Could be a real dumb question. With all my visits to LV, I've never actually gone to a pool. Is it like any other "normal" hotel where you'd wear your trunks/t-shirt to the pool? Are there usually towels supplied, or do you take a room one? Thinking along the lines of at CP, Ballys, Flamingo, etc.

    Thanks

Towels are supplied, you will need your key to get in so bring that ( I tuck mine in a book). There is no need for money or anything valuable so leave all that in the room.

I will take a credit card and a couple of 5's and 1's (for tips). Also, I wear sweat pants or something similarly comfortable. You never know what happens on the way to the pool or back to the room. Cell phone depends on situation (Bellagio no prob., Flamingo maybe not,)

I put my key, phone, and cash in one of these and then shove it in my pocket or wear it around my neck.

It's very much water proof. No problems in 7 years of using the same one.

But you don't NEED to bring anything other than a room key in reality if you don't want to.

If your a smoker, check to see how they feel about that.

Our trip this last May - there is no smoking by the Vdara pool - because it's on the 2rd (3rd?) floor, it's considered inside so, no. Had to go all the way down to Valet and smoke. At Mandalay Bay, looked like they removed the sand from the ashtray / garbage combo boxes by the pool. I just put the butt in a plastic cup with water. No one questioned me smoking by the pool (or others that were) but... 50 years ago, it was cool. Now? Like we kill kittens.

    Otherwise -
We're huge pool goers - wear your shorts to the pool; I usually wear a older white linen shirt thats ok if I spill a drink on it or whatever.
Don't forget your sunscreen. A hat helps for guys and girls. Flip flops or sandals work fine. Anything by crocs work well (plastic / rubber / water proof)
Keep your phone and room key in a case like others said - any drinks and food can usually be charged to the room (including tip)
If your by yourself - I might bring headphones - pool ambient music is basically loud elevator music unless you go to a day club in which case, your at a party so...
