I'm interested in seeing this show with my wife but my wife is really shy and I have seen videos of audience interacting and was curious if this was more volunteering or host pulling people on the stage.

I have seen both. Just don't sit down front and you will be fine

I'm guessing that you meant "Absinthe", and I agree with UK Fanatic. We sat near the back and there were no issues.

I specifically recall them "harassing" the people in more expensive seating also (e.g. low and high top table seating) - if you are in the riff-raff seating and not in the front row or two, you should be safe :) I noticed this on a few occasions that I saw this show.

I also think the performers do a great job of scouting the crowd and sizing up who is game to “participate” and who isn’t.

I agree with the others - don’t sit up front and you’ll be fine.

They only mess with the people in the first 3-4 rows, and it's mostly light ribbing. If you don't have the sense of humor to laugh at yourself or others, this DEFINITELY is not the show for you...

I’m okay with light ribbing but I saw online that they had two girls from the audience come up and started pressuring them to make out. Not sure I’m ready for all that! Lol

I have seen them at least 7-8 times and have never seen this nor heard of this.

That was from 2012. We have sat first row every time but the first time we saw the show. I don't know the first year we saw it, but it has always pretty much been the same thing they do at that time. Unless your wife is Asian, she will be fine.

Sorry, what I meant was, I have never seen this act in the show. It has been something different. The only time they have anyone come on the stage is pretty much at the end of the show, and has been the same thing. I wouldn't want to spoil it for you, though.

I saw the show about a month ago and the only time they pulled people on stage was a younger girl and an older gentleman and had them compete in a lapdance contest to another random person sitting in a chair (the old man won hands down as he gave 0 fucks lol)...
