So I have been low diamond for the last 3 years. I thought I knew about all the benefits until my trip to Planet Hollywood last month. I will play a bit of video poker at the bar if I want a drink. I was shocked when someone came up and flashed their diamond card and asked for a beverage. What? I had never heard or read anything anywhere about this benefit. Naturally I tried this out a few times at different bars. Once I was asked for my id along with the card...which I understand totally. The second time the bartender asked me to hold up my diamond card to the camera in the sky. Third time nothing...he was just happy with a tip.

To me this is a great benefit never talked about...anyone know if this works in Atlantic City?

I’ve never heard of this before in AC but I’ve also never tied it either.

I didn’t not know about this but that is an awesome perk.

@Timothy Miller is the above quote an official diamond perk? Never heard of this before...

Hmmm, I have never heard of this either. Even though I am Diamond, they still wait for me to put money in the VP machine and start playing before I get a free drink.

At Harrahs Reno, there is a list of top shelf liquor for Diamond players. I had a 12-year old McCallen (which, I am told, is not really an expensive word for lighter fluid, but I digress...)

Each table at Harrahs Reno has a card with a menu of drinks for Diamond and above.

I also thought the drink benefit at the bar (just flashing your card without playing) was for just seven stars, not diamond.

I have gone to the back bar at Flamingo twice (near the back tables) on 2 different trips and been charged both times for a beer...last trip a few weeks ago was like $8 for a Heineken. I flashed my card, but she merely asked if I wanted points for the purchase.

Last month, I was able to get a free drink without play at the new Lobby Bar at Bally's using the Diamond card. I tried the same thing at Harrah's and was denied.

Yeah I think this rule is hit or miss from what I have read. But it's also not too hard to poke at VP enough to turn the light green, get your drink, and leave.

    Roughly. I've heard $7 in 2 minutes. It doesn't take a lot.

    MODERATOR NOTE:
Split this discussion off from the other thread so it doesn't get lost.

To get back on topic, I thought I had read that this was once a perk at Cromwell because they didn't have a Diamond lounge. Hadn't heard about it being at other properties though.

At Cromwell this past October, bar tender informed me that I was entitled to a free drink with my diamond card. I was ordering a fireball for the wife and just happened to have my diamond card in my hand, that I just took out of VP machine near cashier and was walking to craps tables when I stopped at bar. Used card next 2 days for 1 comp drink per visit

Yes, same with the bar across from check in at Linq, as there's no DL there either (not sure if they still offer this).

But never heard of it being a thing at any regular CET bar...

I think it all depends on the bartender and their mood. But it seems that every time I've expected to get a free drink, I don't. And when I don't expect it, I get it for free. Weird. My last trip - went to Cromwell bar in front of Giada's escalator, Diamond card didn't work. Bartender told me to just put a twenty in and play max bet and she'll give a few drinks if we drank it fast enough. At the linq, same thing. Then late late night, sat down at the same bar at the linq and got free drinks without playing. But yeah, it seems that if I ask the bartender if my card entitled me to a free drink, no go. But if the bartender just so happens to see the card without me asking, I get a free drink.

Harrahs LV gave me free drinks twice with just a tip. I am 7 star but was really surprised when I didn’t have to sign and they didn’t swipe it into computer. This was 2 and 3 days ago.

cromwell still does this, I think the linq 3535 bar stopped it, the VP bar in ballys by the poker room would do it by discretion only...I argued with a bartender in CP because the servers were no where to be found in the section we were in and he wanted to sell me one of the casino small bottles of water which are free all over, had tip and diamond card in hand, he eventually gave up that water, lol

other than that, New Orleans is the only place I know of with CET where you can get free, top shelf drinks with no play for diamond or 7*...simply walk to any bar and order what you want, they do have a daily drink limit but more times than not they dont swipe the card to remove a drink from your total...most times they look at and hand it back or hold it up for the eye in the sky
