So, I’m looking at booking rooms for my November trip, I know the week I’m going is the UH/UNLV football game but, seriously, $599 a nt for Friday, Saturday and Sunday! Who in their right mind would pay such an outrageous amount!

What the heck week is that??? I'm there at the beginning of Nov. and I know for DT I see the prices jump for Life is Beautiful. That's outrageous. That sounds like a NYE type price.

@hard6 Weird! I got confused about Life is Beautiful. I have a Sept. trip and Nov. trip. I hope someone jumps in here...is UNLV so popular that it would jack up prices like that? I hope you get it sorted out.

Maybe part of their current computer glitch
Or if you are talking about downtown Boyd's could be a very big weekend for their Hawaiian people

MSS shows a pretty ridiculous rate also. I’m sapphire and they want over $1,300 for that weekend, for 2 nights ....CRAZY!

Sounds like a bunch of rooms have been booked up for folks flying in to watch the game. My guess is their charter service is beyond capacity for that weekend.

Another massive recession would fix that. Anyone interested in one of those?

Well, busy or not, you certainly have many options of not staying at Boyd hotels.
I see the same weekend $132 per night at Plaza, for instance. It's high, but not as crazy as Boyd.

$1,800 for three nights PLUS resort fee! After all, how can Boyd break even on $600 nights unless it applies the resort fee?

Yeah, I was tracking the Vacations Hawaii charters and the charter for Tuesday through Sunday is practically full. The charter for Sunday through Friday of that same week is practically empty.

University of Hawaii / UNLV football games are very popular. When UNLV is playing here in Hawaii the stadium is packed to the max. Same as when UH plays at UNLV. The Hawaii people come in droves. And not only on the Vacation Hawaii Charters. They come in with Hawaiian Airlines among others.

Boyd have game packages where they provide buses from Downtown Boyd properties to the stadium and back. And at the MSS parking lot they have tailgate parties.

You're looking at the total for all nights.

We don't need a recession. We just need them to cluelessly overbuild capacity. The good news is 777 new rooms at Circa and another 500 at DTG. I wonder if they're going to open up more rooms at Binions.

I can't vouch for accuracy, but once when I called after seeing the same kind of ridiculous prices, I was told that it was their computer's "funny" way of indicating no vacancy! Maybe they'd make a vacancy for anyone willing to pay those prices, but I rather doubt it. Just sharing what I was told.

Downtown is EXTREMLY rough during the iHeart music festival weekend. It's the one time strip hotels are consistently cheaper than DT. FWIW, I feel that's the best weekend of the year, I'll be at Paris!
