I searched the forums before I posted this, but I didn't see anything on it. My host with CET says all offers/ratings are pooled together in Las Vegas. So if I have $2,000 coin-in at 5 different CET properties in town, I'm rated at $10K coin in with them and my offers reflect that play. If my host books my stay, he gets credit for ALL of my play with CET during my stay, and he can help with the back end comps.

My Mlife host said that if I hop around to other MGM properties, I'll get some lumped credit for corporate offers, but if I focused my play at one MGM property, I'll have much better property specific offers. And he would only get credit for my play at HIS property, and can only use that play for back end.

So bouncing around with Total Rewards casinos doesn't matter. And doing so with Mlife casinos does, when it comes to the comp game.

I know next to nothing about Boyd. I have a card, they do have a local casino to me. We are thinking of hitting up Sam's Town and using their free shuttle to hitch a ride to Fremont St. I'd then play at Main Street, California & Fremont. Will I be rated as a small player at 4 properties? Or will my earned offers reflect my days play between all of them, like my CET example?

I know I'll earn points that go into my account at all 3 clubs. But its the corporate offers that keep me going. Does anyone know about Boyd? I'm not worried about back end, since I wont be staying with them. But I would like to get on their radar in Las Vegas so I dont have any issues throwing money, but if 4 properties will rate me just based on my play at their joint, then my plan to bounce around and have fun will hurt my future offers.

I may be wrong but from my experience I would say they would count all the play for the day and look at it as a whole. This is especially true downtown where MSS and The Cal are pretty much considered the same property. I think the main change would be if, for example, you never really gambled at MSS then you might get some property specific offers in the future if your play warrants it. Other than that I'd assume it's all looked at as a whole.

Basically, no they don't. In the past, the DT casinos were on one system and the Coast branded casinos (Sam's Town included) were on another. BConnected brought them under one club. DT casinos group your play to some extent but for the other casinos, they don't. I would go ahead and come DT but don't expect your time DT to help you with your future offers from Sam's Town.

All that being said, some casinos in the chain are simply easier to get comps at than others. I think the size of the casino and hotel plays a lot into that. Sam's Town being larger should mean that you will have an easier time getting a comp from it than some of the DT casinos or a casino like Gold Coast.

Also, if you qualify for a host at your local, you can use them to book in Vegas. They seem to try and give similar comps to what a local host would give.

    Thank you for the replies!

I have very little play at my local Boyd, so my Bconnected card never got much of a work out. Before planning my next trip, I contacted a host at Main Street and said I would like to get on their radar, and I was just looking for a room for the night to get me started. I told her I was Platinum with MLife & Diamond with CET with a coin-in of roughly $10K per day all slots. I offered to send her some of my offers from other clubs in town so she can see how I'm rated. She told me to book at the website rate and she would review at checkout if she can help.

So I'll now be staying at the Golden Nugget with a room, limo pickup and $100 in free eats all upfront on my next trip. Even though I have never been there before. I guess I'll live LOL

A downtown Boyd host can see your play at Fremont, MSS and the Cal and can comp based on the total. Sometimes you have to remind them to check all the properties. $10K slot coin in a day should get you RFB at the Cal. Surprised she sent you to the website. OTOH, some of the hosts downtown are a bit squibbley.

Surprised any matched or came close to matching other offers. They almost all need to see your play. 10k a day should have been good for covering everything on backend and good for futures. GN has 2419 rooms, so may have had more room to try you out. Boyds downtown only have 447 Fremont, Cal 781 and MSS 409 =1637 rooms combined. And most at Cal and MSS are taken by Hawaiians, which they cater to.

That's good info. I've never booked a room cold and than had to ask at check-out if they would cover it. Its stressful and more a matter of principle. I have the Bellagio or CP comped upfront based on past play, it would break my heart to pay Main Street for a room while I'm working the slots to hopefully cover it. If she didn't want to offer me a room, even though I offered to show her my ratings in town, I moved on to the next place on my list.

Now I'm more interested in my future offers than back end comps with Boyd. I would have hoped my Sam's play would be grouped with my FSE Boyd play for corporate offers. After all, they have shuttles than will drive their FSE shoppers over to Sam's Town and vice versa.

Golden Nugget wouldn't match any free play. But they did give me $100 in food comps to make me feel better. I use URComped as an independent pimp and told both properties they could check my play with them. Its been verified by several hosts in and out of that market. The Nugget bit and hooked me up. Boyd, not so much. The Nugget will be great for a guys trip, but with the wife and kids Sam's is a much better fit.

