Hi guys. Wondering where the best place is to learn craps? I know they do morning sessions in some places. We normally gamble Linq, Cosmopolitan, Caesars and Cromwell. Any suggestions would be most welcome

I would find a low limit table in the morning. You will find some where the crew is just standing around. Be upfront that you haven’t played and want to learn. Be sure to tip and they will help you out.

Craps isn’t a complicated game but can be overwhelming at first until you learn the lingo and payouts. Do a YouTube search for learning craps and tons of videos will pop up. Watch some of these first to be familiar with the layout and how to make a pass line, odds, and place bet.

I’m an advocate of buying in for $100-200. Put $10 on the pass line. Then ask a question.

Ask the player next to you what you should do.??Craps players are generally, really friendly. Don’t ask big players because they’re focused on all their bets.

Dealers are sometimes helpful....depending on personality.

Take it one step at a time. Ask questions and play.

Thanks guys. I did have a go on the bubble craps last time we were in Vegas but I just kept it simple and to be honest I’d rather play on the table

Ck out the wizard of odds site. You can find info on playing and they have a free simulator you can play for free to test your play.

The lessons are great because you usually do a live session afterward.
Focus on the Pass/Don't Pass bet as well as the odds and 1-2 place bets.
That is enough to give you plenty of action.
The rest will come as you play, watch, learn with all other sessions.
Empty tables can be hard to find on the strip, plus the table min could be $10-$15.

ASK. Go between tables, lean over the rope, and ask one of the pit people, "Do you have craps lessons?"
They will know. If the casino does have lessons they will generally be about 10:00am on a closed table with fake chips. One or two guys teaching. At the end of the 20 minutes they will usually give you a $10 credit (or at least they used to) towards playing. CET is usually pretty good about having regular lessons. Cosmo, I doubt.

My friend and I for fun went to Park MGM's craps lesson. They give you free chips after and the instructor was awesome. And they'll open up a $5 table for those who took part in it.
But their tables are like 30 ft. long which is terrible.

Downtown in the mornings are great places to learn craps. The tables in the mornings are usually slow up till about 10am.

Many times the dealers are just standing around. This is the best time to learn how to play. Walk up to the table and tell them you'd like to learn. If you like place a passline bet for the dealers along with your bet up front. It's a worthwhile investment because it shows the dealers you appreciate their input.

If the tables start to get busy as more players join in, stick with your basic knowledge you learned and just bet those bets you're comfortable with. Refrain from asking too much questions and just WATCH the game.

You'll be surprised at how much you will learn by just watching.

It's everyday at 11am. Look for a guy in a crazy looking suit, lol. I see him quite a bit and he usually wears a bright teal, orange, etc. suit.

Definitely take the lesson first! Ask questions. They are very helpful. I took the lesson at NYNY, and it was well worth the time. Plus I got a $10 match play voucher.

Also read the sticky on craps in the table games forum. Again, we’ll worth the time.

Tuggy, you said that you play at the Linq. When my wife and I are in Vegas every January for the NFL playoffs, after getting my morning coffee at the Mirage, our home away from home I always walk across the street to Harrah's and the Linq. They sometimes have $5 tables and the dealer have always been nice and helpful to players with any questions that they have.

I did the craps lesson at the Golden Nugget. They also used to have them at the Venetian. All free. Usually about 10 or 11 am-ish?
Of course after my lesson, back in the day, there were about 15 of us and we went across to Binions & all played on a $3 table.....

This is yet another reason I miss the original O'Shea's. They had cheap gaming all morning with lessons for Bj, Craps, Let it Ride, Roulette and just about any other table game. You could play $2 BJ there all morning and afternoon learning The STRAT and not feel like you were throwing away your bankroll while learning.
