So my husband and I have been to Vegas a few times before, last time in 2013. The last 2 times we stayed at MGM and Cesar's. We are taking a friend this time and he has never been. We are staying within his budget with these choices above. Thinking about the hotel as a whole: rooms and casino which would be the best choice? We are looking at late November or first few weeks of December. Also we are only looking at renovated rooms.

Flamingo out of those choices. The flamingo rooms are the newest.

Ballys isn't bad but the casino is kinda MEH.

Of those, I'd probably go with Linq for a first timer, and then you're smack bang in the middle of everything.

I know Flamingo isn't far, but I was watching Matt Bridger's walk throught the whole Linq area last night and it looked like you could spend a weekend just getting around there!

I prefer Bally’s. The resort tower was just renovated and the rooms are huge. They have made some changes to the machines in the casino that I’m not a fan of, but we play a lot at Paris so that’s fine.

The rooms at the Linq are the worst of the bunch.
Harrah's rooms have been renovated also and I always like the lively atmosphere there with Carnival Court and the piano bar.

I would go with The Linq. Rooms are nice, a lot going on the casino floor and restaurants all around. Flamingo in a newly renovated room would be my second pick.

I wouldn't recommend Bally's just because it's set so far off the strip. Since he's a first-timer he is probably going to want to see a lot, and not want to spend the first and last 10 minutes of every day walking without leaving the property!

I'm going to eliminate Linq...my husband says he doesnt like the rooms there at all. Also probably Ballys if it is set back. Flamingo seems to be in the middle of everything. I do not remember much about Harrahs when we were there before, we only walked into the casino briefly.

Though the rooms aren't very big I would choose Harrah's. It's also close to the Linq promenade. Bally's like the poster above said is a long walk to the strip and the Linq smaller rooms. I stayed in the Go room several years ago and didn't like the glass sliding doors to the bathroom the room didn't appeal to me. I now always stay at Caesars so I might be spoiled staying mostly in the Augustus Tower.

The Flaming Oh. Why? Because it's a tad better than Bally's (and the casinos aren't overly different). All of them are within easy walking distance (assuming no mobility issues, 'casue "far" is a subjective term) of one another, and Bally's is connected to Paris. Harrah's isn't on the agenda. Yeah, if that list is exhaustive, Flamingo.

See, you don't have to think that way though. That's the beauty of center strip, you can pick the best available room in your budget, then spend time in ALL the resorts in that area and still have a short walk back to your home base. There are upsides and downsides to all of your chosen options but you don't have to put up with any of them if you pick the best available room (probably Bally's) then just roam.

I would pick Flamingo and then Bally's if I were making your decision (personally I like the Bally's rooms better though). I'm not sure if they finished the Mardi Gras renovations yet at Harrahs and they are in the middle of renovating various other parts of the hotel. I haven't stayed at Linq but I believe they will be the worst rooms out of your list. Everything is fairly close together on your list (by Vegas standards) and if the complaint about Bally's is that is it set back, that will depend on where you are going. Even if it is set back it is closer to Cosmo and the Bellagio Fountains and some of the other MGM properties. And the back of the casino has a path of shops and restaurants that lead to Paris.

Last year CET had some great deals and even comps for micro players at the end of Nov and beginning of Dec. Maybe with the merger that won't happen this year but keep watch for them.

I would stay at Bally's, either the Jubilee rooms or Resort rooms. Since Bally's (my fav place to stay), and Paris (my fav place to gamble and listen to live music in the casino), you are getting a 2 for 1 combo.
I personally prefer the Jubilee rooms facing Paris and the Tower of Eiffel, but either Tower will be fine, especially that you won't have the need to use the Pool.
The great thing is the food/drink choices at both Bally's/Paris. You can get a quick lunch at Bally's food court next to the Sports Book, or the Bazaar in front of Bally's with numerous food choices......and/or right next door you have Mon Ami Gabi, GR Steaks, French pastries, Hexx, etc.
    Good luck.

I can be from my room at Bally’s and on the strip in less then 5 mins which is faster then most hotels. People are giving it a bad rap for sitting back on the strip but the actual rooms are closer to the strip the most hotel rooms are on the strip

Bally's entrance is set back about 105 metres from the strip, which is less than 1 minute at typical walking speed. Unless you have severe mobility problems this should not be an issue; and it's worth noting that parts of Flamingo and Linq extend 200+ metres away from the strip - it's just internal so less noticeable.. First time in Vegas? If you can swing a fountain view at Bally's you're getting the definitive Vegas view from your room. It's connected to Paris which is the classiest ambiance of any property on the list.
