Agreed, sounds like this was a test market rollout that followe the Spartan rooms at the Linq.
These dispensers have been used in mass market cruise ships for years.

Don’t be surprised to see them end up at all the CET properties with maybe CP as an exception.

MGM will probably follow suit after that everywhere but Bellagio and Aria.

I really doubt the higher end properties will do this. It seems kind of cheesy.

Anyone want to bet on how long it will be before there is news where someone puts in some kind of foreign substance in these dispensers? I assume they have some kind of locking mechanism on them but there’s bound to be someone who will do something terrible. Hope I’m wrong.......

Hey... look on the bright side... those of you who refuse to tip housekeeping now have another solid reason not to... no extra soaps and toiletries to be had!

Interesting, I can see it happening at the lower end properties. I feel like I remember seeing this way back when at the Inferior Palace. Little things like the branded toiletries and matches that I might use away from the resort conjure up memories of good times and remind me of how much I want to go back.

This may be a cost cutting move, but it's also part of the CET green program. All those partially used bars of soap, soap boxes, and little plastic bottles in a 2,000+ room hotel is a lot of garbage in day. I, for one, prefer the shower dispensers, the quality of the body wash, shampoo, and conditioner seems to be better quality.

This may be the first thing in history that CET has done that i approve of. There is WAY too much waste in Vegas, and plastic is horrible for the environment. Getting rid of those little plastic bottles is definitely a step in the right direction. Hopefully casinos will stop having CWs give out those tiny plastic bottles of water too and going to filtered tap water in glasses like the Cosmo used to do.

I don't really care what it comes out of (bottle or dispenser), as long as they have it, because I don't pack it if I don't have to. I'm not a klepto stealing all the little bottles of everything either (my mother-in-law has a degree in that btw). I can't believe they'd completely do away with it, even the $24 Motel6 in the sticks puts little bottles of whatever in the bathroom for you. If anything they could just get cheaper or off-brand supply, as long as there's something.

The WSJ had an article about this yesterday, but didn't list CET hotels. Only a matter of time.

    https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-beginning-of-the-end-for-those-tiny-shampoo-bottles-1525180702

Google article title "The Beginning of the End for Those Tiny Shampoo Bottles" if you haven't used your free article today to escape the WSJ paywall.

    Most of them are locked.

No big deal. I always buy Travel packs before i go to Vegas at CVS, Walgreens, or BB&B. They are specifically used when traveling. Small shampoos, toothpaste, mouthwash, condoms, etc. They hardly take up space in the suitcase.
If you don't bring those items just stop by CVS or Walgreens in Vegas. Every store has an aisle for cheap travel packs, most under a buck.

They are locked, you need a key to access the bags of shampoo.

From an environmental standpoint, I think this is a great idea. The amount of plastic used for consumer packaging continues to increase each year and not much is recycled.

I bring these home and donate them to a home for retired Catholic nuns even though Sister Charles Bronson pulled my sideburns back in the day when I got out of line. These little bottles are most welcome by these old gals.

How is it theft when you paid for it in the room rate? Theft is grabbing an ashtray, a washcloth to clean your windshield or a towel (remember those thin Holiday Inn Towels with the green stripe?). So grabbing the notepad and pen, both bearing the hotel logo, is theft?

Not to worry, Wyndham and Choice Hotels have no plans to change.

Yes, but someone could always use a syringe and inject something through the nozzle. I think this was in Mission Impossible 7 or 8.

I used to take all the little bottles. I don’t anymore unless they are Bulgari or Agraria.

My Mom still takes them. She even asks the maid for more. She likes to put them in her guest bathroom in little baskets when she has overnight guests.

I’d prefer having no little quart sized baggie to futz around with going through airport security and slowing me down. But my Mom talks me in to carrying her overflow contraband.

She’s obsessed with the little bottles..... I don’t get the obsession, but whatever makes her happy!

I admit to taking the hotel branded pens though. I DO actually use these at home. They give me a little happiness when I’m working.

While the containers may be locked o prevent access, I am sure there are ways to get those keys if someone wants to mess with the provided product.

I don't care for the containers in the showers. It looks cheap and cheesy. If it protects the environment, that is a plus. I'll just bring my own stuff. It won't change a whole lot in my life overall.

Switching to wall mounted dispensers is not the same as "doing away with free toiletries". And the article didn't seem to mention Vegas, but some hotel chains in general.

I am still waiting for a source from the OP. Otherwise this whole thread is much ado about nothing.

About 20 years ago, our layover hotel in West Palm Beach didn't put soap in the rooms. Instead, they had a vending machine in the lobby that sold soap, and other toiletries. o_O

    Seriously.

As for the toiletry dispensers, that is going to turn around and bite them in the booty. Similar to how people who go to Costco and think they're getting a deal when they buy a super big bottle of shampoo and don't realize that they are actually using more of the product and in a sense, wasting more of it. I can see travelers at hotels dispensing the hell out of that shampoo. If they do, I encourage everyone to use as much shampoo and conditioner as possible to show them how stupid of an idea this is.
