Combining players card with spouse

Anyone know which downtown properties allow this? Interested in pros/cons from those in the know.

If we have a joint players club account, can one of us use an offer even if traveling solo?

 

If you always travel together, putting all the play on one card gets you a higher ADT.

If you sometimes travel alone... then maybe linking will help. Most that I know of on the strip treat each persons ADT/Theo independent of the other. Not sure about downtown.

 

FYI..On our first trip to Las Vegas/Four Queens we were allowed to have one account with 2 players cards. Last year, on our 2nd trip to the Four Queens we were told they no longer can put us on one account, we got two cards with separate accounts. I don't know about the other down town properties.

 

They don't know what you don't tell them. But the person who's card it is would need to be there to use any comps. Just don't abuse the system by giving your card out at a family reunion. Especially since it's a spouse you could easily play it off if you hit a handpay by saying you didn't notice which card you had put in.

A big plus will be being seen as a bigger single player. In general that is better than 2 smaller players. This is how it worked at a locals casino for me. Alone the gf and I generated nothing more than the occasional 2 for buffet and $10 or $20 in free play. But once on the same card, comp rooms and partial f&b covered as well.

 

We use my card at all Vegas, Boyd casinos. They used to have what was called a linked account, so my wife could use our points at the gift shop. That has ended. If she wants to buy something and doesn't have enough points on her card, I have to be there.

But, Boyd fully understands two people playing on one card and there is no problem.

 

Don't confuse this with having one account but multiple cards. You play with card and wife plays with the other card(s). If you both do table games, this probably will not work. You can easily put cards from the SAME account in multiple machines. Some people do this because they want to play two machines at once.

Some people do have two separate accounts, but they put all the play on one card/account.

At Mlife, we do have a "joint" account. But, we put 99% of play on one account using multiple cards. The offers are all for the one good account.

 

Second time to vegas, I got caught using two cards at same time.

At Aliante, before boyds. First time there, I got players cards and gave one to my wife. I was playing craps and her roulette. Pit asked me if somebody else was using my card. I didn't know any better. Didn't even really know about comps. Pit guy kinda rolled his eyes. They still took my money.

 

Tables are pretty much a no anywhere. Multiple cards in different machines on opposite ends of the casino. No issue.

 

My parents had separate accounts at most of the Downtown casinos. The first trip after my mom died, my dad brought a copy of her death certificate with him and went to the casinos where they had separate accounts, informing them that she had died and enquiring about her points. Not sure about the other places, but I know Boyds and Binion's transferred her points to his account. My mom had accrued well over $1,000 in food comps at Binion's, so we had some great meals at the Top of Binion's Steakhouse for a couple of trips. My dad's next trip to Las Vegas was a few years later, and, sadly, his Binion's account had lapsed and was closed (I believe 13 months of inactivity will do it), so he lost several hundred dollars worth of food comps and had to get a new card.

 

Good info. We play on the same card and because we get the Gold Card for all our meals, my point total is over 2 million. Now I know I should cash it out, but I keep waiting for the day we don't get the Gold Card and we have enough points to eat at any Boyd restaurant.

We do cash out 400,000-600,000 points every Oct for our anniversary and piss it away on machines we don't normally play, but I'm like the squirrel that saves the nuts for winter. My wife has longevity in her family, mine not so much, so I always did wonder about this predicament, because I always assume I will be kicking off first.

Good to know with proper proof of death, Boyd will transfer points.

 

Did you see the thread that said Sam's Town had eliminated the Gold and Silver cards?

Might be worth a call to your host to see if these cards at MSS have succumbed to the same fate. Fingers crossed for you.

I am so glad I started reading this thread. I totally forgot about using two cards for one account in the machines.

I am assuming, my aunt can use my card while playing the slots and I can use my card as well, playing the slots, at the same time.

We will be in Vegas in June, celebrating her 89 birthday, and since she is from Washington state, this will be her last big bang for Vegas, and she said she will not be interested in any future offers that may come about. She is signing up for her own players card for the free slot play for new members though.

We are staying at MSS for 4 nights and 1 night at the Plaza.

Is this okay for all Boyd properties? We are planning on going to Sam's Town for an afternoon, and I like playing at the Fremont and California.

We've done many times at MSS and Sam's Town. I have hand pays with my wife's card in the machine, they didn't care, just gave them my ID for the W2. Just a couple of weeks ago my son, wife, and me all played on the same account sitting three across at the bar.

 

We often play side by side on the same card and even get the scratchers for 4oaks. We even keep a 3rd card between us so we can just hand them that one rather than having to take out the one we're playing on.

No problem playing slots on different sides of the casino at the same time on the same account either.
