Booking a Cherokee trip and all their room categories are available, mountain view luxury and premium, soco luxury and premium and creekside luxury and premium. Based on their website, the creeksides are the highest priced so I chose a Creekside premium. Any thoughts or input is welcome and appreciated.

The newer Creek tower is definitely the way to go. I believe the only difference between luxury and premium is the view. With premium, you should get a mountain view.

Agree with cmani. Creekside is the newest wing. I always select a Premium if available. A couple of other things. Their WiFi in the rooms is terrible. If you really need connectivity, the free WiFi near the coffee shop is much better. Speaking of the coffee shop, save your receipt for cheap refills all day. Their coffee is much better than what's in the casino. Almost every room fridge gets way too cold and freezes what you put in there. Check it closely.

For suites, we actually like the older tower. The suites in the new tower have frosted glass between the bed and the bathroom... and sliding doors that are noisy to the bathroom. As to regular rooms, the newer tower is better. In the end, not much difference. They all (even non suites) have coffee makers and I think they all have fridges.

Just out of curiosity what is the closest airport to Cherokee? We were there over New Years but flew in from Tampa to Raleigh to visit family and ended up driving about 4 hours or so on to Cherokee. Next time there probably won't be the family layover so would like to fly in a little closer if its possible.
    Thanks

I am going to guess Asheville is closest - probably an hour or so drive

Asheville is the closest airport--it is just over an hour if you take the main highways and not the route that takes you through some small towns.
We live about 20 minutes from Cherokee so I am very familiar with the casino.
I prefer the soco tower as I don't like the layout of the creek tower rooms--they feel smaller --they are longer but feel narrower than the soco rooms.
Also the elevators between the soco and mountain towers is closer to the casino than taking the elevator by the creek tower-LOL still a walk but not as far as the other elevator.

I stayed in the lowest level oldest rooms and the room was extremely roomy and the beds were just fine. I didn't see the other rooms, but I don't see them being worth the extra $50 for the night. Use that extra money and put it on red for me.

Actually the rooms in the mountain tower and the soco tower are very similar--and they have been re-doing rooms in the soco and will start on the mountain tower soon

Go with the premium the view is very relaxing. Regarding on the wifi connectivity I agree it is not that good. I could not even send an email on my phone so better to go to the coffee shop for a good free wifi connection.

    Re: crappy wifi
We were there last weekend and they still charge $11.77 per 24hrs but now you can connect "up to 5 devices" on it. Yay? :)

And also want to mention on wifi--it is not free for Diamond members like it is at most Caesars property's--Cherokee has their own rules

Everyone's advice has been right on the money. It's a five hour trip for me by car, but Cherokee and Murphy are the "only games in town" if you're looking for casino action in NC. Have stayed in all three towers - Creek is the newest...but all of the rooms are large. Most people who visit the first time are surprised that they can't get comped beer, wine and mixed drinks. The agreement that the Indian leaders struck with the state in 2009 didn't allow for comped drinks - even while you're gambling. Prices usually around $4.50 and up for beer/wine...$7 and up for mixed drinks. Spa, indoor and outdoor pools, and good dining options for this mountain town (Ruths Chris Steakhouse, Brio, a good buffet, and a food court) - makes it easy to find everything you need at the resort. They've had to essentially "rebuild" both multi-story parking decks because of construction flaws when first built - but the deck for the hotel is completely open again - they still have floors closed on the deck for the casino. Hope you have a profitable trip.

    Re: free booze
Cherokee doesn't comp alcohol outright---but you can pay for drinks with RC's and use food comps towards them. Last weekend we used one of our "celebration $100 dinner" at Brio and "drank" half of it.Voila! Comped drinks. Kinda.

Another follow-up on alcohol: you can buy drinks in the Diamond Lounge (and take them out) for half price.

Slightly off-topic, but last time I was at Harrah's Cherokee (3-4 weeks ago) they had closed off the back part of the casino (where the line of Goldfish machines used to be) and are apparently building a bowling alley there.

The only other thing you should know about the rooms, is that all the smoking rooms are located in the Soco Tower. The other towers are non-smoking.
