The Linq vs Flamingo

Or pay for a daybed and you can also skip the line and have your own reserved space. It's really the best way to do it!

 

I have stayed at both places and I would choose Flamingo. I had trouble getting hot water in the Linq. It was minor enough of a gripe, but I definitely avoid it now. The casino is fun, however, and there is HHAGG nearby.

 

You have a much wider selection of room types at Flamingo. Here's 2 you might consider.





If you choose LINQ, you might want to look into one of the rooms being a cabana room. They have an outdoor private patio poolside with cocktail service. Plenty of seating on the patio, as well as a large flat screen. The rooms themselves are pretty small and only have a king bed. But they also have a fridge. And they provide quick access to the casino.

 

Speaking of the Flamingo Go pool, I got online to book a daybed for a Saturday in July, and the rate was $300 + $60 “Service Charge” + $30 “Processing Fee” ($390 total).

It also said there was a food and beverage minimum in addition to the bed rental.

Is this the going rate, or should I wait until I’m there and try to negotiate it down?

Also, does anyone know how much the additional food and beverage minimum is? There was nothing on the Flamingo webpage.

 

That's the going rate for a Fri-Sun. The food and beverage minimum is equal to the cost of the bed. so Your food/bev min woul dbe $300 in addition to the cost of the bed. We usually book ours on Wed or Thurs and it's $100 plus $100 food/bev.

 

Friday, Saturday and Sunday they have known DJ's or performers so it's more expensive. The pool will be packed!

I’ve read them all and the suggestions are great.
This Hash House a Go Go place that keeps getting mentioned looks unreal.
I’ve never heard of it, and this is why I love getting these kind of replies.

We usually try and do one higher end meal, last year we did Momofuku and it was great.
Any suggestions that would be similar to that kind of experience? We want fun and trendy and less luxurious and fine dining.
Or any other Must Try restaurants for us Canadians? IE: In N Out (Which I’ve done but my brothers have not).

I am torn but I am leaning towards the Flamingo. We would be staying in a double queen strip view Flamingo room.
And with the Linq so close, we can still enjoy all of its amenities, correct? The only thing we would really miss out on is the actual room itself.
We don’t plan on living in our room, mainly a little pre-drinking spot and for sleeping. The GoPool we would use 2-3 times and it’s a large factor when deciding over the Linq.
The Linq pool looks like a neighbourhood public pool that tries hard to be a party pool, haha.

I’ve been to Omnia, Hakassan, Tao club and Encore. I like Omnia for the wow factor but it’s busy.
What’s your favourite club during Sunday to Thursday?
Also, I see Oshea’s mentioned a lot, this sounds right up our alley. Any other places like this?
Lots of people, good vibe but not as expensive and exhausting as a night club?

Can't correct the formatting, so here's my reply to above.

The LINQ pool isn't quite that bad. What really makes it is having the Cabana Poolside Room with the private patio. But yeah, the GoPool at Flamingo is more what you're looking for.

I would STRONGLY encourage you to book at least 2, but ideally, 3 rooms for your group of 6. Or look into one of the suites I mentioned above. I'm pretty sure you can get the Luxury Suite(1200 square feet) with 2 queens and it has a pullout couch bed and 2 bathrooms. Mid April all-in price is $1607, which comes to about $268 per man. Even that doesn't give each guy his own bed. But it gives you lots of room, an extra bathroom, and lots more comfort. Or call and ask about the bunk bed rooms.

6 guys in a Flamingo room with 2 queens and 1 bathroom is NOT the way to do this up.

 

White Castle ! There's one at Casino Royale and also Fremont Street. A glorious taste not to be found anywhere else in nature.

Nobody goes to In N Out anymore, it's too crowded.

Best and ONLY solid cocktail service I’ve had at a TR proper the last 10 years? Bally’s KENO lounge... service is spot fucking on and quick. No dicking around.

I like to stay at flamingo but gamble at linq

 

The pool at flamingo is the only reason to go over there but it’s a great place to be and it will be packed!. But you can stay at the Linq and just walk over to the pool at flamingo makes no difference. Casino at the Linq is much better and O’Sheas is always lively. Hash house is great. If you want great higher end food but also economical then go to Ruth Chris At harrahs next-door for happy hour between 5 and 6 PM Monday through. $15 steak sandwich. Drais Night club at Cromwell is on the roof with plenty of people watching to do. They will also have a lounge there with a DJ or band playing that’s free. Flamingo casino is smoky and old but there are a couple beautiful dealers I don’t mind playing with or having a drink after hours with. They go to the little bar at linq when they’re done with shift. I would stick with the Linq But you will have access to all of that stuff no matter where you stay.

 

The linq elevators are the old ones from when it was IP. painfully slow, especially during checkout. Would avoid and go Flamingo.

 

Great choice to stay in the middle of the strip, my last 4 trips have been twice at Flamingo, twice at Bally’s, both should be right along the lines of what you’re looking for. I’ve heard that the Linq elevators are a real pain, and that the rooms are a bit small... I’d go with Flamingo if those are the two you’re focused on. There’s one tower at Flamingo (can’t remember which one) that has you extremely close to the Linq (took me less than 5 minutes from room to O’Shea’s). I spent more time at the Linq than Flamingo, but the pool is really solid at Flamingo.

For dinner options, I know you said fun rather than fancy, but if you can convince people to splurge, go with Joe’s across the street at Caesar’s. Absolutely delicious with the best service. For a really budget friendly option, you’re a close walk from Ellis Island, their steak dinner and craft beer deals are amazing deals, definitely a great option for a group of guys that should cost you under 20 each including 2 beers. Nacho Daddy is another option that is a bit more on the fun side of things.

I’m from Canada as well, and used to book the package deals. I’ve taken the advice of people on boards, and booked separately for better deals. Book direct through the Caesars site, you can rebook free of charge if the price drops. Then just alternate checking between air canada and westjet for flight deals. If you’re dead set on package deals, I always found westjet vacations to be better priced than Expedia.

 

Maybe it's CW-dependant. When I was in Harrahs at Valentines, playing VP, I tipped the CW a $5 (on the first, $1-$2 on the subsequent drinks) and she kept showing up before I could even finish my drink. Place seemed about as crowded as usual for mid-morning.

 

Do they charge hotel guests to use the go pool at flamingo? When I had a look around flamingo, it seemed to have a tiny pool which was open access then the crowded go pool with a huge queue and bag searches etc.
