Vdara or Mirage?

Hi everyone,

Looking to vacation to Vegas (woohoo) from 5/11-5/13 through MyVegas. Trying to decide between these two properties as I haven't stayed at either and was wondering how everyone felt about the two choices?

@dthoulv - Both properties are great but I'd choose Vdara (Executive Corner Suite w/ Bellagio fountain view). Vdara is a non-smoking property that doesn't have a casino; however, it is within short walking distance to Aria, Bellagio and Cosmopolitan.

 

Both good.

Vdara has much nicer rooms but is a bit off the strip. Some say they like it better because it is not a casino. I have yet to see much difference in the hotel once you leave the casino floor and go to your room.

Biggest issue is location. Where will you be spending your time.

 

I like MIrage but I'd take Vdara. Nicer rooms, nicer property and I prefer that part of the strip.

 

Depends on what you value more. Vdara is more luxurious but Mirage has everything in house.

 

I'll be there at the same time staying at Mirage. I love walking out of the elevators in the morning and directly into a casino; just a personal preference of mine. I go to Vegas for that casino/party atmosphere I don't get at home, so the more of that energy I can soak in, the happier it makes me. Playing $20 on my way out in the morning or back to the room at night is also a part of the fun for me.

 

If the pool is a concern, then Mirage.

 

This and when I am done being a degenerate, I can walk across the casino to the elevators.

 

Thanks for everyone's responses - I agree that Vdara's room do look nicer but also agree with the convenience of having a casino right at your fingertips when you get off the elevator!

One last thing if ya'll wouldn't mind throwing some additional input on is I will be driving to Vegas. I'd prefer to self-park due to saving every dollar I have for food and gambling poker and was wondering whether self-parking at the Aria or Bellagio was a better option?

OP you have to give us more to work with. What are your likes and dislikes? What environment do you thrive in? More subdued or more action? Etc.

 

Vdara is a very nice property but it doesn't offer much besides the rooms. It's quiet and if you're coming to Vegas to party you'd probably find it boring (I did the one time I stayed there). If you care more about being close to the action and partying, I'd do Mirage. If you care more about hotel quality and comfort and don't mind not having a lot of action right outside your hotel door, I'd do Vdara.

 

I'll also second the Mirage pool as a major perk. I'm a low roller with a limited gambling budget, so soaking up that desert heat by the pool with an overpriced beverage is a staple of my trips since I can't play 24/7. The Mirage pool is my kind of place for this:

- quality and pleasing design aesthetically (not just a square hole in concrete)

- good mix of people relaxing and having a good time, not a strictly young or old crowd

- music playing on the louder side (my preference)

- easy access to/from the rooms

- easy access to the casino

The only cons for me are:

- no in-pool gambling like at Caesars and others, but I don't take advantage of this much anyways because of the horrible rules and high limits

- the chairs get taken very quickly first thing in the morning, so sleeping in after a late night and then hoping to relax by the pool late morning is nearly impossible unless you plan on being in the pool the whole time.

 

I assume you have read about the recent parking charges, and assume you are not eligible for free parking - yes?

If so, I think Treasure Island still has free parking and might sway your choice towards Mirage.

 

How much is parking that one would be tempted to park at a neighboring resort?

 

That and $12 for parking won't get you many blackjack hands. 4 hands if you play at Hooters.

 

If you cant pay $12 for parking why bother staying on the strip. Its like an order of fries.

We love the Vdara. It's quiet, it doesn't stink and the rooms are awesome. Decent pool too. I think they are valet only as far as parking goes. I also like Mirage. Good food and nice casino. But we've never stayed there, so I can't give you an honest opinion on rooms or stay.
