It probably should be noted that this was a 3 day weekend thing, I usually run all night, and don't see MSS or even the Cal making the one open table in the wee hours $10 min soon. Like the Binions glory days, there is some great joy in watching black chip bettors rubbing shoulders with reds, all gunning for any hot roll.

It still makes me laugh thinking about the box man at Cosmo telling me $15 min wins 50% more, I agreed, "until it doesn't". He was also great ribbing me about needing to go borrow my cojones back from the gf. But yeah, I'm going back downtown to roll. Find me drunk and yelling at MSS with the bruddahs.

speaking of which, I ran into this dude and his huge entourage at Boars Head one night, he was performing during some soccer thing.. They were bumping his songs through a bluetooth speaker, and told me they were doing it at the craps table the night before. (would have loved to see that...) I think its a good VP song, I believe we nailed 4 in a row 4oaks in a bank and all got scratchers in the time it took the slot attendant to come out:

@makikiboy , you got any insight into the meaning of "Hokulani"? The "Yo Boys" had me yelling that two nights.

Cal and MSS sometimes have all $10 tables, especially during the busy weeks and weekends. Not sure if there was something big downtown this week (veterans day?). oh, yeah, isn't UH playing in vegas this weekend? Maybe that's why the tables are $10.

During the golden arm week (and tournament) the tables are all $10 also. And previously when they had big celebrations downtown the tables were $10.

Sorry AyDee, I don't like rap songs and refuse to listen to them. But Hokulani means Heavenly Star so not sure what the context was.

Confirmed that Hawaii is in Las Vegas playing UNLV tomorrow. They were showing pictures of the Cal and it is packed with Hawaii people and univ of Hawaii fans.

I was actually playing at the craps tables when the men started bringing in the extra craps tables. I mentioned to the dealer and he said yeah, they're bringing in extra tables in anticipation of the Hawaii/UNLV game.

I played that $3 table at El-Co ONCE. It played at a glacial pace with the OTJ training dealers, which is fine, but more so because lots of players were accusing other players of taking their winning bets. An utter and complete clusterf@#k.
I like playing craps there quite a bit but that $3 game is sllllooowwwww......

That can be the downside to that table...but I've also played it in the early morning hours...between 6-9AM - and everyone there knew what they were doing - including the crew... in fact, that was one of my favorite crap sessions ever - when I joined the table & put my $5 on the pass line, the other 8 or 9 players there started razzing me - they were ALL playing dark-side, and they told me that I'd be joining them soon... I gave it right back to them & told them that, no, they'd be joining me after not-so long...so, they all pass the dice until they come to me...
...and then I went on a really good run... hit something like 4 or 5 points, with lots of other numbers in-between...by my 3rd pass, everyone at the table was betting with me!

they used to run $5 craps pretty often in Margaritaville/Flaming O, especially during non-peak times. Harrahs would have it pretty regularly, too. It's been a bit since I have seen that, although I'm also there mostly on weekends for now.

we played a $5 table at MSS last Wednesday evening and there was one in located in the Plaza's new window pit along with $5 3/2 blackjack complete with hot dealers wearing skimpy golden nights tops and bottoms showing a nice assortment of cleavage and cheeks.

said table.... I'm second from the left in the blue shirt waving , next to Big Tip(who is from Austin) and all the others at the table were part of our crew.... you can see a bit of cheek in the center..... was a super fun time with the fun dealers and my super fun friends/ DG's drink service was great too.
my new favorite place downtown for BJ, Blackjack that is.

The best table was the Plaza quarter table, which was there as late as 1990 if I remember right. You did have to bet 50 cents on the line however, and $1.50 to place the 6 & 8 :)

Ah yes. Same deal at the Binions in early nineties. The table was on the sidewalk or just inside the door. Brown chips were a Quarter. And glass bottles on the sidewalk——those were the days.

Why do I like $5.00 tables. I average $30 per hand but prefer craps tables in casinos that are not crowded off-strip to the mega resorts but I spend the same money at the tables? Any ideas?

Downtown is a crap players heaven.
If you want less crowed tables do the craps crawl downtown starting around 6am.

there was just a craps dealer piece on youtube from that dealer school / CasinoQuest joint, the dealer fondly remembered what he called "Bird Games" - the 25 cent chip ones.

We were recently asked: “Why is (was) it called a Bird Game?” The answer to this question is that in the 50’s and 60’s and maybe even into the 70’s these games were actually dealt in some venues with real silver quarters that feature an eagle on one side of the coin. Imagine those “Birds” flying all over the damn table !

I keep thinking that some casino company is going to change the pass line odds on craps. They'll reduce them below "true odds."

This happened with blackjack. They didn't make enough income off a $5 table after paying the dealer and comping drinks. So they went to 6/5. Same thing could happen at craps tables.

I would rather them go to $10 tables than to reduce the odds. But they'll have to do something to increase their income off the tables. Wages, cost of alcohol, and all their overhead keeps increasing in price. We are delusional if we think they'll be able to offer $5 tables forever. What costs the same now that it did 20 years ago?

Losing at a 5$ craps table? That costs about the same.
Just like 6:5 there will be people that will play. It still amazes me the crapless crap table is busy sometimes. I think you could have a bet for “1” and get play if the odds looked good.

Yeah, very true. I'm very grateful that one can find $5 tables Downtown almost 24/7. But I too would rather they go to $10 than mess with the true odds on the passline and come.
