I was in Vegas over the weekend and the driver announced that the shuttle from the strip to Rio will be no more it is being cut 1st week of November. He didn't have the exact date, I think this is going to really hurt the Rio. I know I wont be staying there if there isn't a good way to get over to the strip and if I'm staying on the strip as I did this week I wont be visiting the Rio.

bummer. Interested to see what it does to their "foot" traffic into the casino.

What Harrahs did to the Rio after buying it was a travesty.

Maybe this is good news. Now CET has completely turned their back on the Rio. Please tell me a sale is close. The sale price will be low as I think the Rio could qualify as a super fund cleanup site

Ouch. Have a memorial day weekend stay booked there. Group of 4 guys. One of us will have a rental car but this might require us to make the change as we won't all have the same schedule for the trip. I can't imagine it takes much for the shuttle to pay for itself.

Has anyone seen another source for this? It seems like a terrible idea.

Stay at the Rio (nice, cheap rooms IMO). Walk to the Coast, and play the looser slots and cheaper tables. Eat at the cheaper, but adequate, buffet. Then take the shuttle to the strip. I really love the Rio, love the vibe, the rooms, the restaurants. But I also do a lot of just walking through the Rio to get to other properties.

isn't there still a shuttle that picks up on the side of Cromwell that goes to Gold Coast and Orleans? It's an easy walk to Rio from GC.

Nonetheless, really a stupid move by CET to drop this.

I can just picture some CET bean counter asking "Why do we have a free shuttle at Rio when they already get free parking?"

If they start charging they are going to have to change their spiel on the resort fee as shuttle to and from the strip
Is part of the services provided as a result of the RF. However it was there prior to the resort fee as well so yes, they may begin charging an additional fee. In addition.

I have. I had friends there for a convention and I shuttled out there to meet up with them for dinner. I could have taken my car, but :drunk:

That shuttle is long gone. Hasn't been in place since the Cromwell was the Barbary Coast.
There is a shuttle to Orleans and Gold Coast that is accessed near the High Roller on Linq Blvd.
The trouble with the Gold Coast shuttle is that they will ask for a Boyd room key or emerald status to get on. After that they will let on others if room is available.

This is pretty dumb on the part of CET. I wouldn't think twice about staying there (on a comp ;)) but without the shuttle it would be a real drag. I think I'd even stay at SLS over the Rio if the shuttle is gone. At least SLS has the monorail. Hopefully they will smarten up!
