Here is a room tour and rant about my experience checking in at Planet Hollywood. I would be interested to hear if anyone else has had similar...

I had a similar "you don't rate" experience at Paris, but in my case, I really don't rate, no Diamond here. They were quite nasty about it, shocking really. I realize their job is hard but I wasn't asking for the moon, just my room. Waited needlessly and it soured me on the place.

Ladies getaway, somewhere on the strip with a pool :)

I have a room booked at PH in January....normally stay at MGM properties but my brother got Diamond status through some status matching he did so he is staying there. I wanted to stay close so staying there as well. Kinda nervous about staying there now after the PH video by Matt. May look back into a close MGM property as I am no Diamond either.

I always love your vlogs... love them! wow - that slot pull in the high limit area was so exciting - glad you filmed it all... and I even enjoyed your check-in rant... I agree it is ridiculous - it was almost $1. a minute in your case!!
thanks for sharing and I look forward to your next trip whenever that may be :)

I have had nothing but positive experiences at Planet Hollywood and I have stayed there at a variety of different tier levels. I hope the person you were dealing with was just a bad egg.

I also got my Diamond status via a tier match (from MLife Gold). In 2020 I'll be down to a regular card level.

    Many thanks!

I greatly enjoy these VLOGs. I am always sorry to see them end but I guess you do have to go home occasionally to walk your dog.

My first stay at Bally's in October 2018, I got there at 9:45 am. The lady at the front desk was so nice when she found out it was my first stay there. She checked me in early, told me normally there was a fee but she wouldn't charge me it this time. Said that normally if you oome any time after twelve noon, they will check you in early without charging a fee.
I found that to be true at Mirage my last trip there, I checked in at noon with no fee. I checked in at the VIP lounge, not sure if that made any difference or not.

When I was watching the Vlog, of course as an American in high school in early 90s, I know who he is, but his mother, Mitzi Shore, owned the Comedy Store on sunset boulevard in LA and launched the careers of many a famous comedian. He grew up in that and was left a permanent job as manager in some sort of trust I think in her will when she recently passed. So we may just know him from his silly movies, but he is literally comic blood and can do standup in his sleep with little effort I think. I would have loved the opportunity to catch a free show in Vegas!

Awesome! Thoroughly enjoyed your videos, you do a great job. It almost makes up for me not being able to make my trip this year. I really enjoyed seeing the new things downtown.

I have had only the opposite experience, but I would imagine in relative terms, I do rate. I checked in to my Presidential Suite at Ballys last Tuesday at about 11:15 AM no questions asked, no fees, no bollocks, using diamond checkin. Also checked in early at Paris and Caesar's Palace early without fees or questions (and wasnt diamond yet, twice, when I did at Caesar's Palace). The only time I have not been in early is when I had a suite at CP during a convention and they claimed the room wasnt ready until 3:55PM, but I was moving over from Rio, and they extended my Rio checkout to 4pm at no charge as a courtesy because I had requested a noon checkin at Caesar's and they weren't able to get me in at 4pm. The ONLY time I've ever paid, ironically, is when I was already in a room, added a bonus night and didnt want to change rooms. They booked it as a new 1 night reservation and charged me early checkin fee on the new reservation. At that point I was gold and had no recent play history to speak of.

I love all your videos though and thanks for sharing. My next stop in Vegas is Planet Hollywood but I'm not even getting on the plane from Florida until after work so I definitely wont be early for checkin.

Loved that last vlog Matt, so unlucky on the virtual group pull. It was highly entertaining and I liked that you swapped games, it made it more interesting. Such a shame you all could not get that elusive handpay. Great work and much appreciated :nworthy:

Hey Matt. loved your vlogs as usual. Always look forward to your trips, knowing the vlogs will be super fun. I was actually in Planet Hollywood the same time you checked in. I was on the 28th floor. I have stayed in PH probably over 20 times in the last 8 years, and have never had any issues there. They have always been top notch with service and when checking in. I am Diamond now as I type this, but when I checked into PH last month, I was still Platinum and have always been Platinum. This is the first time that I have hit the Diamond level. I checked in at 11:00 am, since I had an early flight from NYC. The room was ready, no early check in fee, and I have never paid an early check in fee. So something tells me that you just had front a desk person who was an ass. Yes, you get some perks for being Diamond, like not having to pay resort fees, but paying an early check in fee I think depends on what front desk person you get.

I wouldn't worry about it. Stay at PH, the rooms are quite nice, the casino is really fun to hang out in, the Miracle Mile Shops are right there, and the location is great. What happened to Matt is rare. The service there usually is great. Give it a shot, don't let one bad experience by someone give a place a bad rap. I'm sure in every hotel in Vegas, someone, somewhere has had a bad experience with something.

Thanks. I actually ended up keeping my room at PH as the deals I could get at Aria and Bellagio aren't great so I'd have to stay at ParkMGM which is a bit farther than I wanted to be from the people I am going with.

With all that said, my trip actually got extended by a day and my plan was to just stay at ParkMGM since I could get it comped. However, I called PH to just see how much it would be for me to add an extra day for comparison and they comped my extra day which was a Friday. I was pretty excited about that as I only visit Vegas once a year if I'm lucky so I'm the bottom level of reward tiers due to my amount of play and the fact that I tend to play MGM more often.

Figured I'd give PH some credit for doing that.
