Sports book or place to watch the NBA

I am going to be in Vegas in just 12 days (But who is counting.) Later on in my trip some younger friends will be joining me who are huge Basketball fans. I do not bet on sports but I know they will want to bet and watch the NBA finals. Any suggestions on where to do it Downtown. We are staying at the Tez.

I will also be up on the strip and I thought one or two nights we would go to the strip they could lay down some bets and watch the game. Any suggestions. I know Caesars has a nice sports book but how crowded do you think it will be during this time.

 

The finals will draw some people but not anything like a regular season football game (NFL or college). I love Caesar's sportsbook. It's a "classic".

 

Think it depends on where you're staying. Several good books on the Strip that have a lot to offer.

 

Westgate is the a sight to see - though just off strip a few blocks. Dozens of Lazy Boys, screens the size of movie theatres. Deli on hand for snacks. No waiting list for seats (like Caesars).

 

The tez has a sports book that you can sit and watch the game. The Plaza probably has the nicest sports book to watch the game from. The Cal has a new sportsbook where you can sit and watch the game. Fremont also has a sportsbook to watch the game from. GN has a 2nd floor place to lounge and watch tv I think but it isn't a sports book.

My bet would be the Plaza, nice big digs and a bigger area to relax and watch the game. The Cal is nice but will get busy during the game and they don't really have much of a menu if you want to eat something.

 

Plaza or Cal imo...im in the Cal sportsbook right now and find it a nice place to watch games---has good bartenders and $3 coronas

 

But what if you want something like chicken wings to eat? I don't think the Cal has much to offer for food. Just sayin'. That's why I hated when they got rid of that Club Cal lanai restaurant, now I have to go to the market st. café for food but they don't allow take out anymore.

 

He's staying downtown but wants to watch a game or two on the strip.

 

Oh, that's very helpful yes. Caesar's is a nice place, spacey. I'm partial to MGM and Mandalay Bay books myself, but that might be too far of a jog for him and the boys. When we stayed at the Wynn last year I really liked their setup and the comfy chairs.

 

Agreed. I don't like the place overall but the book is pretty sweet. Technically not on the strip but close enough.

 

I like Wynn as well.

Caesar's is definitely a good and classic choice, especially since they updated the screens. I'm also partial to the book at Mirage, really dig that space, comfortable spot. Lots of great options on the Strip.

 

Misunderstood the OP question, thought they would be viewing the games downtown... if on strip 1)Westgate 2)Mirage 3)Cosmo

Another vote for Westgate, screens are amazing.

 

The best downtown book is Golden Nugget or Plaza. Lots of good options on the strip. I really liked the Planet Hollywood book even though it doesn't get lots of mentions.

 

For me the nuggets seating is to close to the big screens and sensory overload starts happening after 1/2 hour...

 

I can see that... the seats are a pretty small space. I like sensory overload.

 

I cant believe that the Nugget wouldn't rearrange that set up...they could do a lot more with that space if they would put a little work into it. Downtown I think The Cal is the best...a little small. Plaza SB is dumpy/smoky/seedy IMO. Westgate would be overall choice.
