Think it's best if I just hold out for Vegas from now on.

I'd fly to AC in the summer if there was a cheap direct flight. July 4th has fireworks and the like. They also have booze cruises in AC too. If you treat it like a vacation with some gambling, it's not too bad

Like the OP, AC is only a 3 hour drive for me, so I go there 2 to 3 times a year and I always enjoy it. I'm there for 6 days starting this 19th of April. I wish they had more shows and activities though.

Yeah, this is why I only go for like 2 days at a time. In terms of activities, here are some I can think of that are non-gaming related:
    - Acquarium
    - Booze Cruise (there are a couple)
    - Boardwalk Hall Pipe Organ Tour -- world's largest organ
    - Steel Peer Amusement Park
    - Tanger Outlets
    - Little Water Distillery
    - All the food lol (some famous places outside of the casinos)

Yeah, 2 to 3 days is perfect, I just happen to have like 4 days off that I need to use, so I ended up doing 6 days since I have nothing else to do.

Not to completely hijack the OP's threat, but the aquarium is actually pretty fun. They have a 'feed the stringrays' thing that is really cool, where the stingrays come and eat small pieces of fish out of your hand. And the food is pretty great too. Not sure i they have the booze cruise this early in the yea, I hope they do.

I am not much of a shopping / amusement park person, but they have a small Ripley's museum that is kind of fun. And I intend to fully explore Ocean and Hard Rock.

I always do better in Vegas also. My locals, in Missouri and Oklahoma, are just not the same. It's like going for ice cream and getting Brussel sprouts.

And I'm convinced the gambling (VP guy) is way better downtown than the strip. I've had some luck off-strip (Sam's Town), and have not really tried other off-strip options, but I'd do that before trying to win on the Strip.

The "quality" of the gambling is what the pay schedule says it is, not the physical address of the joint. There just happens to be more "playable" VP downtown and far more at the locals.

I usually go to a AC for a night or two. Back in the day, when the kids were younger, I'd sometimes go three nights. We'd go down to Wildwood/Moreys pier for a day etc... For all my years of going to AC ( turned 21 in Showboat in 1991, all my gambling is my moms fault, lol. Thanks ma) I have never been to the Aquarium. One day I'll get over there.

I know you mentioned shows, when I first was going there, there was a bit more entertainment. I remember seeing An Evening at the LaCage, David Copperfield, some other impersonator troupe, and other random things. A few years back we went to the Walenda show at Trop and Bally's had a beach corn-hole tournament, which was actually a lot of fun. But yea, there isn't too much going on. Also, there used to be a bit of "buskers" on the boardwalk but not anymore. If I am not mistaken the first time I went, there was a carnival like thing at "Trop World" or whatever it was called. But it had a few rides inside and a small ferris wheel, I want to say near the entrance of the casino floor.

The Steel Pier is, IMO, is way over priced but I suppose it is a little something to do.

The usefulness of the CET comps, in Vegas, is what keeps me "loyal" to CET AC. So even though I am not too thrilled with the idea of gaming (at all) right now, I know I'll be back there.

Yeah, there are some decent comedy clubs now and some musical acts in AC, but nothing close to Vegas.

@Happygirl21, thanks for the TR and sorry that you took it in the shorts this trip. When it stops being fun, we just stay away for awhile.

Here is a link to Atlantic City Weekly, a local publication that lists events. It looks like the Beach Bar is opened at Resorts, jackets required, lest you freeze.
