Well, I won't be playing at the Plaza anymore in the foreseeable future.
Last night, I discovered the hard way that if you now fold your hand and there are trips or better on the board, they no longer pay you on your trips bet.
This makes their UTH table the worst in Vegas.
I tried my best to convince the dealer he was wrong, so the pit-critter came over and told me I was wrong. I told him that I had put in 100's of hours at the Plaza's UTH table and that this was a mistake.
He didn't care. I colored out, complained to the guy manning the desk in the Host Office and told him they had lost a customer, and would lose more over this.

Just doing my part to warn other UTH players about this travesty of a rule change.

Isn’t there a Plaza guy on the bb here? That is a ridiculous rule change for sure! Glad you made a stand FWIW.

Yep, I was there and TC was and still is pretty hot over this issue. Not sure it was a rule change as much as the dealer and pit just didn't understand the rules of their own game. Either way, they are responsible. Certainly, no other casinos play this way.

I agree. That's ridiculous. The trips bet is a separate optional bet, independent of the hand. Everywhere I've played, you tuck your cards under your trips bet, fold your hand and get paid. Ridiculous they did that to you.

I played my first live UTH session today at Pala casino just by sheer circumstance. I went to Pala early morning today hoping to try Mississippi Stud, but the tables were closed.:( I saw an UTH table with a dealer but no customer playing. I asked the supervisor if she could lower it down from $10 to $5 she said she couldn't do it because table minimums were set by the top echelon of the casino and she had no authority to change it. I didn't know if she was "bluffing" me or not. It made no sense to me that casino wouldn't lower the table minimum if they had no customer playing. I said to her no problem, so I stood aside and sat next to the slot machine for a few minutes, stood up and ready to go home. She called me back and offered to lower it down to $5. I sat down and played. The dealer showed me how to play like how I needed to put my two cards on top of the ante & blind chips if I wanted to fold; what I need to do if I checked (like pulling back from Let It Ride), where to put my two cards down if I decided to 4x my ante, and never allowed to leave my two cards open on the table. I played for about 15 minutes and then this gentleman came along; he sat in seat #6 (facing the dealer from left to right). I watched in "horror" as he took all of the would-be-mine cards (a couple of straights, full houses, flushes) and he was betting trips too. :( After 20 or so minutes seeing my luck kept being "robbed" by someone, I decided to leave. My session was just 35-40 minutes and I won $100 and the supervisor gave me 2 tier credit:eek: I believe I had a perfect record winning the 4x ante bet with no loss:D. I felt bad about not tipping the dealer who showed me how to play this game. I was waiting to tip her at the end of my session, but half way through they switched to a new dealer and when she left, she took her tip box with her too. I didn't know each dealer had their own tip box; I thought all tips would be split and shared by all dealers at the end of the day, but for sure I remember her and will tip her the next time I visit Pala. I also learn my lesson that if I want to be the first to receive the cards, I need to sit in seat #6, not #3:D

Btw, Jacks or Better video poker was really expensive (for me) to play. If you want to play the 9/6 version, you need to bet at least $1 per coin and if you want to bet 5 coins to get the max payout on the royal flush; that's $5 per bet:( If you want to play the 25 cents machine, they only have the 8/5 version and this version does not have the royal flush payout of 4000 coins; they only have it at 1000

Next time you are at Pala, give Free Bet Blackjack a try. Their rules for the game are the best I have played...still 3:2, deals from a shoe, and allows surrender.

For HL VP on single play Gamekings, no other local comes close to the selection of full pay games.

I wanted to update y'all on this:
I heard back from Curt at the Plaza, & they are taking steps to be sure nobody else experiences this error - and they acknowledge that this was a mistake - NOT a "rule change".
So - it's safe to play UTH at the Plaza!
(...which is a good thing, as they are one of only two casinos downtown that have the better 'Trips' paytable!)
