    My Trip Report

IMG_0133.PNG The day has arrived. We've gotten way excited for this trip these past few days. Packed and ready to go. Flight from MFE scheduled to lift off at 7:45pm CDT and arrive in Vegas 8:50pm PDT. Well the heat wave in SW US changed that iteneary. Too hot for planes to be fueled in Vegas this afternoon. So we are delayed until 11:00pm here and if all goes well arrive LAS at 12:05am.

We'll post as we go along. Hopefully there be joy and buffoonery coming soon. Better pics to come.

    Happy travels!
Maybe a positive coming from the delays:
You should have a prettier arrival coming in right after midnight! (The canvas of night as a backdrop for all the pretty lights!) :D

    Best wishes!

Nothing worse than a delay after the excitement and build up......can only go UP from here. Have a great trip; looking forward to your updates.

Well it is a good thing to live about 15 minutes from our airport. Allegiant cancelled the flight. Back at the house. Mildly depressed. We should be out of here about 1:50pm CDT tomorrow. Just received an email from Allegiant. Email has 2 vouchers of $100 each for use on a future flight. Expires 6/24/2018. Guess we'll do another Vegas trip right after Christmas. Called Paris to make sure we keep the hotel reservation. Then talked with Thrifty to make sure we hold onto the car reservation. Never actually talk to Thrifty. Talked to several people on at least two orher continents about the reservation. I am warily confident that the car res is good till 10:00pm (2200 hrs) CDT tomorrow. Goodnight Vegas lovers. Tomorrow will surely bring better luck. Thanks for the well wishes.

That sucks. I know I had a five hour delay once and was really frustrated, could not imagine how mad I would be if my flight was canceled.

Ok, I'm just curious about something. How did the re-fueling issue IN Vegas affect your flight INTO Vegas? Possibly, the flight was coming from LAS to MFE and couldn't fuel up for that leg? Just a curious observation.

The small airports that Allegiant serves don't have spare planes laying around. You wait for the LAS plane to come, and that is your plane out. In our case last month, our Allegiant flight was cancelled due to mechanical issues. It came late from LAS, but the pilot wanted it checked before we boarded. After 5 hours it ended up being cancelled totally, and not rescheduled. We were out of luck. Never again.

Had similar experience a couple of years ago. Fool me once.....
I'll stick to airlines that operate on a daily basis to and from my airport.

These are the reasons I am afraid to try the discount carriers like Allegiant and Frontier and would rather pay 50-100 more for Southwest, at least they will do what they can to get you where you need to be.

I would just rather pay the slight extra for southwest as well, they fly so many flights into vegas that even if one is problematic, another will likely be forthcoming soon. Also, the constant delays and cancellations (aside from the heat situation which obviously affects everyone) allegiant /spirit/etc seem to have constantly doesn't seem to be worth saving 50-100 I'll lose at blackjack in 15 minutes anyway lol

Yeah it's sucks indeed. Especially when it messes with a Vegas trip.

We love Southwest. Fly them out of San Antonio frequently. When we are already there visiting family and headed somewhere else after the visit. Where we live it is a 45 minutes hike to HRL. MFE is 15 mins from the house. This is first time we've been delayed or cancelled on an Allegiant flight out of McAllen.

The plane was flying LAS to MFE to LAS. Couldn't fuel in Vegas.

Makes sense. But, if all they do is a loop between the same cities, As close as McAllen is, I would think they could do the fueling there rather than LAS and still make the loop with one full "tank". Maybe I'm looking at this wrong.

We arrived yesterday 2:45pm. From plane to baggage carousels to car rental center took less than 40 minutes. Quick stop at a Smith's Grocery south of Warm Springs Road on South LV Blvd. 112 degrees when we got to town. Two cases of water and snacks for the room. Traffic was light on the strip IMG_0161.JPG IMG_0162.JPG

Pulled into Paris around 4:15pm. Valet for the car. Bellman for the bags. Went inside to a raucous mass of humanity. The registration area was nuts. Line out into the casino all the way to the Black Jack tables. Probably spent 40 minutes in line. Then another 20 at the counter with the clerk. Because we had paid for Saturday night but didn't use the room she wanted to have the casino people reduce the charge. The rest of our nights are comped. Eventually the entire amount of the charge for Saturday was credited back to our account.

Once in the room we kinda collapsed for a few minutes. The bellman delivered the bags, cases of water and several bags of some kind of skinny something popcorn. A plan was hatched to go to India Palace for dinner. It is located on Twain just off East of Paradise. After some fabulous Indian food we headed to Wynn.

Ran up some points on the Red Card. Lost the Benjamin. She wanted to find a Wheel of Fourtune machine. We played one. We were way tired. By 11:00pm we weee back in the room at Paris.
