Use Express Comps for friend's room?

Does anyone know if it's possible to use Mlife Express Comps to pay for a friend's room if I'm not a guest at that hotel? I'm maxed out at $10k and they're not that easy to use.

 

My guess is that you could as long as you were with him at checkout.

 

Can't really answer your question, although I was suspect that Hogman is correct. My last 2 trips, I have stopped into the Jean Philippe Patisserie at the Bellagio. They allow you to use EC's to pay for anything in the store - including the gift items.

 

Interesting question. I would think they'd prefer to keep you maxed out.

 

Typically anything I charge from JPP to my room is comped anyway. On checkout day we typically buy a bunch of chocolate etc as gifts for friends, and it's always taken off our final bill. So there's no use using ECs on that.

 

Not sure. I do know that part of the impetus a few years ago to cut back on EC was corporate's realization that they had a large amount of contingent liabilities and it was impacting their projections. That was inartful way to describe it, but hopefully you know what I mean

 

Done this many times before, super easy. The only thing is that your friend has to put your name on his room at check-in. Then anyone on the room can make payments towards room charges, either via express comps or credit card.

 

Yeah, it's a conflict between wanting to get them off the books vs. if you're maxed out, you're not adding any plus maybe you'll screw up and they'll expire..

 

Why not register the room in your name to start with?

 

Yes, I've done this before. I just book all the rooms myself under my card and name and just add their name to the reservation as well. This way if you happen to get to the hotel first you can check in both rooms and just give your friend the keys later without them needing to wait in line which is especially handy if you have VIP check-in.

 

I won't be there, though -- he arrives in Vegas several days before I do. I will, however, be in town when he checks out of his hotel (and moves over to mine.)

So I won't be around to show ID, etc. at check-in.

Hmm, so it sounds like he could just add me as an additional guest, even though I'm not present? Then upon check-out (when I will be in town) I can show up with my Noir card and express comp it?

Is there any requirement to tell them at check-in that ECs will be used?
