I hate those. Back here in WI and what is becoming a trend is for the potato pancakes that come with a Friday fish fry to be deep fried. Yuck, that is not a potato pancake! It then tastes the same as a tater tot.

They all laugh when I spend my ElCo F&B credit at Naked City Pizza, but this is part of the reason I make that decision.

We also had a $25 food credit. Next time it's naked city pizza if we go back there. And their so-called drawings that's a whole new subjects. LOL

The old hash browns were good. Then they went with the McDonald's version of hash browns. i was just there in May. Now they're tater tots? Good grief. C'mon El Co. Plus, they raised their Prime Rib price months ago from $10.99 to $12.99. Not liking the trend.

Siegel's is definitely overpriced but i have so many food credits there I just go ahead and use some there.

Only a true disappointment to those of us who remember Roberta’s/The Flame. For others it’s the literal answer to the hypothetical question “How can you screw up breakfast?”

Maybe someone needs to give the kitchen a picture of hash browns vs tater tots. Bummer.
There’s nothing better than some crispy hash browns with sunny side eggs.

I won one of their drawings back in may, I won 75000 pts on a spin the wheel thing(which I immediately cashed in for $150).

I agree the crowd for the drawings is very interesting, all regulars, very interesting characters, the Cortez people know them all, every spin gets "where's Marge or I just saw Jimmy, etc". they looked at me and said "1st timer, good luck"

I agree that seigals just isn't that good anymore, I typically get $50-100 of food with my offer so I'm forced to eat there, I have almost no complaints when it's free. I got those sad hash browns as well, it's just not right.

I arrive at El Co Sunday night for a 3-night solo trip (will try the remodeled tower room). Have to agree that Siegel's isn't anything to write home about. But then is anything at El Co? And weirdly that's how I like it. Maybe the problem is that Siegel's is just too new, and it hasn't had a chance to absorb the aroma that brings us all back again and again. It will get there--remember the old "coffee shop" where anyone under 85 and mildly ambulatory was suspect? In the meantime, I too love how comps seem to accumulate on my card faster than I can use them. Instead of stopping at the airport liquor store for my in room fix I know I know I can just load up on pints at the gift shop. Also, though I'm a low carb kind of guy, I always comp a few sickly sweet Mike's Hard Lemonades before setting down to a few hours of bubble craps. It's become a bit of a tradition. The nice Asian lady pit boss will remember me at the regular craps table, ask how my father is doing, I'll run the 4 & 10 up to $800 or so at some point during the trip, get a cheap foot massage upstairs, drop in to say hi to Nords, and all will be well with the world. I used to stay on the strip, and will have to do so with my wife later this summer, but it won't be the good 'ole El Co that's for sure.

You take us well beyond the tater tot fiasco into the heart of the Cortez. I’ve been a patron since 2005 and the basics keep me coming back. That old coffee shop was exactly like eating breakfast in the cafeteria at your Grandma’s nursing home, but at least someone cared about the food and a little service. Now, out of necessity, I’ll eat breakfast at Siegel’s on the morning of the flight, but I try to spend most of my F&B comps at the Parlour Bar happy hour.

Please tell me you don't know Jeremy now! (he took Scottie's spot) - Jeremy is good guy and for any newbies going to El Co hit the Parlour Bar between 10a-6pm and he'll give you a generous pour.

I managed to get called for one drawing a couple of years ago after a couple days of above average play. It's hard to compete with the locals who have a week's worth of tickets (perhaps with multipliers) for every single drawing. The staff do seem to be on a first name basis with almost all the winners. The drawings probably add a lot EV for the regulars. It's added less than $10 a trip for me.
Siegel's seemed to start out as an unsuccessful compromise between their fantastic coffee shop and their pretty good steak house. I rolled with their McD's hash browns, but tater tots is throwing in the towel.

What bothers me there is their fetish with the table places, they'll seat you at a table for 2 or 4, then they run over and remove the non used placemats/utensiles. Then when someone leaves they clear the table and put them all back, I sit there watching that while my glass needs a refill, makes no sense.

they raised their prices on a lot of things.
I go to Siegel's to use my food comps and I know what to expect from them going in.
I would never pay for the food (and some of it is good) or the surly attitudes.
Naked City Pizza does not turn me on either.
and the drawings, I think I did get called once, but yeah it is usually the people that live there (on the casino floor) that get called over and over.
if they are spending their retirement / SS checks there every month, maybe they deserve it.

Yeah, Is Naked City any good? I have a tough time going anywhere downtown other than Pizza Rock when I want pizza. ElCo used to have an awesome late night happy hour at the bar. Hope they can do better in the future.:(
