G really wants to stay at NYNY the next time. She doesn't remember staying there when she was 11 weeks old. LOL.

Vegas at dusk is so pretty.

We have 6 parakeets at home. The girls insisted on pictures in the bird chair outside of Aria.

Yes, it was an epic trip. We rented our house to an English family, but always wanted to get 'home' .... although 'work' wasn't fun to look forward to ....

I want to thank everyone for the sweet comments and compliments about my girls!

I also want to be clear that they're no angels. They're strong willed little girls who aren't smiling or happy all of the time. They get mad, cry, have tantrums, etc.

They fight with each other as much as they have fun together.

They butt heads with us A LOT! Did I mention they are strong willed? LOL.

On the bright side, they're polite and have very good manners. While they may fall apart at home or let their ugly side show with us, we've never had issues with them at school.

They're great girls, but they're kids, and let's face it...kids can be royal pains in the butt...my girls included!

Now, let the trolls chime in...does the following photo make us bad parents?!?! Girls did their final round of shopping last night at their favorite store "Lick" which is a fun candy and trinket store. V found candy and gum cigarettes there and bought some in an effort to help us channel our childhood. Although, he was disappointed to see they're now called "Candy Sticks". Mind you, neither one of us have ever been smokers, and we've had lots of anti-smoking/vaping discussions with our girls.

Well, H was fascinated by the "smoke" that puffed out of the gum ones. She had a blast back in the room puffing then chewing hers. LOL!

The dirty side to a Vegasworm trip report.

Still have a few more things to post to wrap up this report.

No worries, @Vegasworm - interesting how you are quite honest about your girls and their 'behavior'. It's a testament to both of you (parents) that they 'behave' most of the time. As you say, they're "kids" and have their momets. In my former life, I was an elementary school principal so know this age quite well ... ;).

I wouldn't worry about them at all at this stage. Obviously, they've been brought up well and have good heads on their shoulders. Even as they get into their teen years, allow them to express themselves, within the limits you set (which, I'm sure, will be quite reasonable).

    Cheers, GG.

Your permission will be appreciated by the intern trolls, but the professionals will dive right in regardless.

Let's hope there are no photographs extant of you dressing the girls as witches at Halloween. You think it's all innocent fun until Arthur Miller shows up and starts writing a play.

    we NEED the elevator story!

And there are a lot of ham radio operators here. Like Richard Alpert...he is definitely a ham, and I bet he can operate a radio :)

I had read and seen posts that those were amazing. I'm not a chicken pot pie fan, so I encouraged V and S who both are to get them. Nope, neither one did! Guess it's their loss.

17 days in to our 18 day trip, my stomach feels like it's going to explode! I need to get back to normal eating and drinking levels. LOL!

    CRAZY ELEVATOR STORY!!!

So you're probably expecting a weird story of witnessing something in an elevator that eyes aren't meant to see. It's nothing like that, but this story had us all clutching our belongings as we would cross the threshold and get in.

When we first arrived at MB, V realized he had left something in the van, so he went back down to valet to have them bring Olive around so he could get the missing item. Upon coming back up to the room, he met a flustered guy also staying on the 27th floor.

Poor guy! He had held the elevator earlier to allow an older woman to get in. Being nice and all, not like the smarmy dudes who I bump into on the casino floor. Well, the lady bumped his arm as he held the door for her (he should have pressed those buttons). Bet you can guess what's coming next!!!

Yep, knocked his phone out of his hand and it fell though the crack where the door slides. A nice 27 floor drop (well minus the superstitious floors and all) to the bottom of the elevator well! BAM!

Craziest thing of all for the guy, the phone survived without a scratch or crack!!! Be honest, how many of you have cracked your screen just from a little drop on the ground? LOL.

It's Vegas though people, which means for every win there are usually numerous losses! For this poor guy, it was to the tune of $500! That is how much it cost for MB to call in an Otis Elevator Operator to extract it for him. Guy said the operators had gone home for the day, so this was an off duty call. Don't know if it would be free otherwise???

This guy told V he would never help anyone that needed assistance again. LOL. Talk about bad karma! Kept us gripping those iPads and smartphones the entire trip though!

Yes! How dare you. Don't you know that all the good parents are buying their kids candy heroin now? :haha:

Crazy elevator story. Talk about a million to one odds.

:love: Just have to chime in - first I love your trip reports from a to z.
The candy cigarette story is so reminiscent of mine - lived in a family of smokers yet I've never even tried a cigaraette but those candy cigarettes were my favorite and my siblings and friends were really into it - we always had a box of them and played pretend and grownups, lol! Amazingly those candy cigs didn't influence my choices about smoking.
I love how you keep it fun and real for your kids! AS a parent and grandparent, our kids were 'perfect' - haha - in public. But at home - they were just like every kid - wild and wooly and sometimes contentious. I love watching my adult daughters now going through the same experiences with their son(s) - they are better at parenting than I :D.

