Sounds like a Vegas-set reboot of "Two and a Half Men!"
But it sounds good to me, Grid! :D

Sprinkles are for winners. Good thing you got them before your final hit.

Enjoyable report. Not into slots but well-written. Sounds like you had a great time.

Another very well done TR Grid. Great pics and loved the flow of the narrative. Glad you swung for the fences when you were up, a 2 C-Note loss isn't too bad considering all the coin-in.

Those sprinkles were the only thing edible at the buffet LOL

I'd almost rather ride the roller coaster of a little down then up VS getting up so fast and slowly slide down. But if I had to crash and burn, I'd rather it be on won money then brought money. Thanks for reading it Mike.

Thanks for your report! Enjoyed every line and photo. Made my day. I walked the Luxor buffet carrying an empty plate til I finally had to choose something, mine was a hard pot sticker.

craigslist is pretty limited up in our neck of the woods.
Dmitri is the best I could get on such short notice.
I had to drive to St. Paul to pick him up. :faint:
He's in the bonus room rolling nickels right now.
    We should be ready soon!

I did the same thing! I even checked the salad bar, which i never do, and was this close to eating croutons with ranch and cheese. But when I picked up the spoon to get some cheese it was all congealed together in a mass. So I abandoned ship on that idea and ate some more ice cream

I didn't say Dmitri was a bad choice, we usually just vote on these things. We don't want another transvestite situation on our hands! I still have to write that trip report BTW, but I'm afraid Sonja would toss us both for perversions...

    Thanks!

Very entertaining TR as usual. I am surprised you didn't give Cromwell a little bit of play. I found the Cromwell has excellent drink service.

    Nice trip and report...

So you play a real wide mix of machines. I read your comment about specialty vs non-specialty and I never found MGM to be good about marking specialty slots, and I've never seen anybody say that the boothlings ever know.

I always just go on the assumption that reel machines are non-specialty, older video slots (like Cleos and Texas Tea and that sort of thing) are non-specialty, and probably anything tall or anywhere near new is a specialty machine. Is that a fair assumption? Are any of the specialty machines actually marked?

There is next to no slot selection at the Cromwell. Plus most of the games are all along the main aisle where all the foot traffic passes, so you cant put your feet up and zone out. It's dark and just not a very fun place, for us any way. Thanks for the read!

Thanks Chuck! SOME specialty machines are marked. They have a little plaque that says $10 = 1 point. While most others are not marked, and you just have to watch your points add they add up to figure it out. Ghostbuster at Luxor, not a specially game. Ghostbusters at Excalibur is. Same machine, different rules. I assume the Luxor version was just an over site.

Generally speaking, you nailed it. Most all reel machines are normal, even new ones, unless they have a licensed theme, like Wonka. All older games like you mentioned are safe, but I have found those multi-game VP machines that also have slots, to give you points based on poker coin in, even though you are playing a slot machine. Most new penny games, that are generic (no theme like most Konami) are normal as well.

Honestly, it is a whole lotta work and stress when you chase comps to figure out the best value. While Total rewards is a rip with $5 = 1 penny comp. You at least know that going in the door when you play with them. Finding the right slot at MGM can mean triple the point/comp return.

$999 coin in on a normal MGM slot is a $3.33 in free play & $3.33 in express comps = $6.66 return based on point earning. And that is even greater the higher the players club is there. The same coin on a stupid specialty slot is just .99 + .99 = not even 2 bucks back. Lame

    Great description on the Crom.

We love the hotel style and rooms there, and we like the cozy feel..... for a little while. Then I start to feel just a bit “casino claustrophobic” because the size and selection just isn’t there.

Hey Grid, I just walked through Cromwell this morning. I now totally understand your point of view. You nailed it.

    Thanks R&R!

It's not like its an ugly space. I like the finishes in there. It's just a lot of nothing. The entire North Side of the casino has nothing. A weird little stage, some seating. A lot of dead space. I get the whole boutique hotel thing. But even tiny places like Casino Royale have their charms. The Cromwell is a lot of nothing. Good luck while you are out there!

Loved the report! That Vacation machine killed me last time I was in Bellagio. Ugh.
I am going to take a page out of your book and hi up that Elvis machine in December.
Thanks again for a great report!

Go get em Mike! That Elvis machine sure is fun. If you play it, go for the respin feature. Instead of playing 10 times your bet, you only get paid 8 time on wins. BUT when the feature starts, and it happens a lot, you get to run the bonus twice.
