if I didn't have comped rooms downtown, I would be willing to take them up on this offer. the RF at GN is always a deal breaker for me.
I am glad to see them offering it again.

Pay ~$30 per night more for the room, but have no resort fee.

I think the room I have at the Rush Tower was less all in than a Carson on this deal :D

Yeah, kind of looks like they just jacked up the room rates to make up for the "no resort fee," plus they deleted the freebies they usually offer when booking direct (e.g., 2 for 1 buffet).

This is what a lot of people have been asking for - increase the room rate and eliminate the resort fee.
The other point is the offer has to be booked through the GN website cutting out 3rd party sites.
That was one of the big points of resort fees to start with. That and the ability I've read to charge a different tax rate on the resort fee amount as opposed to the rate of the room(occupancy tax).

Interesting if they are upping the rate and removing the resort fee. Sounds like the kind of experiment they might do to see how the RF is effecting bookings.

At least the consumer knows upfront the true cost of the product and can make an intelligent decision.

If you can't work out the trust cost of the product, you probably shouldn't be going to Vegas :D

It's not tough to find the true cost these days. You can google resort fees for LV hotels or simply follow the booking process online and it'll show all fees. In the early days of RFs, some hotels sites were deceptive, but today it's all out front. All you have to do is look.

    Good Luck!

I think when you book third party, the resort fees are opaque. Whereas, if you book through the company's website, you see everything. Frankly, I don't know why people use 3rd party sites anymore....then again there's a lot people who are stuck on old habits.

When you don't travel enough to have brand loyalty mean anything and don't gamble enough to get rooms for free, Hotwire and Priceline often offer the best prices to be had. For me, it's a gamble worth taking.

I've only ever used them for the Cosmo, because it was about ~$500 cheaper to book indirectly, and I wasn't playing house games at all during my stays there to have any chance of backend comps.

Yeah, I get that. But the problem is, you have last priority if the hotel overbooks. I've booked through hotel tonight the day of without hitch. But, when booking far in advance, the prepaid rate that hotels offer is the safest bet.

Totally agree. One other problem that is an inherent danger when booking with third party sites is that you are very likely to get the least desirable rooms in the category of room that you book. Its also very, very difficult to upgrade to a better room - you have to do everything through the third party. I went through this once, in San Diego, and I chalked it up to "lesson learned". IMHO, the advantages of booking directly with the hotel vastly outnumber any small, or even middling, savings that can be had on the third party sites. Just my two cents.....

I stayed at the GN in March, booking a package through Virgin. On checkout I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I was not being billed resort fees. The best win of the week.

I don't think they jacked up room rates as much. I checked for the last week of August Sun-Thu and the room rate average for 5 nights was $49. It's not much compared to what prices you get at Four Queens and GN rooms are far better.

Just checked the same nights on Expedia for Four Queens (the other No Resort Fee hotel) and it was $41.
