Ok sports fans. I've got it in the best authority the gold strike sports book is moving to the atrium cafe with bar food. No more cafe. "Pickle and jam is losing to much money having the book there"

Damn lines at book are to long to cash winning tickets, that's on my authority

I heard this as well (on rumor, not on any authority). But I heard the casino is dissatisfied with bettors coming in the lobby/book to make bets and leaving without stepping foot in the casino. The cafe area would definitely force those bettors into the casino. Plus, the only loss is the cafe. Which is a good thing. Unless your idea of good food is ....

Have they ever considered that Pickle N Jam might be losing money cuz it mostly sucks? Except the BBQ pizza of course. :evillaugh:

I'll miss the ribs at the cafe. :( Unless they keep them.

They should move the book upstairs to the nonsmoking area. It's plenty large enough to accommodate it. Nobody uses that area anyway. The Pickle & Jam just needs to become a real restaurant or they could use it for a club of some sort.

So I'm home now, only had one deer run out in front of me! And had to pass the Amish horse drawn buggy in a no passing zone, but such is life.

No great hits after the last picture post, lost, but had fun none the less.

Housekeeping did a good job this trip, that's a pleasant change.

Now to the "last trip fiasco" that is making me seriously consider finding another casino to play/stay at in Tunica.

My last trip to Tunica or anywhere MGM gambo was in September and my neighbor had been asking to ride along, so I called my host to get him a room. He's a player, so I told her to put it in my name and we'll just transfer it over when the time comes. Thru no fault of my neighbors, he ended up not making the trip, so when I got to GS, I check in to my room and told the clerk, just cancel the other one, we don't need it.

Clerk types away at the computer and says "they want $180 to cancel" I say forget it, I'll talk to my host and get her to fix it. (I should have just checked in, this was a weekday room anyway)

So I go see the host, she says "no, I'll cancel it" and I continue on with the trip.

Sometime during the last day or so, I go to the gift shop and burn $40 in express comps on something for my understanding wife (she must be understanding, I go on a shit load of solo trips)

I play enough that night to bring my balance back to within 17 bucks of the maximum $5000 that a platinum can have (and what I started with).

Check out the next day, zero balance, all comped and I come home

Fast forward to a week ago, I was on Mlife looking at offers and see my EC balance at $4800. WTF?

So when I get to Tunica, host comes by "did you get your smoking room?" I say no, but I took care of that. She shakes her head and mutters "stupid people'

I then say, you remember last trip about canceling the room? She says yes, I say those "stupid people" took $180 in EC from me for that.

    Host says "I'll fix that"

Next day I see her outside of VIP room

Host: I got that fixed for ya

Me: the $180 from canceling the room?

Host: yes but it wasn't that.

Me: Well what else could it have been?

Host: uhhhh (she didn't want to tell me, she just wanted me to know it was fixed)

    Me: Well?

Host: They say they have changed all the alarm clocks in the rooms and you room didn't have one, so they charged you $200.

Me: Really? First off, the room had an old shitty clock radio that I unplugged cause I like it dark. Second, they just decided I stole an alarm clock and without contacting me, they take $200 from me, guilty as charged? That's bullshit, now the new room has a nice new alarm clock

    Host: That's bolted down

Me: No it isn't, it's face down in the room now cause it's to bright.

Host: Really, they told me it's bolted down.

Me: and besides that, who the fuck pays $200 for an alarm clock?

Host: they paid $100 (they got ripped off, 79.99 on amazon, I looked)

Me: Yeah, like I Need an alarm clock.

Host: Don't worry about it, you'll get your money back. I told them "that man doesn't need your alarm clock, he has enough money he can buy his own, and you need to be looking at housekeeping.

Me: Yeah, I have a garage full of shit from when the tenants move out and leave their shit in the apartments

And we leave it at that.

Now I'm gonna say I have zero problems with my host, I can understand why she didn't want to tell me, she doesn't want to lose a good customer. But I've been going to GS since they opened that hotel, lost thousands of dollars there, and they want to lose a customer over an alarm clock? And not even pick up the phone and ask any questions, or charge my CC? just take it out of comps

Really has to make me wonder.

    Rant over

Still had a good time though.

Edited to add, I'm a lot of things, but I'm not a fucking thief.

That stinks. I am glad your host worked to make it right. Not sure if that issue would be enough to make me change hotels, but if you do, I switched to HS a couple years ago because I liked my host there better. I like it fine. The GS rooms are better, but my HS host gets me in the top floor or entertainer suites when she can, so that more than makes up for it. Maybe give them a try next time

Ya know, it's not the express comps I'm worried about, I"m back to 5K, and with a host, they are pretty useless, but it's the idea of being accused of being a thief, but not even being told about it. If I wasn't paying attention, I'd have never known they had taken the comps, and certainly not known the reason why. I'd have noticed the missing comps next trip since my ec's are always pegged at 5K, but still would be wondering wtf. I question how many other people has this happened to? (Shades of @tdhoier being accused of smoking in a non smoking room at MB a few weeks ago and not knowing about it till looking at his CC charges)

I feel bad for my host, I really like her, She gets stuff done, and you can't beat front row seats to concerts (well you can, front row your to close for good sound), but if that is all management thinks of me, hmm. And while I'm not the largest player, I'm a larger player, at least that's what I'm told.

You should load up your trunk with a bunch of crap you've gotten from your apartments and take it to GS as a peace offering. The housekeeping department would no doubt quickly change their tune about the alarm clock!

So how was the show? I saw them live 15 years or so ago at HoB in Myrtle Beach. They did a great set of greatest hits and even covered a couple AC/DC songs. I still have a guitar pick somewhere from that show.
