    My Trip Report

Sorry I have not been on the forum much, was a little down about switching up my trip to Atlantic City instead of Las Vegas, did not want to be that far away from my 7 month pregnant wife if god forbid if something happened. However I do have another trip report put together.
Again, like my first trip report it's sort of a long read, more slot pics than actual trip photos as I ended up ahead after the trip was finally over, thank goodness.
So hopefully you'll enjoy the read as I plan my next trip as the next time will definitely have to be solo.

Good to see you won and made DIAD. Next trip there I may have to try the Irish Pub. Also if you opt in for CET Feb double Tier points you can get in all the Diamond lounges this year and next year.

Nice report and congrats on Diamond amd those sweet hits! Bally's used to be my home base in AC, but it seemed like they stopped caring about the place. Stayed there for the first time in years a few weeks ago, and enjoyed myself. I agree with Caesars' buffet. The first couple of times we went we did enjoy it better than Waterfront, but that soured quickly. Cafe Roma's breakfast buffet is disappointing, but Buca di Beppo's is worse. Yeah, breakfast shouldn't be hard. Too bad Waterfront doesn't serve it daily.

The Pier shops is seriously disappointing. Before I could gamble, I would love going in there on family outings, picking up new music and walking around. I knew it was over when they took out the water show a few years ago. Even then there were a few more stores (not many, tho) and traffic was steadier than now. Someone has to take a chance and open up in there, and not another Boardwalk-type junk shop. I think making it an extension to the outlet shops or such, or really putting the effort into making it a entertainment spot. AC won't reclaim it's glory, but it's a cool place that could be even cooler.

    Thanks again for the report!

Thanks, does not happen often of going home a winner.

Thanks, it was quite odd being there with it being so slow, It was us and perhaps 2 other couples in there.

Oh Yeah, already opted in, after the trip I finished at 26k all said and done, be nice to be sitting at over 50k once the month is done.

This was literally the first time staying on the boardwalk after Showboat closed down, generally we stayed at Harrah's, but I am glad we stayed at Bally's. Just wished there was better breakfast options or even dine in service. We almost did Buca's for dinner but opted for Harrah's buffet instead.

I agree, after the water show got pulled, it was pretty much curtains for that place. The Pier shops could definitely be something better, or maybe convert to like a South Street Seaport in Manhattan type theme. My 2 cents.

We usually stay at Claridge (since the sale and remodel - never before) so end up spending a good deal of time at Bally's and Caesars. And stayed at Bally's since the updates and love those Jubilee rooms. I agree with you about preferring Bally's over Harrah's. And still haven't been to the Irish Pub.

I always love a good AC trip report and especially your advice to check things out to draw one’s own conclusions. We are low gold and prefer to stay at Bally’s or Caesars on the boardwalk. At Harrah’s I feel too hemmed in without any nearby options.

January and February are probably the slowest two months down in AC. Folks are paying off the ghost of Christmas past and it’s really dead. If you have a pulse and ran a little coin through a slot machine, you’ll probably get a comp room Sunday-Thursday.

The Playground, agreed, that place is depressing. But if you walk up to the top floor, there are several restaurants, Phillips Seafood, a sushi place, The Continental and Buddakan (the last two operated by a Philly guy, Stephen Starr who has abouut 20 or so successful restaurants and recently opened a couple in NYC). The top floor also has floor to ceiling windows along the south side and Adirondack chairs to catch the waves rolling in. Can’t think of a better place on the whole island in the winter to catch some rays and sip on a coffee.

At Bally’s there is Harry’s Oyster bar as well and about 3 blocks away is Docks Oyster House, family owned for over 100 years and recently expanded and renovated.

Love the Irish Bar, and its a must visit during Christmas just to see the decorations. Hope to be down there for St. Patrick’s day.

Haven’t been to the new Caesars buffet, but agree that the Waterfront is tough to beat. Unless you’re paying cash, $30 for breakfast would give me heartburn. We like Care Roma with the made to order omelette station and a BOGO coupon, it’s a good deal.

Congrats on the great hits, I will need to look for those three reel quick hits machines. Congratulations on the impending bundle of joy! So in the summer, come down and rent a Shore place in Brigantine, Ventnor, Margate, Longport or Ocean City. Hit the beach in the day and the slots at night.

Me and a friend made our first trip to AC in Oct. It was a good trip and we visited the Irish bar a few times. I didn't know it was open 24 hours, so one night I asked what time do you close. It was music to my ears when the guy said "we don't." I put a few dollars in the jukebox as well on my nights in there. The Piccalli bar was also a good place to go.

I'm happy with the remodel, Bally's started to look scary looking back in the day.

    Thank-You :)

Thank-You and thanks, we're exciting about Baby Nicholas arrival in a couple of months. I never thought about renting a shore place instead of just staying at the casino especially with the baby. Thanks for the idea, definitely going to have to keep that in mind.

    Thank you!!!

The only thing I remember is how cheap the drinks were and how they kept coming, I was barely over 21 at the time and I don't even remember how I got back to the Taj that night to crash. This was back erm in 02 or 03'. Lol, good times.

I couldn't believe how cheap it was in there, that's why we kept going back.

WOW -you did great in AC... really great hits and I enjoyed your report! I always wanted to try Gilchrist for breakfast as I heard they have the best pancakes - but never got there and now I am not sure I ever will... Harrah's buffet is really good but Borgata's is my favorite, however, for me, its easier to get a comped buffet at Harrah's - harder to get good offers at Borgata. Irish Pub - that is a great place!! Loved your room picture at Bally's and nice view! Loved all your slot pictures!

Great AC trip report. I agree with your observations about AC for the most part ,we're down there a lot living close by ,sometimes once a week. I'll give you and anybody else interested some local knowledge about the GSP. Sorry you got sick. Next time travel in the local lanes either way,get off at exit 120 just south of Cheesequake rest stop. Theres a Quik Chek a block away ,much cheaper gas and food and ez on and off. Considering your action Harrahs should give you the newly renovated Bayview Rooms. At 120 turn right southbound, left northbound. They feature 5 6 in. subs for $3 each and $2 lg coffee and any doughnut .

If I try Gilchrist again, it'll probably be at the trop or another location. From hindsight, during the summer, I probably would just stay on the boardwalk instead of making a special trip to the one I posted about.

Thanks going to have to keep Quik Chek in mind.
I was currently gold with very little play at the time of the booking, I originally booked bally's comped, and tacked on an additional night hence Harrah's. Last year we stayed a night in one of the Bayview Rooms and they were quite nice.

    Thank You!!! :)

Going to posting again to the blog, mostly my thoughts on things, comparing Vegas to AC.

Great report and awesome pics! Well done my friend.

It's strange you say "Are some aspects better than Las Vegas? Very little." Then compare the Boardwalk there to Wildwood. And the beach to Florida. Not sure how those fit into Vegas comparisons, since Vegas has neither a beach nor Boardwalk.

I like AC for those two reasons (and many money) since it has so many things that Vegas does not. I like the arcades, the kooky little shops, the nostalgia, the Steel Pier ETC. I'd compare those things to what Vegas offers, and not compare what other destinations have as well.
