Holy cow someone was having a bad day.
On our last trip we were delayed at the gate for hour and half I believe it was. I made similar joke with attendant that we should all get free booze for the wait. Glad mine had a personality.

    Unexplainable.

It would really be cool if commercial airlines actually needed our business. Perhaps then, training in customer service would be a priority.

Seeing as how it was Southwest, she was probably having a bad menopause hot flash day.

I read this article the other day and it's just ridiculous. My last time leaving Vegas we boarded and de-boarded 3 times before finally waiting another 3 hours for a new plane, then finally boarded for good a fourth time. The woman next to me was hitting it hard every time we got off the plane and was totally hammered by the time we took off, and they let her fly. Moral of the story: joke about booze and get kicked off, drink all the booze and fly home oblivious to the fact that you are even on a plane.

If the events are as they read then, Wow. Just wow. I have spent the better part of 5 years flying all over gods half acre and have been delayed/canceled you name it. I've personally witnessed travelers acting a whole lot worse than this and nothing came close to this reaction. The guy had little choice but to comply but I'd sure as hell be raising a class A stink after the fact. Yikes.

Southwest will probably give him a stack of drink tickets as an apology

I heard this on the radio on my way home from work yesterday, and agree, if we're getting the whole story, this shouldn't be acceptable. At all. I believe what they said on the snippet I heard was that he was actually arrested and charged with disturbing an airliner or some such homeland security type nonsense which can really put a black mark on a permanent record. That just seems outrageous to me, but I at least hope there's more to the story than that.

I hope so too. His joke is something I probably would have uttered under similar circumstances. Guess it's better just to keep mouth shut – as is usually the case.

Wow, if this is true, it is way out of line. The flight attendant should be better trained, if not disciplined. While an argument can be made that people shouldn't make certain jokes on airplanes (about hijacking or bombs), being kicked out for making a harmless joke about getting vodka instead of water is insane. Hopefully, southwest investigates and takes action against the stewardess and compensates the passenger.

And, even more importantly, the passenger should be compensated for being forced to miss the flight.

Notice once again how we only get half of the story. The half from the guy who got kicked off.

There is more to it, there always is.
