craps/blackjack player. My sister and her husband currently live a couple of thousand of miles away. He’s a Master Chief in the Coast Guard, so they move every few years and I see them once or twice a year. They’ll be staying in my comped rooms with me. They will be here for about a week around Christmas, so I’d like it to be something I can physically give them, whether that is books, gift cards, something travel related, etc. I’ve pretty much settled on at least a couple of copies of the ACG for my sister and her husband, since they are definitely the frugal couponing type. I was originally thinking some restaurant gift cards might be a good idea, but usually between my uncle and I, we are able to get our meals comped and the meals of those traveling with us. I know that there isn’t much as far as the attractions that my uncle hasn’t been to or seen, but I’m sure there are some places like the Mob Museum that he’d like to go back to with his girlfriend who hasn’t been. A couple of prepaid gift tickets is an option. I’ll have a rental car, and we’re already planning a trip out to the Hoover Dam. Other than that, we don’t have a lot of hard plans. I’m looking for other idea’s for gifts under $50 per person that would make their Vegas trip special, and I know this is the place to get some great ideas! Thanks in advance.
How about taking them to brunch one morning? Lettuce entertain you is doing a free $25 gift card when you buy $100 https://www.leye.com/ You could sit and watch the bellagio fountains and enjoy brunch at MAG I know you said most of your food gets covered by comps but MAG is a little more work to get a comp (or its at least more work to transfer TR credits to a food comp).
Thanks for the suggestion. Dining somewhere special is an option, since my comped meals usually consist of less expensive venues with a single nicer dinner at a steak house. I’ll look into that gift card deal.
Uber or lyft gift card? I spend a lot in Vegas but hate paying "non-fun" charges. Might be nice to have the fare to/from airport covered.
Ugh, sorry I didn't see this sooner. I think it's too late to ship for Xmas, but I bought some GREAT enamel pins off this site and they will be featured in my next TR! Many Vegas and Nevada themed items, and a small biz too. https://battleborn.shop/
Very cool, thank you! Vegas Vic and Vickie are perfect for my uncle and his girlfriend. I ordered them. If they arrive after Christmas I’ll just make them a Vegas trip gift.
What I like about this idea... I’m currently the only guy with a rental car, so I’ll be everyone’s chauffeur. An Uber or Lyft card would give them a free pass to have some alone time, and give me a break! Thanks for the idea.
Afternoon tea at Waldorf Astoria, great in a group. Sightseeing in a StretchLimo with champagne An evening with Live Music - monday night at Bootlegger Coparoom with Santa Fe fat horns Big Band (ticket $10 p.P.)
Money for gambling! Or whatever they want to use it for. Rich or poor, it never hurts to have extra cash. I really don't understand why people don't like to give or receive cash. It's convertible into anything. I also like the ACG idea as long as they can use them = mostly for off strip etc. Or a membership to the Las Vegas Advisor. I no longer give gift cards. it's easy to spend a lot more than $50 on dinner and I feel like giving a gift that someone has to spend some of their own money to use feels kind of like handing someone a coupon. It may be a challenge to use a gift card, especially for a place where they will only be for a few days. What if they can't make it to that place or don't want to eat there? I had this realization after receiving gift cards that I was not able to use them. (A whole book of coupons is another story. Yes, I am aware of the inconsistency. But somehow it feels better, provided it is for people who would want to use them and may not have been aware of them) Once in a while, I will make a bet for someone on his or her alma mater team etc.
