I think we were there May 19. Definitely not as hot as when you went! I hiked to the stone bridge near Artist Drive a few years ago when it was over 120, but it wasn't easy. You made the right choice

 

For me, the sand dunes was the coolest part. Darwin Falls was exciting also, just because so few people drive out there and do it. The drive down the mountain to Panamint Springs is pretty incredible

 

Wow! Death Valley is on my bucket list, even more-so now that I've seen your TR.

It really is fantastic. The remaining things on my DV bucket list would be going up Dante Peak (the road is under repair and was closed when we visited), going to devils golf course at night to listen for the salt formations cracking and popping, and seeing the racetrack. But anyone going for a day trip, just visit badwater and the mesquite sand dunes and you won't be disappointed

 

Looked like a great trip my man! I understand about the “Vegassed” out. I havent been back myself since SB. Kinda itching to get back now but will see. Too much going on at the homefront currently.

Love the Wynn tower suites pools, very relaxing. Next time get cabana 211 or 214. Those are my favorites if you plan on spending a whole day at the pool.

 

They (Wynn) ain’t the boss of you. Glad you reminded them of that fact.

 

Thanks for your report. It’s been a long time since we ventured out to Death Valley. We have never seen the falls, so it has gone on the list for a day trip next time we are in Vegas. (Hopefully Fall this year, fingers crossed.)

 

How much time would that take.? I going to Vegas soon with my nephew, is it too hot in June? This is something my wife wouldn't get excited about but I think me and my nephew would appreciate it.

 

I would estimate about six hours. Two hours each way to and from the park, an hour or a bit more driving between these two sections of the park, and about an hour to get out and look or walk around at the two sections

Awesomeness UK! My last Vegas trip I did everything BUT gamble. I drove dune buggies up huge sand dunes, rode in jeeps mountain climbing and had one of the best times in Las Vegas ever. It felt good to go home without the bankroll loss and more to talk about with friends and family. We have been talking about doing a National Park motorhome tour this summer and think some of the places you visited would be perfect! Thanks so much for sharing! Also if you love that kind of experience you absolutely must go to South Dakota. We ride motorcycles all through that area and it’s absolutely beautiful. So many historic and incredible monuments and natural Rock formations. Plus the Badlands. Crazy Horse, Devils Tower etc....

@UKFanatic is bang on, it is worth the trip out. I would also suggest the Artist Drive. You don't have to get out of your car, but get to see some neat views. As for the temperature, you will see in my previous post, the temperature in the afternoon ranged between 120-126F the day I was there. (June 3)

Thanks. I have thought about Badlands and Wind Cave for some future trip, but honestly, they are lower on my list of national parks/sites I want to see. I sort of feel like the big sky views around Yellowstone and the Teetons have already given me a similar experience.

But I love your idea of a park motorhome tour! Off the top of my head, my dream park motorhome tour would start at Yellowstone, drive down to Utah and hit the big ones (Canyonlands, Arches, Bryce and Zion), visit the grand canyon north rim, cut across to DV (which might take you through Great Basin as well depending on the route), then turn north for Yosemitie, and end the trip at Crater Lake. No idea if that is the best route or how long it would take, but I think it would be a blast

 

Great ideas UK! We have talked about it forever, but kids are growing up fast and we may miss the opportunity if we don’t seize it.

 

UK....I love your TR and the great photos! And.....the way you called bullshit on the Wynn credit folks. Sometimes these people need to be reminded that we have choices of where we want to piss our money away...LOL

 

Thanks. All the positive responses reminds me why its fun from time to time to write these. Glad folks seem to enjoy something different than the usual food and chip porn (although those are fun too).

The plan right now is that my partner and I are going back in August. She is scheduled to do the shark dive experience at Mandalay. We did the shark feeding experience at the aquarium a few years ago and it was a lot of fun, but I prefer not to be part of the buffet, lol. Still, if I snap some good pics, I may do a write up of that trip