As far as matching offers in town, I have been successful having Stratosphere , Treasure Island, SLS & Tropicana all match my Mlife or Total rewards offers in the past to get me in. Once they do, I play what I say I will (more or less, depends on the slots) and I start reaping the corporate offers after that.

The STRAT & Trop bounce back comps were never as good as what I had with MGM & CET. So I never went back, SLS had OK offers, I just couldn't get anyone in my group to actually stay there again. TI had great offers, and I have stayed with them on every vacation since.

Out of market i have used my CET offers to get up front comps at the Borgata in Atlantic City. Those bounce back offers were greater than CET had ever offered me on the same play. Then i used those Boragata offers to get me in at Tropicana there. And those offers completely blow CET out of the water.

For the past 2 years I have ONLY stayed with the Borg & Trop in AC. All thanks to my original CET offers that got matched.

Unfortunately the host doesn't have any "historical" information on you or your play in their casino, that's why she mentioned for you to come and play first and she will review your account when you are checking out to see whether you qualify for any comps or reduced rates. If you had historical information from a Boyd casino then she could use that to determine if you qualify for comps but she cannot really use information from a non Boyd casino (unless she was a former host at that company/casino and had access to your play or her casino uses URComped) to give out comps.

Nowadays the casinos are tighter giving out comps so some hosts won't give out comps unless they have your play on record.

I have a friend who gets RFB (limo service, freeplay, etc.) at some casinos. She introduced me to a host at one casino and the host said that they won't give out comped nights or RFB unless they see a person's play at their casino. The host said that they have been burned before by people who talk big and "claim" to put in a lot of play but at the end seem to come up short or give some excuses so nowadays some hosts will tell you to come stay with them (and pay for your room) and you will be evaluated at the end of your stay whether you qualify to get your room comped. With no casino information (from their casino) it is up to the host to take a chance that the customer will come through and the host's job is on the line if the customer doesn't put in enough play to warrant comps. Good that you use URComped but I'm not sure if the hosts at Boyd also use it (which could explain why you got comps at GN but not at the Boyd casinos).

It was a good conversation I had with the host and I agreed with him. I was upfront and explained that I was a red chip table player and the host said that he couldn't help me with comps since my play didn't warrant it (and I agreed).

I would recommend, if you want to get comped rooms at MSS you should put in play there so the host will have no problem seeing that you deserve the comped room. I played at Sam's town and later I got mailers for free nights based on my red chip play so I'm sure that you will get the free nights at Sam's Town once they see your playing history. The host at MSS could probably check your play at Sam's to give you comped nights but I'm not sure why the reluctance (other than the principle of it) to put in play first to show that you deserved the comped rooms.

IMHO, your 10k a day should qualify for comps at most places so you should have no problems at checkout to get your room comped.

I hear ya makikiboy! But like the examples I posted of other casinos in town matching offers, I have had great luck with this before. All of which are in the recent past. I forgot to mention, I did so as well at the Plaza downtown, twice actually. I just hate back end comps. They don't suit how I vacation. I like Free Play, that helps jump start my gambling. I like knowing what room I will be given. I just like knowing what I have to look forward to.

If I'm now chasing a back end comp, I might just book a basic room since I have no idea how I will be rated at a new casino. So I might over kick my coverage and play way more than what i would get in return. Like most players, I use my comps to help offset my losses. And if I'm risking $10K coin, which is usually about a $1500 per day loss to me, I cant justify that with a basic room at a Boyd property and 20 bucks worth of food I ate. But still, I didn't ask for anything outside of the room. In all honesty the conversation didn't get past that rejection or I most certainly would have LOL

On a back end comp, I'm sure my play would get my food bill taken care of, but at Boyd I'd eat a couple of $9.99 buffets and that's it. I'm very blue collar. And I wouldn't get the free play like I would if I stayed at a joint that I was already rated. So for me, having me pay (when I don't have to elsewhere) just to become established is more stress than fun. As is dealing with a host I don't know at the end of my trip. I've done it once before at the Trump Taj Mahal in AC. Very stressful. I had to argue coin-in based on my slot points, then they wanted to argue time on a machine even though they finally acknowledge my coin was what I said I would pay. Then it became a small fight over food since one of the places I ate at they didn't own (Hard Rock) and they use different math to cover those (3 to 1 for what they would for their own places) and I just left with a sour taste in my mouth. That's my reluctance.

Being tight I can see. But its still a hosts job to bring in new blood. As for URcomped, they are good folks. And even if Boyd didn't (they don't) use their services they will 100% vouch for your play if you ask them to. You are their client and Craig and his team will make sure they can help, even if they wont gain anything. They did so for me at Green Valley Ranch a few months back. Its not like I would point a host to my travel blog with pictures of my slot play and shots of the rooms and such I was given. Although they could if they wanted to!

