I was checking the calendar rates on Total rewards and saw Planet Hollywood was listed at $2300 per night the first week. I thought it was a glitch as I was showing comped at most other CET properties.
I checked back and still was high. Then checked some other sites and all showed similar pricing.
SWA Vacations actually had it for $6300/ person with the airfare!
Any ideas why they are so outrageous?
I've looked at the convention and headliner schedules and they showed nothing out of the ordinary.

Either someone booked the entire hotel except the Apex suites, or it's a bug.

There is a big event on October. Can't remember if it's a convention or an awards show but that would be why. It's draws a PH type of customer.

I'm pretty sure that's when the new NHL team will play their first home game(s)

What dates? I was hoping to go for my birthday on 10/14, because it's going to be a big one, but those rates are way out of my price range. :)

Wow - glad I booked early then. I will be there
then and had no trouble getting comped, but
I booked way, way early. Looks like I dodged a bullet
there. Glad I didn't wait to book.

One thing I have noticed is air fares in August seem very high.
I was trying to go in August too and can't seem to find a decent
price when I want to go. I guess the airlines are all having no
problems filling up right now either.

You may be right, the last pre season game is Oct 1 but the NHL regular season games have not been announced yet, not till June 20th, you cant even get tickets until August, I know I've been looking into it :)

I went into the booking and it pulls up either a Boulevard, Panorama or Apex suite. That would explain the price. So either the link is wrong or they are completely sold out except for these suites.

The first thing I looked for. No big conventions or concerts that I could find.
The opening of the NHL season may be to blame as suggested. But still doesn't explain why just PH is effected.

Also a huge concert Route 91 Harvest concludes on Oct 1st maybe that helped bring up the rates that Sunday night.

I show it (Planet Hollywood) as "sold out" for 10/3-10/5, but the rest of the month is available.

I see 2 conventions going on that first week. First the Global Gaming Expo (10/3-10/5) and then the Electronic Retail Association (also 10/3-10/5)

The entire month of October seems pretty high around the strip compared to last year.

Same here, comped at PH, except for 10/3-10/5.

That is crazy! I've never heard of this organization (Monat), but it looks like they're doing a big shindig at PH October 3rd -6th....maybe they've already reserved most of the rooms? Looks like Monat Global is some hair product/beauty product line...
