Every one I've been to is packed to the gills, the place in Birmingham is wall to wall during the week also.
    Very surprising

I've been to the one in Tamarac (South Florida) a few times and it was always pretty empty. Many places are busy on Friday nights/Saturdays, the question is whether they can generate enough revenues the other times during the week.

I've only been once and thought it was a nice experience but having been raised on the coast and used to reasonable seafood prices at the mom and pops, I was appalled at the final bill so never went back. Most restaurants need repeat customers and I'm thinking this is what did them in, stone crabs are awesome but $150 for 2 people is hard to justify if not on west coast or northeast..hope they can restructure and get healthy

A lot of chain restaurants are going to see some adversity. People are either eating out less or going local.

Yup, I saw the prices and just kept on walking. I saw them in San Fran and vegas and I thought the prices were a little high IMHO.

Blame it on the millenials. They are staying home, buying up all the wine and ordering Blue Apron.

One of the worst culinary experiences I've had recently was at Joes. Went in for a light lunch, we had just jogged the causeway and needed to eat something. So being somewhat healthy we decide on Joes for some seafood protein replenishment..YAY! She orders a cup of the seafood gumbo, and oysters.. The gumbo came out room temp, and was so salty it was inedible. I ordered a Ceasar salad with grilled shrimp. Salad was decent, it's kinda hard to fuck up a salad, or so I thought until I took a bite of the shrimp. Whatever spice they used (Old bay and something else) also made the shrimp so briny they too were inedible. All the while, the kitchen was like a scene out of a Jerry Springer episode. A profanity riddled argument between a cook and a waitress erupted and was handled by the manager on duty by him yelling "Yall motherfuckers need to calm the fuck down up in heah!!" Yep. It was ghettofabulous. The dining room was filthy dirty also. So this is not shocking to me in the least...Oh and for the pleasure of sub par food, in a dirty fucking restaurant, run by hood rats - I had to pay close to 60 dollars.

I think some of the posters in this thread are confusing Joe's Crab Shack with Joe's Stone Crab/Joe's Seafood.

Two very different places, and not related to each other.

Our local shack would consistently disappoint and the mostly empty parking lot reflects it. Over priced + under whelming food + mediocre service = closings.

Nope... those those millennials refusing to spend money there.

They would have gotten away with it too if it weren't for those damned kids!
