Switching things up and staying at Paris for our upcoming trip. Did a search on the forum but didn't find much info on Paris. Anyone have any tips or must dos?

Had a choice of burgundy or red room and took the burgundy room as I think they are more recently renovated, mistake? Have spent some time in Paris casino which last time I was in vegas (a year ago) seemed to have reasonable BJ rules (think we played 3-2 $15 limit). Any comments on sportsbook? Have never been to Mon Ami but seems popular with pretty much everyone.

    Thanks!

The Burgundy rooms are the most recently renovated. I stayed in one last fall and it still had that new carpet smell. :)

For me, Mon Ami Gabi is a must do every trip. I tend to go for breakfast. I recommend you take the extra wait time and get a table out on the patio for prime people watching, and Bellagio fountains if it's later in the day. I much prefer the patio to the tables indoors, weather permitting.

Although they are forbidden for me now, I really enjoy the pastries in Cafe Belle Madeleine just outside the elevator lobby for breakfast. They have decent coffee there too.

Can't help with current blackjack or the sportsbook. Hopefully someone else can.

Great middle of the road hotel. Has such a unique feel. A branding that will never go away.

And - yes to Mon Ami. We eat there at least once every trip. And ALWAYS on the Patio. It is the ultimate Vegas for us even when staying elsewhere.

I am going to be staying there for five days starting this Friday. There is a good post on page 4 from Chooky titled " staying at Paris? " that has a lot of good info. FWIW I plan on doing a tip report during my stay so look at that and ask me any questions if you like.

If you just want to place some bets, its fine. But if you want to sit around and watch games, its not that great. I would walk over to the Ballys book instead. Or better yet, cross the street to Bellagio

the nightclub can be very loud on the weekends. If you can't sleep thru pounding club music ask for a room far far away. and another vote for Mon Ami Gabi, I recommend lunch.
the pool and hot tubs are open year round, very relaxing pool area. Its a great location!

I love the creperie. Delicious. It's located across from the buffet. My favorite is the 'St. Louie' which is a savory ham and emmental cheese. Sooo good!

Did not see any 3:2 BJ below the $25 level the last time I was at Paris. 6:5 will be on most of the tables now, especially weekends. If 3:2 at $15 level still exists there, it would be weekdays only I think.

The sportsbook has terrible video quality if you're planning on watching a game. You might find it worthwhile to cross the street to Cosmo or Bellagio to hit their sportsbooks instead. The outdoor Beer Park is actually a better place to watch a game than their sportsbook now. But beware the microprint concession fee on the menu if you go there.

Mon Ami Gabi is a must. Be sure to request a table out on the patio, and wait for one if necessary - don't let them talk you into sitting inside.

Try the new Sportsbook at the Cromwell, all the tv's are new there. The Tv's at Paris and Ballys are a bit dated.

The Burgundy rooms are nice, I stayed in one in March. The pics online don't really do them credit, the materials and design choices are quite well done.

The casino itself definitely has a couples/family vibe, probably the most family oriented on the main strip. Tons of kids running around in the retail/food concourse. Le Central bar is pretty cool, if you can handle the smoke level, which is high.

The sports book is pretty dated - it's not where I'd go to watch a game, that would be Caesars or Mirage or the new one at Cosmo.

Gustav's for VP and a drink is usually good. Top barmen even if the pay tables are shocking.

No matter what the meal, Mon Ami Gabi is always better than Paris' own St. Louis Cafe for about the same price. Consistently friendlier service too.

As mentioned above, the ham-and-cheese crepes make a great late-night bite (but our "late night" is rather early; check to see how late they stay open).

I've always enjoyed Gustav's for VP and great bartenders. Good crew. And it's a nice place to enjoy the dancer entertainment in the blackjack party pit a short distance away. But don't tell my wife.

I assume you can earn/redeem Frequent Diner points at Mon Ami Gabi?

I enjoyed the buffet at the Paris. Original dishes and a nice French village or market feel.

Stayed in Burgundy room 3 weeks ago for 3rd anniversary (room 2311). 1st time in a Burgundy room. Faced Eiffel Tower and Bellagio fountains...beautiful view, however Chateau noise at night may be a problem for light sleepers.

I agree with Mon Ami Gabi however the outside seating area is 1st come 1st served...no reservations are taken for outside seating.

The Paris Sportsbook is more than adequate (IMHO) for watching....sports (and betting). I had a reserved couch for 10/8 Bills vs Bengals game for me and 6 friends from Buffalo (came with a little round table and 2 chairs also) and we enjoyed the whole atmosphere. If you are looking for 100's of frat boys screaming and drunk, then Paris sportsbook might not be your deal, but its a more than sufficient sportsbooks and a 500/600 yards closer to your hotel room than the Ballys sportsbook!

I might add the "Le Cabaret" lounge for a late night cocktail and some good old skool music (if that's what you are in to). I'm 60 years old, and the bands ( i.e. JAMM, N'Demand etc..) that have heard perform at Le Cabaret have been outstanding!

I played 3:2 here on a Saturday in June (daytime) for $15/hand.

On weekdays and early in the day Saturday there were a few 3:2 $15 tables at Paris, at least back in April since I played at them. They were spread out, but Paris has pretty good signage with respect to pointing out what type of blackjack the table has. You shouldn't have a problem finding one early in the day on any day, including later in the day/evening on Mon-TH

Do not get a Strip view room anyday the nightclub is open and less you can sleep through your room vibrating from the base being played there. We stayed in a burgundy room end of hall back facing looking at Bally's in August and it was quiet as anything

Oh, I am glad to hear that! I am remembering now, that Paris has the 3:2 / 6:5 marking on their electronic signs, and not on the felt layout, right? At least they're giving us "price shoppers" a chance to go play 3:2 during weekend days. I noticed on my last trip that a lot of the Caesars layouts had 6:5 on the felt, meaning those were 6:5 all the time. Phooey on that.

I would also suggest trying Hexx Kitchen too. Good food and sometimes easier to get into than Mon Ami Gabi. Can't go wrong with either place.