As for that upfront comp at GVR, after a few hours on day one i went from Red (new player) to Gold. The next day I flew past Gold and ended up Platinum. I made friends with a very nice host who sent me home in a limo and calls/emails me once a month to see if I want to come back. The system works!

Boyd is all over the map. We used to get mailers for 4 free MSS buffets every month. Though we played there very little, the mailers would come each and every month as certainly as the grass came up in the spring. We moved a couple of times and the mailers stopped :(

OTOH we called the Borgata where we had never stayed and were showered with comp love....

I wonder if the Borgata will now tighten up size Boyd sold out their half to MGM. I know resort fees there just went up, its an MGM specialty!

Boyd is a weird microcosm...even though they all use the same card, they absolutely DO NOT share ANY data.
For an absolute bottom dollar player, boyd downtown is great, because it literally takes next to NOTHING to start getting free room nights rolling.
However if you're actually a serious player, skip them.
Also Sams Town is super weird...I almost can gurantee I've no played them so many trips (one even being my wedding trip, where we got comped a suite + a connector) and they STILL keep sending me 3 nights free, hahaha.
Don't get me wrong, I REALLY like the property, but it's SOOO far out, you may swell be in Primm!

Care to define your term "bottom dollar player" and the difference to a "serious player", means, Tim?

Boyd is a very strange group. I used to play pretty hard at the Orleans. Used to get decent offers. I still get offers but they have slipped dramatically. I went back to get my offers back up and they actually dropped after a good amount of play on. Just don't understand it. Seems like you get more the less you play.

If they dont share data, I'm just ditching my plans to even use my card at a Boyd casino DT. I'm sure I'll be on the Golden Nuggets radar by the end of the trip if I wanted to stay on Fremont again. I was just going to give Boyd some Fremont play if it increased my likelihood of getting Sam's offers. If i didnt have kids that I took to Vegas I wouldnt be looking at these random off strip places to stay/play!

The downtown casinos do share data between them. But playing there isn't going to generate an offer from Sam's Town. And it's not like one casino can't access your account history from another. It's just that they chose not to mine data to steer customers from one casino to another. except in certain situations, like targeting Stardust customers with Orleans offers when it closed. Right now, the hosts at Blue Chip are hyping Aliante and the Cannery casinos to their VIPs.CET got some of us accustomed to that and MGM casinos fight over the same players. But Boyd chooses not to let their properties cannibalize customers and I get why. It forces each casino to build their own customer base.

So to make a long story short, if you want to be on Sam's Town's radar, you need to take some proactive steps like indicating you want offers from them and going there to play. I disagree that Boyd DT gives free rooms to bottom dollar players because that would define me and that's not what I got when I played there. Casinos like the ones downtown or Gold Coast can be picky because they are smaller and don't have as many rooms to book.

The original plan was: "We are thinking of hitting up Sam's Town and using their free shuttle to hitch a ride to Fremont St. I'd then play at Main Street, California & Fremont." So I would play at Sam's to start. And since I'll be staying on Fremont Street that same day (But at Golden Nugget), I was going to give the 3 Boyd props there some play to add to my ADT for the day. Under the assumption it would all be lumped like CET does in town.

So I wouldn't play on Fremont just to get offers at Sam's. I was going to play at Sam's and the other 3 properties in town I would be near, all on the same day, in hopes of being rated well enough to draw corporate offers from all of them. Then I would just select Sam's to stay at my next go round.

I understand where you are coming from. After getting offers from other hotels it is kind of like an insult that the Boyd host wants you to put in play first before offering you any comps. Too bad, their loss. The funny/bad part of it is once they see your play they fall over backwards in trying to get you to stay with them. I had a friend in the same boat, he asked about comps and they gave him the same response as yours. He started to play at the tables, green and black chips and in no time the pit bosses contacted the hosts who graciously bent over backwards in trying to get my friend to stay with them. My friend told the host that they denied him comp rooms so he would never stay at a place he didn't feel welcome. They continued to send him comp offers though but he never forgot the snub they gave him. Eventually he did contact a host at MSS and that host checked his play at the Cal and gave him comped rooms.

BTW, data IS shared by the other boyd casinos if the host requests it. When it comes to mailers and offers each casino will send out their offers based on your play at their casino but if you had play at a boyd casino a boyd host can check on your play and it is up to the host to offer your comps based on your play at another boyd casino.
