Purely curious... Do stand-alone bars and restaurants around the Las Vegas area comp drinks if they have bartop machines? Or does it depend on the place?

I've seen a lot of places with bartop machines and was wondering how that works or if it is just something available to patrons to pass the time while drinking/eating.

I swear that we got something free at the bar at Casa di Amore once while we were playing at the bar and waiting for our table, but it was awhile ago so I could be wrong. Then bad example, but Pub 365 at Tuscany (yes, I know that one is in a casino) has bartops but does not comp beers players anymore.

    Just wondering. ;)

I was at a PTs a couple of years ago at about 5am and drinks were comped while playing VP at the bar.

Pub 365 doesn't comp beers anymore??? When did this change???? I thought any beer up to $10 retail was covered? I'm gonna be pissed if I visit this month and can't get some decent beer for free.

And it depends on the place generally. I think Frankie's will comp normal drinks, but not the $10 tiki drinks. Aces and Ales will comp some of the craft beer they serve.

I know the peppermill will comp drinks if you are playing but not their speciality drinks.

I had heard a rumor so I sent them a PM on Facebook asking about it. They said "we no longer comp players anymore, sorry!" This was February 25th.

That made it go from a must visit place to a maybe stop by place for me. I guess it would depend on the paytables, if I want to play or just have a couple beers there. I'm not going to play shitty paytables somewhere AND pay for drinks.

Shit. Now I wish I stopped by there in September. If you want to play double bonus, the paytable is good, 9/7/5 (99.11%). Most other games are also a notch off "full pay" like 7/5 Bonus (98.01%) and 9/5 DDB (97.87%).

But rather play at TAG or 32 Degree Bar at M for "free" beer at that rate.

Damn, that is really bad news about pub 365. I have only recently found out about that place by reading on here and was really looking forward to some good old VP and beer sessions there in my upcoming trip in May :(

I'l try to check it out and report back. And exactly, it takes a lot to get me to get out of my chair at TAG.

It's Vegas and things can change on a dime. Maybe they will see it hurts business at the bar. I'm going to check it out next week and I will report back.

Casa di Amore absolutely does comp drinks. Drink comping for non-casino places are a hit or miss. If I know I am going somewhere that has bartop VP and they aren't a casino I always shoot them an email and ask them for clarification that way there is no misunderstandings with the bartender. Here are a few places that will comp that aren't necessarily a casino.

Frankie's Tiki - requires $20 buy in @ $1 bet - can comp beers and standard booze (Corona, Sapporo, Jameson, Crown all comped for play at that level.)

    Velveteen Rabbit
    - Can't remember specifics but I know that they were chinchy as hell on their comps - $20 buy in and you get a basic beer (no foofoo cocktails) and nothing else till that $20 has been played through or some other weird requirement.

    Sporting Life Bar
    - you basically get one comp drink for every $20 played, however, the owner says that as long as you are consitently playing the drinks will keep coming.

    Big Dog's Brewing Company
    - they comp but can't remember details

    Pub 365
    - RIP (that was a go to place) I wonder how long that ride was gonna last. The bastards!

    Umami Burger
in the SLS - they had no problem comping craft beers when I was playing VP. They have a REALLY good beer bottle/can selection (not much if any on draft).

Mi Casa Grill Cantina at the Silverton - Here is how you stretch your gaming dollar. If you play bartop VP at Mi Casa Grill you will not only get your drinks comped but you get chips and salsa on the house as well (you have to ask for it though). To take it one step further if you are there Fri thru Sun from 4pm to 7pm they have their tapas plates for half off. That's a few bucks for Fajita Beef Skewers or taquitos or quesadillas! Between the free flowing beer, free chips/salsa and heavily discounted tapas if you leave sober and hungry then it your own fault!

And I save the best for last!

The Golden Tiki - They are known for their foofoo $10 cocktails and they aren't comped, however, $20 in gets you a craft beer and as long as you are playing they keep the beers going. At least that was my experience. I was drinking Victory Golden Monkey, Maui coconut Porter's, Mai Tai's, Get Up Offa Brown, etc with no problems as long as I was playing VP (shhh, I slow played the hell out of that machine!). Full disclosure. We went there at noon during a weekday so the place was dead. We chatted up the bartender and I am pretty sure he was knocking some money off of the foofoo signature drinks. We were there for 3 hours having a blast getting hammered and the final bill was $15 after 13 drinks. I didn't ask any questions and we tipped the heck out of that guy. We should have made it out FIRST place to visit instead of out last place to visit before the flight home. I barely remember going through screening and I slept the whole flight back to Houston. Good times!

    Got 2 more...

Crown & Anchor Pub - they said "As long as the customer is playing max bet, and isn't taking a long break, we comp alcohol."

Aces and Ales - I'm just gonna quote them because it doesn't make much sense to me, "VIP players dropping 500+ a session are comped on pretty much everything during their gaming session."

Um $500? You bet your sweet ass you'll comp whatever for a $500 minimum buy-in session!

If I find any more places I'll post 'em up!

Just found my notes on Umami Burger at SLS - they said "Slot comps are 1 drink per $20 that our guest inserts into the video machines, our guest have to be an active players and we comp drinks under $12."

I seem to remember that as long as you bought in for $20 and you were playing they they didn't sweat comping additional drinks.

Policy may have changed, but Aces and Ales was willing to comp me a IPA just from a typical $20 buy-in back in August 2015.

Yeah, I don't know what that guy was smoking. Aces used to have a lunch/dinner promo where you run like $30 through VP and they would comp X amount towards a meal (very similar to Crown & Anchor's lunch comp). But they took that info off of their website a while ago.

Exactly! You could parlay comped drinks while playing for comped meals and do pretty good. I read a Yelp review once where there was some confusion with the bartender regarding the lunch comp. Seems the bartender thought you had to LOSE $20 completely to get the food comp versus just run $20 through and cash out the difference to get the comp. Hopefully they have ironed that out by now.

Thanks for checking this out. I was planning to give 365 a visit late this month. If they don't comp the beer to players it's not worth the trip from downtown.
