D, you got just to the letter D? A kindergartener can at least get to the letter G. :D

Good luck and have an amazing time.

My buddy and I got to U and mutually decided that it wasn’t necessary to go any farther.....and there weren’t any drinks we really WANTED to have at that point. No royals yet.....I did manage the four aces (no kicker) and am down modestly for the trip so far. Went to bed about 8pm and got a straight 12 hours of sleep, now up and at ‘em. I think today we head to the strip to explore. The phone connectivity sucked on the casino floor so that’s why I gave up on doing regular updates. Lost my parlay bet, had a lobster grilled cheese and some awesome clam chowder, and a much needed burger and fries at Steak N Shake. Great fun so far.

At the airport with about 45 minutes to spare, so I’ll give a little recap. I had really hoped to give more LIVE updates but almost no cell service on the casino floor so I kinda gave up after a while.

Other than finishing the trip down moderately with the gambling, it couldn’t have been better. And I even made up a little ground today an hour before I left, playing DDB and getting the four aces, and the four 4’s with a kicker. I mostly played 8/5bp at Southpoint, put a tiny bit of play on a STP machine and would occasionally bump up to .50 on VP. But this trip wasn’t about gambling as much as some other trips have been. In no particular order.....

Drank through the alphabet.....up to U the first day, then finished the next morning. I think from a sobriety standpoint I could have finished the first day (especially after we pounded a burger and fries at Steak and Shake), but my buddy and I sort of mutually agreed that we were just tired of drinking that day and frankly didn’t have any good ideas for the remaining drinks. However, the next morning the fun young lady who was tending bar at the Island Bar at Southpoint convinced us to finish and she got out the little black book and made some great drinks until we got to Z. I remember drinking a “urinal” “vanilla sky” and a “Y.I.” I also introduced my friend to his new favorite drink, nuts and berries

Last night I asked my host for a comp the Silverado steakhouse at Southpoint. She gave me $150 and at the end the bill was $150.57. Had burgundy mushrooms, lobster bisque, rolls, salad, large prime rib, and a baked potato the size of my head. Oh and a glass of wine. To me, it was all very good, but I’m not a food snob.

We did bowl at Southpoint as well, beautiful lanes. Three games didn’t cost much at all and a great way to kill an hour. I won only the final game, despite him throwing up a turkey on the 10th frame

Speaking of throwing up, I embarrassingly have to mention that my friend and I went to see a movie at SP a few years back (it was “American Sniper”. And my friend actually threw up during the movie. Ugh. But he never got up and we finished watching the movie. And yes, when we left we apologized and told them what had happened. Well after we finished Steak and Shake on Sunday, I was ready for bed but he wanted to go see a movie. He told me the next day that we went to see “some movie”.....he thinks it was 47 Meters Down, got his popcorn and drink and literally doesn’t remember anything after the opening credits. Then when the lights came up and he exited the theater her went in the bathroom and threw up. Geez. You can’t take some people anywhere

I used the new sports betting kiosks twice at SP, those were simple and easy to use. And of the five games I had bet on, I lost four. That’s harder than it looks.

Had 2 Bowls of the greatest clam chowder in existence, at the Oyster Bar at SP, also split the Lobster Grilled Cheese there, it was tasty but super rich. I’m a good eater but pretty sure I couldn’t have finished it on my own

We took an Uber to the strip on Monday because we wanted to go to Nacho Daddy and have some good quality Mexican food and drinks and ogle the wait staff. Wel we did all that, but the next poor decision was to go right next door the the fancy new Taco Bell and get even more food. He didn’t believe me that such a monstrosity existed, so we had to partake.

Also had a late night meal at Zenshin at SP. I was very impressed with everything we had. Excellent bowl of pork ramen soup which was just what I needed that night.

Never had breakfasts. By the time we got up and had a couple bloody Mary’s and gambled a little, it was close enough to lunch.

The room was comped upfront, despite me not staying there for over two years. They’re good like that. I put about $140 of food charges to the room, which were comped, and of course the extra $150 for the steakhouse. I feel well taken care of. They had some promotion where they were giving away commemorative Southpoint 400 bottle of flavored moonshine, so I’m coming home with six of those. I really can’t imagine staying anywhere else now in Vegas. I love the food options, the layout, the video poker, the bowling and movies for a break, and I don’t pay for food and room. Great, great trip.

Thanks for the SP trip report, can't wait to get there on Sat.

I believe the bartender you speak of was Donna, and she is a sweetheart, she normally brings me a sugar free redbull without asking.

Nice report! Unfortunately, I didn't get down to SP this time. I've broken Aces full on Bonus before too, but it was only 6/5. ;)

Thanks for the recap on your trip. South Point sounds like a great place, but I love the Strip, and just don't venture out to those other places. I did go a few times to the Orleans though, when I go with my stepson. We go to the movies there and bowl a couple of games.

If you like gambling, bowling, movies, and good food, you can't go wrong with SP.
