Has anyone stayed at the Monte Carlo recently?

I am heading to Vegas in October. The Monte Carlo was the ONLY hotel that I could get comped. Four of my usual ones / offered ones were either max comped or blackout dates.

The construction scares me. So I am wondering if anyone has been there recently and how their stay was.

Also, does the $20 sandwich trick work if you are fully comped?

    Thanks!

All of that depends what your dates are. I stayed there on a weekend in April, so I'm not sure my information regarding closures will be any good to you, but I understand they're scheduling the construction work during "office hours" (i.e. M-F 8-5). If you're staying on a weekend, you're probably fine. If you're staying midweek, I hope you're comfortable sleeping with earplugs. I would imagine you'll have better luck requesting an upgrade than I did as many rooms are now finished and Vegas slows down a bit in the fall, however I'd manage my expectations-- I suspect your best case scenario is a Park MGM room or a view upgrade. Less likely if it's over a weekend or longer than 2-3 nights.

Thanks fugsworth for the info. I will be there Wed-Fri, so that stinks to know that they only work M-F. But I will have to try the sandwich trick and see what I can do. Hopefully I can get the new Park rooms. Thanks again!

I was there in Mid July and it was in full construction mode. They actually cleared out half the casino during my stay...
For me it was OK because I love the location and usually just sleep there... Gamble, dine, drink, ect at other MGM resorts.
The desk guy did tell me the new lobby area is scheduled to open in October. The pictures look beautiful!

A friend of mine was there last week and said looks terrible and noisy. He went in and said half the casino is under construction. I would not stay there. Hope this helps

I walked thru and played some the other day (won). I didn't hear any noise but there was some dust. I was thinking that I could stay there if comped completely. I could just walk to Aria or NYNY if I want more games to play. The number of slots is greatly reduced and I don't think there is a buffet. I like the Park area. Think positive! I just stayed in Aria and it was great but I would stay at Monte Carlo if the price is right and just go to NYNY or Aria.

Is the parking garage easy to get in and out? It's funny. Been to Vegas a few times and never stepped foot in the Monte Carlo. Not even sure where the garage is.

    But thanks for the info!

Yikes. That does scare me/us. I booked two nights at the Palazzo because of this. Two nights at Monte Carlo (just won't stay the third comp night) and two nights Palazzo.

    Thanks for the info :)

Yeah being fully comped I think it won't be too bad. I can play elsewhere and just sleep there worst case scenario.

    Appreciate the comment :)

I stayed there last Sunday to Tuesday - two nights comp. Got the new Park room, 25th floor. I thought it was fine - I used the MB pool (you can use MB or MGM), and mainly ate/played at Aria. The room was nice - certainly much improved over the old rooms. The casino does feel closed-in due to the construction, so I just bypassed it this trip. There's pool area construction noise, so if you sleep in, then it might be an issue. I'm an early riser.

Awesome! Glad to hear from someone else there recently.

I hope I get a new Park Room. I won't arrive to Vegas until very late at night. So I am going to do early mobile check in in hopes that it will assign me a Park Room because I bet they will be full when I get there at 11:30pm.

    Thanks fudgewapner :)

We just returned from four nights at the Monte Carlo Thurs evening. We had a Monaco Suite, $200
free play and $200 food and beverage comp. I asked for a high floor to avoid the construction noise.
They gave us a suite that was not remodeled on the 30th floor, unfortunately it didn't help with the noise.
The water was also shutoff 2 of the 4 nights from around 1am to 6am. The casino is at least 1/2 way under construction and the remaining slots are mostly older stuff with not a lot of variety. I wasn't going to turn down the comp
but I probably should have in hindsight. I like the Monte Carlo and have stayed several times. My kind of place, A bit quieter
and more relaxed than other strip casinos. The place just is mess currently and I would avoid it until they get it cleaned up.

Random question, but does anyone know if they got new mattresses in the renovated rooms? Last time I stayed at Monte, the mattress seemed really worn out.
