Continuing my adventure to the dark side, I stopped at Lancaster Brewing and had the Double Chocolate Milk Stout and Jump Seat Black Lager. The Stout wasn’t too sweet and had a nice balance of chocolate, espresso and hops. The Black Lager was good, but wouldn’t go out of my way to get this again. The brewery serves Imperial Pints, 20 oz pours.

We stopped at Cambria Winery after Costco. We came out with four bottles of 2014 Clone 4 Pinot.

I just had a glass of 2012 Foley JA Ranch Pinot, last of a bottle we opened this weekend. I'm making Italian for dinner so it sounds like I need to go pull a bottle of Sangiovese.

While up in Boston last week I made an obligatory stop at Harpoon Brewery for a taste. Had their awesome IPA, an experimental dark lager, and Chocolate Sombrero made by Clown Shoes (acquired by Harpoon last year). This is a really different brew not sweet, but a couple of seconds after a sip you feel the spice in the back of your throat.

Since it was close to St. Patty’s day, I made a visit the Black Rose pub for a Guinness, a bit of Yellow Spot whiskey, and some live music.

Had a $25 Total Wine gift certificate and was going to put it towards a nice bottle of Rye Whiskey as in Michter’s, but decided to go the modest route since I always have my Rye with Sweet Vermouth (see avatar). Old Overholt is a tremendous value as a mixer and makes a fine Manhattan, $15 for a bottle. Used the balance to pick up a nice magnum bottle of an Italian Pinot Grigio for the bride, but had to cough up another $2, no sales tax in Delaware.

However, for the Easter weekend, the forecast is Dark and Stormy, must avoid scurvy.

Yeah I bought a 6 pack this fall. It's a good value beer. I prefer things more hoppy, juicy, dank, etc. though.
I bought a 4 pack of Chocolate Sombrero around Christmas, I was a little disappointed, I think Stone Xocoveza is much better.

tring - have you tried Urban Chestnut Black Lager yet? I'm a bit more home bound than I want to be with kids, but I'm looking for some feedback on that.

Personally, I don't get the Urban Underdog love, but Black Lager seems more up my alley

I am such an IPA/Imperial Stout fanboy that it's not funny. I can probably count the number of "craft lagers" I've tried on one hand. So unfortunately, I haven't tried it. The last UC beer that I've had is Count Orlok Pumpkin Ale. But a black lager might be more up my alley than normal. I do have a soft spot for Black IPAs.

I'm all in on their Dorfbier

I have been meaning to go to the URB to try some of the new stuff plus eat what is supposedly pretty good pizza. I heard they were testing radlers and chocolate stouts recently.

Finch Beer Co. Tacocat. (5%; 3.75 sips)

I love the name/label. What I would guess a "kettle sour ale" would be. Less tart than most sours. Feels like has a bit more body.

Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA from the tap,18% ABV. Have wanted to try this one for awhile, now it’s off my bucket list.

Having now seen that, you have made me put it on my list of drinks to sample whilst in the good old U.S.A. You can't be the only lucky one to have a go at that one hammie.
