Looking to spend a night or two there around Feb 1st - maybe during Super Bowl.

I have comped rooms, but no offers. We have decent offers at places where we visit regular. But none here since we have never been there.

I understand that drinks are not comped on floor or in lounge. Rough idea of costs for beer and wine?

If anyone has a host email - I might see if they can get us any offers. Do they usually have a Super Bowl party there?

    Thanks in advance.

I don't remember how much the drinks were from my September visit, which doesn't tell you much but it means they weren't remarkable in either direction-- maybe six bucks for a beer? Something like that.

And for a bit of unsolicited advice, if you're going to drink booze from your room on the casino floor, make sure it doesn't look like room booze. They will confiscate it as is required by their license.

HarrahsSoCal, like many of the Harrahs Managed Native American properties, doesn't post offers on the "normal" CET schedule. I regularly get offers from Harrahs SoCal, but I have no offers in my queue. I would wait until at least 12/1 for February offers.

Drinks are not comped anywhere on the floor of any local casino I've been to, save for Vegas - liquor license laws and all that.

However they do have numerous happy hours throughout the day, starting with Bloody Marys and mimosas, to beer and wine and select cocktails. The advert is near the bar just off the gaming floor (before walking back to Corked and the food court).

    Thanks.

I don't get ANY offers from there, so waiting is not going to change.

I wonder if a Host there might do something if I contacted them. I did notice that Dana Carvey is performing there on Feb 1st.

Any idea if they do Superbowl parties there?

    Hi Nostresshere,

Harrah's Southern California (I call it Harrah's San Diego) is my home casino and I visit regularly. You can contact my host Nathalie Kawaguchi (tell her I referred you to her) and she'll set you up with a free room. Her email is [email protected]. She told me at least for first time visitors, she can comp a free room even if guests are not big gamblers...but of course, she'd like it if you gambled some. Oops, just read you already have a comped room. In that case, you can try to email her about giving you some food comps (their buffet is pretty good). In this case, she'd definitely expect you to gamble.

Regarding drinks, if you gamble you can get free non-alcoholic beverages like virgin pina coladas, virgin margaritas, hot chocolate (very good), juices, sodas, and even free red bull which amazes me.

Let me know if you have any other questions as I'm very familiar with the casino. Btw, not sure if you play video poker but on vpfree2.com it says their $1 JOB video poker pays back 98.45%, which I think is wrong since the best I saw was video poker paying 8/5 for the full house/flush, which only pays back 97.3%.

Oh and it's very easy to earn comps (food, hotel stays, gifts, gift cards, shows) at Harrah's, so they'll definitely be offered if you gamble a bit.

    Thanks Wildfodie!

Will get in contact with her. Any suggestions on room types? Traveling with wife.

Well if you're given a comped room with no history, I believe they'll just give you a basic room. If you can, request a room in the north resort tower (newer of the towers). I like the rooms higher up with a view of the mountains. I believe though that the north towers only have a walk in shower (a good one too), whereas the south towers have a tub and shower.

Btw, they have a good Laurel Lounge from 2-9pm daily with appetizers (chicken wings, coconut shrimp, egg rolls, etc) beginning at 4pm with a self service soda station.

We are far from "foodies"... but love some appetizers and wine... especially when apps are free... and hopefully wine is cheap....

    Hi Nostress
We are from TN and go to Cherokee every year---we were at Harrahs SoCal in June---it's pretty much "Harrah's Cherokee West"
as far as rules and attitudes. We really enjoyed our time there--the California mountains are much more exotic and fascinating to us than the ole boring Appalachians...lol Not sure what they were charging for booze drinks, but they do have the touch pad ordering on the machines which was very fast and convenient. Our room was low but had a pool view with doors that opened to the outside--- we LOVED pool time without having to go down to the pool! Didn't eat much on property except the food court but we can vouch for Earl of Sandwich and Smashburger! We used the comp room we had for visiting San Diego cheaper--but we'd go back to Harrah's SoCal for it's own sake. It was lovely..hope you get to go.
