We did Christmas stocking and gift exchanges with the family since it was our first time together as a group in a while.

    These are Tower suites.

Ours is a little bigger than the other two in the size of the main area. Those two have additional bedrooms (“connectors”).

The prices were quite reasonable when I reserved them during one of the sales last year.

I paid for the.VIP Longe access (35 plus tax). The limo bus dropped us off North entrance. There was no bell service there. That lounge was very close to where we came into the building.

When I got there, they tried to get me to pay that amount times three for three rooms. That conflicted with what I was told by tow VIP reservation folks about only needing it on one room. I had to ask to speak to a manager; they cleared it up with. Phone call.

One of our rooms was ready at 11:30 am or so when we checked in. We stowed our luggage there and headed out to In N Out Burger and Von’s in our fifteen passenger van.

The burgers were great and it was nice enough to sit outside. We stocked up on wine, champagne, beer, sodas, water, and snacks at Von’s.

The suites look quite nice at Luxor; it has probably been 15 years since I've stayed there. The updates look great.

The lounge was maybe a 20'x20' (0r so) room with three-quarters walls blocking it off from the North reservation area. They had drinks and stuff, nothing over the top. It was a comfortable place for the family to sit around while I argued about the charges and got the first room so we could drop our gear.

Is it worth $35.00 plus tax? You avoid long lines; I never saw more than one person in line in the room. You can grab free drinks, which we know saves a little bit of money.

We got more than $35 worth of small drinks over the four days, but there were nine of us!

We had all of the rooms by 3:30 and it was time to get ready for our strip tour.

Presidential Limo (driver was Steve) had our bus there on time and Jourdan, the photographer my wife had decided to use, was also there to meet us. She accompanied us for the entire trip and took a couple of hundred pictures and videos. She told us this was the first time she had done a session like this without it being some kind of a wedding or engagement event. My wife just likes lots of pictures--fifteen feet of our counter space in the kitchen is covered in pictures of our kids. Many more are on the walls.

The trip was a huge success. We stopped at the sign, Bellagio to tour the conservatory and watched the fountains, headed to Fremont street for one of the shows, and then to the Mirage to see the volcano. There was drinking, singing, conversation, hugs, hilarity, and an overall awesome time with the four kids, their guests, and us. I couldn't have asked for it to go any better. I tipped both the driver and photographer well; they were awesome.

After the tour, we were dropped back at Luxor and commenced a long evening of gambling and drinking. My wife's coin in was about $1,800 for the first night and I played 4-5 hours with a rating of about $85 at the highest. There may have been a lower period as we changed tables a couple of times.

We made it until about 2 a.m. and then it was off to bed...

    Saturday, 1/5

This was supposed to be a day to tour Red Rocks, but no one really wanted to do it early enough for us to get it done before the Texans game. I took a group of five down to Paris and dropped them off to walk the Strip for a bit and my older son and I headed to Von's for a resupply of champagne and beer for the game.

The walking folks stopped at the Taco Bell Cantina. The younger son loves Taco Bell, so this was an important event for him.

My wife ordered pizza and wings from Joe's New York Pizza. It was delivered right on time and we gathered in our suite to watch the Texans/Colts game. Though the game did not go well from our point of view, it was a wonderful time. After it ended, there was a little time for a nap before our shows.

My older daughter and her boyfriend went to see Celine Dion. They had appetizers before hand and dinner afterwards, so they made a nice evening out of it.

The other seven of us went to the Carrot Top show. What a great show! Besides me, everyone had their doubts about the show. They had no doubt about it once they left. That guy is a bundle of energy and kept going for around 90 minutes with non-stop gags. He made fun of everything and used, of course, tons of props. I even ended up in the spotlight...when he walked by slapping hands he came to me and said "look, Merv Griffin is here tonight!"...my kids had no idea who Merv Griffin was, but it was funny to my wife and me.

After that, we had a great night of gambling. I did well on the craps table and my wife did good max betting on lots of slots. She brought 6-7 tickets by with wins of $150-$300. Then...

My phone rang. She said...in a slightly tipsy voice...I am over here behind you and I think I had a big win. I left the craps table, headed over, and watched as her bonus round finished playing and the machine locked up. I told her she had hit a hand pay and it was for $2234.50. She jumped out of the seat and told me that I needed to handle it. The attendants came, collected my info, and went off to wherever they go. They came back and handed me the W-2 and then made the hand pay for the cameras.

We finished the night with around $8.900 in coin-in for the trip. My average bet, when I remembered to ask, was $75 as I was coloring up but it suddenly jumped to $85 when I tossed a quarter in for the crew.

The $8,900 coin-in over two days was only $400 short of our total coin-in for 2018 over 9 total days in Vegas.

We also ended the night at about 122,000 tier credits for the year.

    Good day on Saturday!

So the casino have you the W2G? If you do your taxes as a married couple it doesn't really matter, but i'm a bit surprised the casino let you do it unless you switched before they noticed.

I guess they would have it on camera, but I was in the seat long before the slot attendants got there. It took them about five minutes to get there and I was only at the craps table twenty good steps away from her machine.

We file married, so it makes no difference for tax purposes.

Why did your wife "jump up" before the slot pay? Sounds like a great trip......I, too, love lots of family pix, so sounds like a great investment for the photographer.
    Thanks for the report!