Nice report and photos, thank you. Do you remember what were the 8 ice cream flavours at the Rx Boiler Room? Getting that tip someone might get them free :D, but probably the flavours are changed often.

Dinner at Hussong's Cantina on our last night really hit the spot. We're big Mexican food fans (any kind...traditional, Tex-Mex, Californian, New Mexican, etc).

We had passed by Hussong's several times in The Mandalay Bay Shoppes, so I decided to make an Open Table reservation. We we're seated at a large table that jutted out into the shopping area. Lots of fun for people watching! We didn't mind not being nestled in the thick of the action, since we had the kids.

This was right behind my chair.

    Fun bar area.

    IMG_20180510_201602194.jpg
See how the shops are right outside our table?

I had two of their Original Margaritas which were delicious! You can also order one in a 45oz souvenir cup.

Same picture from the other night, but so yummy, thought I would show it again.

    IMG_20180510_201637310_LL.jpg
Enjoyed the two types of salsa served. I always love places that have a chipotle flavored salsa.

    IMG_20180510_204852616_LL.jpg
I really liked my Barbacoa Tacos served with rice and beans. Pickled onions and cotija cheese are the perfect topper. I swear passing by all those times, I thought people were eating crunchy tacos! LOL. Don't those look like hard shells?

The girls ordered quesadillas and barbacoa tacos from the kid's menu. All were served with fries and the tacos were just meat and shell (came with 2 tacos). I always think it's odd when places serve kids fries with things other than burgers or the like. I was a little surprised the kid's meals were as expensive as those from Border Grill. My meal was only $4 more than theirs and looked a whole lot better!

    download_20180512_100145.jpg
V ordered shrimp tacos and received fish tacos. He didn't realize it until he started eating them. The fish is battered (he wouldn't have done grilled) and I guess was good, because he didn't send them back. After the weird lemonade drink, he had a jalapeno margarita.

Our server was okay, not mean or anything, just seemed slow and not quite on target. The kids' meals were delivered, consumed, and cleared away before we ever received our food. Good thing we brought the iPads. She just said, "Your food is coming."

We both would have ordered a 3rd drink, but we're never given the option. She delivered the check without checking to see if there was anything else we wanted...dessert, more drinks, etc. She also said she could bring us plastic cups so we could take our second margaritas to go. No thanks! We actually lingered and sipped longer because of that. LOL.

She never came by and took the check and credit card, so a manager looking guy did. When he brought back my copy to sign, he had removed the itemized copy. I chased him down for it and he actually seemed a little scared of me for asking for it. LOL. I just needed it for my trip report and to turn in at the MLife desk for point credit. Sheesh people, I'm not an auditor!

    IMG_20180510_210722546.jpg
Final tally...left $20 for tip and not our usual 20%-20+%.

Despite service not being the best it wasn't the worst, and we all enjoyed our meals. Those original margaritas are awesome! We will definitely go back some day if the chance arises.

On a funny note, I was sat very close to the couple at the table next to us. Normally, I'm not all over my phone in restaurants. I try to focus on conversation not technology. The girls have used their iPads a lot on this trip in restaurants, that frequency going out at home doesn't happen. For a live Vegas trip report though, I am glued to my phone taking pictures and posting updates. If you don't stay on top of it, it just gets away from you, which is why I think a lot of times live reports fizzle out for some. Well, you could just see the tsk tsk look in their eyes as that couple watched us all plugged in during our meal. LOL!

Oh my gosh @Sonya, that's hilarious!! I wish I had thought of that one.

Ditto! I loved pretending to be a cool adult with my candy cigs, but never felt inclined to try the real thing. Couldn't stand the smell!

I do! Let me try to find the sheet I wrote everything on. They do mix flavors up periodically and also rearrange the order of things.

On our way to San Diego for the cruise, we did an overnight at South Point. I did a little blurb on another thread showing the bargain late night breakfast I got.

    IMG_20180428_055857842.jpg
    Not bad for $4.95!

We went to the famous Freed's Bakery and got a box of cookies and cupcakes. V and I had been a few times before when they were in their old location. The new location is nice, but farther away. I didn't see the almond horns I used to love from there. V got my 30th birthday cake from there a long time ago. Their cakes are amazing. Sorry, I forgot to take pictures of all the goodies.

On a non-Vegas note, we toured the USS Midway in San Diego the day we got off the cruise. We spent hours there and it was a fabulous self-guided tour. The girls earned their Junior Wings after completing a pretty intensive scavenger hunt. I love history, museums, etc. and this ranked up there with one of the best things we've visited.

Of course I bought the souvenir photo!
