Yup, but the pisser is "what is 4 hours"? 4 hours playing alone on a Tuesday morning is what, 1000+ hands? That is a total of $50,000 being wagered. Playing with 6 other players on a busy Saturday night is like 200 hands in 4 hours. Or just $10K at risk.

Let's freak out @Chuck2009x with that one!

Does anyone know how table games "rate" players.
I was told awhile ago that they used averages on tables (with the exception of high limit rooms).
so if the average Blackjack table has 3 players you are rated on the expected speed of 3 players (even if you are the only one on the table or if there is 6 on the table).

There is lots of "how to get the best comps" books and articles that advise to play on full tables only for this reason.

I think they just use simple math for players at the table. 5 players 70 hands. 6 players 60 hands ETC. Then each player gets their average bet applied. I dont think they use just one blanket measure any more.

Back in the day, when casinos were rating the average table player, a friendly chat with the dealer and a few tips here or there were all you needed when the pit boss dropped by. Player 3, 2 hours at 50 per and swipe. When player 3 was just over an hour and averaging 30

Following up on my original questions when I started this thread, I always play plenty of VP and slots at Cosmo, but up to now I've never dropped a single dollar at any of their table games. If I decided to play one or two of table sessions at Cosmo (craps or BJ, probably with $15 - $25 in play at a time) during a visit, at perhaps an hour or two each session, is there a chance that the relatively short and low dollar table action would dilute my slot and VP play and negatively affect the comps that I've been accustomed to? Of course, playing tables without presenting my Identity card is always an option, as I realize that Cosmo doesn't award Identity points for table game play.

How did you get a breakout of slot vs. VP play? I don't see that on the new website.

After reading some of these posts it has occurred to me that I've been playing without getting full credit. I play a lot of VP at Cosmo, but unfortunately there are times where I get up several times
during a session and take breaks to go to the mens room, pull out funds from the ATM, etc. And, since each time I remove and reinsert my card this winds up costing me points?

No. If you play your normal amount on machines, any table play should just be additive to your theo, it won't dilute it.

If you earmark a certain amount of your bankroll for tables, and have a bad losing session(s) which then cuts into your coin-in, then you might get hurt a little. But it wouldn't be because of the low bet amount or short time spent on tables.

If you are at Sterling level or above, for a given date, VP and slot play will be broken out on separate rows, because you get a 2x multiplier on slots. If you're below Sterling, I don't think it will get broken out because you're only getting 1x on everything.

There isn't any reason that should cost you points. The only thing it might affect is if you were playing bartop VP for drink tickets - there appears to be a time element to how frequently the machine spits out drink tickets. The clock on that probably gets reset if you close out a session.

Thanks ....I thought those breaks were costing me potential points. Next time I'll be more at ease.

Thanks for that info. It always seems tough to get a good answer on that. I’m a $100-$150 craps player at Aria. I get plenty of rooms there with no resort fees and would love to give Cosmo a shot but just can’t justify paying for room. That’s what makes changing so hard. It might be worth my while to just sit down with a Cosmo host for a few minutes when I’m in town next.

The deficiency there is that at MLife and CET, you get Tier Credits for table play, so you have some mathematical way of judging how your play was tallied more or less in real time. At Cosmo, you have to wait for an offer (or ask for back-end if it's a current trip). I'm not saying Cosmo doesn't rate fairly or that their offers aren't as good; to players who track stuff, it just makes a difference to be able to see it.

I've been a bit disappointed with how stingy the comps at Cosmo have been in my experience (with the exception of the one comped night for Sterling).

I've played there three 3 days this year, and earned 8k tier points over those three days playing VP, $15-$25/hand. 4k were over two days in March, another 4k one day in August. After the March play I got nothing; after the August play, I did get an "offer" by email, but it was just for $25 free play. The only hotel offers I have are the same 15% discounts or whatever that anyone can get.

I understand that the Cosmo can sell their rooms at very high prices during peak times and weekends. But I was hoping I'd at least get some sort of future room discount after putting over $20k coin-in in a single day.

Cosmo uses true theo calculation (that literally means stingy!!). If you play 99% or better VP, your theo is not much with $20K coin-in.
not enough to earn a comp room.
That's one of the two reasons I don't play there.

Assuming VP has a Theoretical loss of 1.5% (if you are playing $25 a hand I assume you are playing very good pay tables only) your 24k coin in would be a theoretical loss of $360. If they give you 35% back as comps you would get $126.
Keeping in mind that your 1st trip in march you did 2 days so they have reason to think you are half of that. so you would get $63 in comps per day
I do not know what the casino rate is for the rooms but I would assume $63 would not be enough (and $126 would only get you a room on a Wednesday in December, January or February)
If you did 20k coin in on slots... you would be getting amazing offers offers.

Yeah, I understand that good VP tables I'm playing won't yield as many comps as slots, and also that Cosmo will nautrally be less likely to hand out free rooms than a cheaper property.

But I figured I'd at least get offered some sort of discount or special rate on a room at that level of play.

Hi @flyguyfl are you tables only? Cosmo is pretty good about teaser offers on slots. My FIL is a big cheapo (adore him though) who often forgets to use his card....but even he got a two night teaser after VP play. (Slots will have even more weight, but I can't speak to tables...never played...)

I'm with you on not being able to pay for a room when you have comps elsewhere....but I think if you seeded at Cosmo on a trip...you could get a starter offer and buid from there.

I'm a huge Aria fan too, but Cosmo has trumped Aria for us. If you can get the offers rolling...I think you could be very happy there...

Yup, less likely to get a free room then a cheaper property. Same is true everywhere. Since the free room's value is pulled from your ADT, a room valued at more takes more money.

My offers at Treasure Island are a Petite Suite for 3 nights and $500 in free play. Across the street at Venetian, for the same play, I have a standard room and $100 in free play. But their standard rooms are valued at $100 more per night. So that is $300 more in comp value taken from me to pay. And that is why I have hundreds less in free play.

Getting a comped night at Exclaibur will take less play then getting a comped night at Wynn.

Cosmo is just like most any casino. They will always rewards the suckers, I mean Slot Players (myself included) before turning to the table players and VP players since those hogs are harder to butcher.
