Has anyone stayed or played here?
I am thinking about taking a 3-4 day mini-vacation to Kansas City and I have some comp nights available here.
Tell me about the place and specifically which tower is better to stay in: the KC tower or the Vegas tower?

I have stayed there. I actually really enjoyed it. I hate to say I don't remember the name of the towers (it's been a couple years). We stayed in the tower closest to the casino & further away from the check-in. At that point in time that was the nicer of the two towers. Comfortable beds - similar room styling and set up to many other CET rooms (in my opinion) - Council Bluffs, Joliet, Horseshoe Tunica, former St Louis Harrahs.

I enjoyed the casino also. (Slot player). Large and lots of machines that I enjoyed. Actually disappointing that it is a significant drive from me. BFF & family and I do go to Council Bluffs which is only slightly shorter, but no horrid traffic driving there.

Tried looking at website - I'm making a guess here just because of the room photos but I would say we stayed in the Vegas tower from photos decor. Pricing is now the same but I know previously one located closer to casino was more expensive.

The Las Vegas tower is closest to checkout, but only by about 20 steps.

I was there in June and found it alright, nothing too special, but nothing off-putting. The standard mix of games (table and machine, penny and up). It was completely fine.

While in KC, we also hit the Ameristar (Boyd-ish), the Isle of Capri and the Argosy. In terms of atmosphere and aesthetics, we preferred Ameristar and Argosy (in that order). Isle of Capri seemed like a low-roller joint and a little old, so of course it was the only casino in which I booked a win.

I stayed there last year but I do not remember which tower we were in. The room was quite nice and the bed was very comfortable. We got a very cheap rate through Priceline.

We did not visit the casino as we were headed (in another 2 days) to Tunica and my wife wanted to limit our potential losses.

I keep getting offers from them, alas, weeknights only usually, but occasionally for a weekend. The hotel is surprisingly nice. The buffet is, well, there. I was kinda p*ssed when they took out the good steakhouse a few years back. The only problem is that I don't seem to win very much there! I do much better over at Ameristar.

We stay there about once a month. Hubs has to travel to KC for work and who’s going to turn down free rooms. I find the Las Vegas Tower nicer than the KC Tower and I always request it. Bathroom is bigger. Restaurants, buffet is open most nights and usually have a comp for that. Not the best buffet but most nights are not expensive. Friday night is crab leg night and very crowded. Steakhouse there is 37 Steak. Not cheap but sometimes they have specials going. Best escargot ever there. Winning Streaks is like a sports bar. Bean and Bite is quick fast sandwiches, pizza and breakfast.
Lots of video poker and it’s very popular there. Bar upstairs called Twist has a DJ and sometimes a band on weekends. Small non smoking area on 2nd floor. They recents put in new escalators to the 2nd floor.

I will post my impressions in October. I wanted to visit a city I'd never been to, where I could cash in SWA points for a free flight, get a comped room, and watch Patrick Mahomes play quarterback. Kansas City fit the bill, so I'll do a TR that helps people better understand the rooms (I went with LV Tower) and casino/food options.

I go with a group every year for Super Bowl and I like it a lot. 37 Steak is very good, and they have good deals in the bar there. Sports Bar is hit or miss, but has the usual burgers, sandwiches, wings and pizza stuff. My buddy is mainly a craps player and has excellent luck and loves the dealers. Video poker is decent, and they have lots of it. They have recently removed lots of the old really good Aristocrat slots and replaced them with new stuff, but they still have a good variety. Cocktails are not free on the floor, but they are pretty cheap.

I also prefer the Las Vegas tower, but either will do. There are some fabulous barbecue places in KC, so be sure to get off property to try at least one. 39Q is my favorite.

I'd pick the Vegas tower given a choice.

    The buffet is decent.

If you like craft beer, also check out winning streaks. You can also bring the beer into the casino from there.

I stay there a few times a year when in town for Chiefs games. I prefer the Las Vegas Tower as well. Nothing fancy, but with the addition of winning streaks and "bite and bean" now complete, it feels like you have a few more options. Tread carefully with the noodle place late at night. A buddy got very sick after eating it.

I HIGHLY recommend utilizing Uber or Lyft to get to the game. I just reviewed my last two trips and it was $17 to get to the stadium and $46 to get back to Harrahs. $46 may seem like a lot, but it's worth it to me not to wait hours getting out of the parking lot. Drop off is right on the hill overlooking the stadium. After the game, wait until you get a little closer to the pick up point before ordering your ride or make sure to drag your location to the pick up point. If you decide to drive, there are a few parking lots by Denny's (East-ish of the stadium) that charge around $20. Again, it's worth the walk to be able to hop the curb and be on I-70/I435 taking you back to Harrahs. There are also a few others just down the street from Taco Bell and the gas station (BP I think).

Which game are you going to? Maybe we will run into each other. I believe I'll be there for the Packers game.

Getting out of the parking lot at Arrowhead is measured in years not hours.

I love it for Royals baseball. Never really a problem. But we also have been known to leave in the 8th inning and run to Ameristar...lol

I am going to visit the National World War One Museum and visiting some BBQ joints.
Sounds like the Vegas tower is the way to go.
If I decide to go I will post a review for the room.

Ameristar is better than Harrahs, of course I have not been there since Boyd took over.

LV Tower is a larger room with a walk-in shower. (Though I think that tower will need refreshing in the near future to keep up with Argosy rooms.) No pool at Harrah's. Room has refrigerator. No room safe.
Buffet is decent, brunch is a good deal, though I usually have comps.

Regarding Ameristar KC I found it a bit smokey the times I've been there.

Both are pretty smoky, imo. And Pile of Debris, I mean Isle of Capri, is even worse.

I've been to Harrah's KC several times. I have to say of all the Harrah's properties that I have visited (20) this property has the most polite and friendly employees. Every time I pass one of their hotel/casino employees in the hallways on my way to/from my hotel room I have always been greeted with a smile and a "How are you?" I prefer the Las Vegas tower because of the larger bathroom with a separate shower stall and bathtub. You have to hike a little bit to get to the casino from the hotel, but it is not too bad of a trek; certainly not like Harrah's Southern Indiana. The diamond lounge is large and the food selections have been okay. You have to pay for your alcoholic drinks, but they discount the price compared to what you pay for on the casino floor. The casino has two floors with table games on the main floor and video poker area on the upper floor to the left of the escalators. They provide all the slot machine action you could hope for. I've dined at the steakhouse once and the food was average, but the service was excellent. The buffet is solid; not great but solid and again the service from the employees was outstanding. The only thing that I can think of that they don't have at this property is a pool. I live in southern Minnesota and I usually make a "loop" by driving to Harrah's Council Bluffs for a couple of nights then drive down to KC for two more nights to complete my trip.

I used to live in KC before I moved to Vegas in 2013 (hence the name KCSCOTT).I Prefer Ameristar to Harrah's. KC had Sams Town which was a Boyd priperty when they first had casinos in the 90s and now I guess Boyd is back. For BBQ I like Arthur Bryant's-don't bother with Gates
