    Quick and to the point:

Going to Vegas already in July for a week.

Going to visit my pops in the Black Hills of South Dakota where the buffalo roam and the Sioux love their liquor in earlier June. Then flying from Rancid City to Denver, where I was planning on spending six days (mostly in Ft Collins....home of the MIT of the western U.S., Colorado State University).

I got to thinking it would be a tragedy to be out west and not drop by Las Vegas, so I'm looking into a really quick 36 hour (max) trip where I zip in and zip out during the six day Colorado venture.

I'm struggling figuring out where to stay. I can't justify staying in a legit suite like I normally would, because I really don't see me spending significant time in a room...but I have OCVR (Obsessive Compulsive Vegas Routine) and I do like a decent enough room in case I want to relax for a little bit...drink some vodka-Gatorades...listen to some Suicidal Tendencies.

Narrowed down to these choices (Downtown):

El Cortez Cabana Super Suite ($46)
City Suite @ Downtown Grand ($109...never stayed here before)
Golden Gate Suite ($79...leading candidate...-300 I'd choose this if you're betting)

    Strip choices:

    Mandalay Bay Executive King ($128)
    Bellagio Resort Tower King ($134)
    Flamingo GO Mini Suite ($87)

Factor in I will rent a car IF I stay downtown. A Pinto or something cheap n'shitty.

Downtown is closer to Palomino and I like gambling/vibe down there more. I would go to the Strip for six-eight hours during my trip.

Strip rooms would be nicer. I would spend a solid ten-twelve hours downtown/Palomino. I also would save by not renting a car and I'd be much closer to the airport, which is nice considering I'll be sauced to the gills.

    Decisions...decisions...give me your $.02.

That wasn't very quick, it turns out.

Da Grand because you'll be across the street from Triple George and very close to the dilapidated Binions casino

Only the Gate appreciates me with freebee standard rooms...but my walk in closet is larger than that 200 sq ft space.

If the trip is this short and you are going to be spending 10-12 hours downtown or at 1848 N Las Vegas Blvd, then stay downtown.

I personally vote for doing something different. The "City Suite" at DTG looks pretty flipping awesome. Consider the extra $30 over the Gate to be the "new experience" price tag. If money is truly a deciding factor, then go cheap at El Co.

I don't like any of your Strip choices. The Flamingo is a dump IMO. I like Delano over MB.

Western SD in July should be very nice. (I went to college in Rapid City, definitely know the area.) You should hit up Deadwood if you haven't been there.

36 hours in Vegas I doubt I would even see much of the room.

As for driving I'm not sure what the drink driving limits are in the U.S but I would be in no fit state the next day to even attempt driving.

Smart choice = don't go. Enjoy the mountains.

But with that CSU/ MIT degree, we all it's gonna happen. Good.

GG suite and uber. Cheap, easy and safe. Just like Vegas women.

Lived in the Black Hills for a little bit, myself. Pops retired out there back in the 90's and I try and make it out every couple of years (and I will go to Deadwood - get rolled again....catch some trout in Pactola Lake...drink Hamm's, etc).

I think you'll have a hard time finding a Pinto to rent. I'd get a Fiero, personally.

I would go for the Bellagio room.
The extra $50 is not that important I suppose, otherwise you might just stay on the mountain.

The el co cabana suites got good reviews when I was looking to book in July. Price is right for a nice room and it's cheap to lyft anywhere you want to go.

For $50 you get a clean room with a fridge. Why spend anymore for 36 hours?

I would do downtown no matter where you stay and do uber. You are so close to many casinos and if you get bored you can take the bus that leaves from Cal/Fremont to ST and back for a change of scenery. Or you could take the city bus to Suncoast and then back for another change of scenery. But I am a downtown kinda guy so consider the source!
