I am a pretty loyal Boyd player and I am looking get in at another casino off strip and start working on some points. I heading out in August and I am staying at Freemont for 3 nights and need one other night to spend somewhere off strip that is a station casino. I was thinking a station casino because theres a bunch I want to visit, don't want to head all the way to RR or GVR. Looking for a large slot floor with tons of games, Sante Fe Station was at the top of my list. Some that blends both nice amenities and a large gaming floor!

    Thanks in advance!

I like Sunset Station. Large gaming floor, plenty of restaurants, and an easy & quick bus ride from downtown on the HDX.

After GVR and RR I think that Sunset is the next best in line although we haven't stayed at any of the others for a long time. Palms is now a Stations casino so you might like to try there. I'm not a fan of the remodel but I'm sure many others do.

I'm leaning towards Sunset, I did look at the Palms but the rooms are a little more than I like to pay off strip!

If GVR is too far for you though, Sunset is even further? And Santa Fe is about the same distance at GVR. Depending on rates you can get, I'd stay at GVR unless there is significant savings to stay elsewhere

GVR is way more than I want to spend on a room. I am renting a car and am looking fro something resonable for one night that is off strip and away from downtown because I will be there for 3 nights

If the rate difference is that large, I understand....I just wanted to make sure you knew Sunset was not near the strip as you said you didn't want to go all the way out to GVR. BTW....I agree that Sunset is much better than Santa Fe. Palace Station may be nicer than either of them once the remodel is complete, but I don't think this will happen by the time of your trip.

I guess I meant to rephrase and say I don't want to pay the room prices of either of those. I am renting a car and I am planing on visiting both during my visit. So Sunset looks very nice and that's probably where I will be for my first night, then I will head downtown and make day visits from downtown with my rental!

The Palms is like $79 a night....supposed to be pretty nice after the remodel. Staying there in September.

Boulder Station is fairly close to Fremont St., offers a large selection of slots and this location is relatively close to several other casinos that you can explore. Relatively is a relative term as hopping the bus or a cab would probably be best ;-) Arizona Charlie's, Sams Town, The Longhorn and Eastside Cannery are south on Boulder Highway.

And of course, MainStreet Station is also close.

If you go to Sunset Station, drive or walk across the street to Wal-mart and buy a $5 rubber bathtub mat. Or bring one from home. The Sunset bathtub is extremely slippery and has no mat or grab bar. Otherwise, we like Sunset, and frequently stay there. Our #1 choice is always Sam's Town, however.

tennvol11 if your a boyd's player why not the Suncoast it is a very nice property with large gamming floor and many restaurants, bowling, movies close to the rampart casino and golf. For station the closest to downtown is the Fiesta Rancho & Texas Station on north Rancho Drive they are both station casinos they both have several restaurants and large gaming floors, bingo, Texas has bowling and movies, @ Fiesta has an ice arena, we have enjoyed both but have never stayed so I can't speak to that.

I would go with Palms if they are fully integrated as Stations now. I might even try it myself, even for just one night. I need to visit the Strip, it has been way too long. Palms would be close enough.

Palms was integrated with the Stations system when I was there in April. I get monthly mailers from them and used match plays etc.

For you players out there. Remember the REAL Stations is NOT "We love locals". It is "We love locals who lose".

If you win you will be no-mailed in a heartbeat.

you could say that about any company with multiple lv properties, right?; win, lose, we still get offers ALL the time, albeit mostly from one property.
one thing you can't dispute, if you are a serious video poker player, stations does offer better vp variety at most, if not all its locations.
